"Mr. Chen, I’m so, so sorry. My sincerest apologies."

"It was a mistake on our part—we sent you the incorrect item. We take full responsibility."

As soon as the call connected, a man on the other end immediately showered him with apologies.

"And you are?"

Chen Mo asked coolly, turning on his phone’s call recording function at the same time.

He figured the caller was from Luo Yin Society, and probably someone in a high-level position.

It wasn’t surprising that the man knew his phone number and name—all that information was on the order.

"I’m Boss Wu, the owner of Luo Yin Society."

"Customer service reported to me that we sent you the wrong item by mistake. I wanted to call you personally to apologize and discuss compensation."

Boss Wu introduced himself and then stated the purpose of his call.

"Isn’t that what your customer service agent already said? They told me to return the product and you’d send me a replacement. End of story."

Chen Mo hadn’t expected a call from the owner himself, but his reply was just as cold.

The owner was taken aback by Chen Mo’s words, momentarily at a loss for what to say.

He wanted nothing more than to crack open that customer service agent’s skull and see what the hell he had in there instead of a brain!

’How could anyone be so stupid? Something this major happens, and his first thought isn’t to report it up the chain.

’Instead, he took matters into his own hands, thinking he could just make it go away with a simple return and replacement.

’Does he take the customer for a fool?

’Now Chen Mo is furious. If he hadn’t threatened to post about it online, that agent probably would have never reported it at all.

’If I had handled this from the start, there’s no way Chen Mo would be this angry.’

"Mr. Chen, that was the agent acting on his own. I’ve just fired him, so please don’t let it bother you."

"I am fully committed to resolving this properly. Please, feel free to name your terms. We will meet any demand within our power."

Boss Wu immediately cut his losses, firing the agent on the spot and inviting Chen Mo to state his demands.

"I have no demands."

Upon hearing this, Chen Mo gave a cold chuckle and replied flatly.

’He was laughing at how quickly the man had thrown his employee under the bus, and also at his petty scheming.

’Making demands over the phone? Isn’t that just extortion?

’I’m recording this call, but who’s to say he isn’t doing the same?

’I’ve been around the block and seen this kind of thing too many times. I’m not about to fall into his trap.’

"Mr. Chen, I genuinely wish to compensate you."

Seeing that Chen Mo was giving nothing away, Boss Wu could only reiterate his position.

’Chen Mo’s refusal to make a demand was, in itself, the biggest demand of all.’

"How about this: are you home? I’d like to come over and speak with you in person. What do you say?"

Boss Wu thought for a moment and decided to make the trip himself.

’Chen Mo would never state his terms over the phone.

’To resolve this, a face-to-face meeting was the only way.’

At this, Chen Mo gave no response.

"Please, give us a chance. I’m truly sincere about apologizing and compensating you for your damages."

When Chen Mo remained silent, Boss Wu started to panic.

He knew better than anyone the sheer destructive power of the evidence Chen Mo held, should it be posted online.

It could instantly knock their hard-earned brand back to square one.

If it were just about Chen Mo, it wouldn’t be so bad.

But once that evidence hit the internet, countless rival brands would willingly become sharp spears in Chen Mo’s hand.

It would be enough to bring the entire sky crashing down on Luo Yin Society.

The thought of the ensuing media firestorm was enough to make his skin crawl.

This kind of thing had happened to other brands before, and he had been a mere spectator, watching the drama unfold.

Now that it was happening to him, if this matter wasn’t handled well...

...his brand would suffer an even worse fate.

"I bought your brand’s snail noodles during Brother Da Niu’s livestream."

Chen Mo didn’t answer whether he would let the man visit, instead saying something that seemed to come out of left field.

"In that case, I’ll contact them first, and then I’ll call you back."

Boss Wu understood Chen Mo’s implication in a flash. After a quick word, he hung up.

Chen Mo’s meaning was clear.

He had bought the snail noodles on Brother Da Niu’s livestream, which meant Brother Da Niu had personally recommended and sold the product.

When something like this happened, it went without saying that the brand itself was responsible.

But Brother Da Niu also bore some of the responsibility.

So, if they were coming to apologize, Boss Wu couldn’t come alone.

Someone from Brother Da Niu’s side had to be there too.

He didn’t think Chen Mo’s request was unreasonable. It was common for customers who bought problematic goods from a livestream to go after the streamer.

It wasn’t as if this kind of thing had never happened before.

On the contrary, he felt Chen Mo’s statement was actually a helpful reminder.

If Brother Da Niu didn’t show up, then he’d be on the hook for the entire compensation package himself.

But if someone from Brother Da Niu’s team came, they could split the cost.

It would ease his burden, so to speak.

He found Brother Da Niu’s number and dialed.

"Hello? Boss Wu, we sold a ton yesterday! You guys need to get those orders shipped out ASAP..."

Brother Da Niu answered, still buzzing about the previous night’s sales.

"We have a problem. A customer who placed an order during your stream last night received their package today and found the product inside was almost a year past its expiration date..."

Boss Wu quickly ran Brother Da Niu through the situation.

"What?! A product that expired almost a year ago?"

Brother Da Niu was completely stunned, his voice filled with shock and disbelief.

"A few days past expiration would be one thing, but a product that’s been expired for almost a year? Where the hell did that come from?"

"We’re still investigating, but the customer sent photos. It’s definitely our product."

Boss Wu was baffled as well. He had already assigned several people to look into it.

But the photos Chen Mo had sent clearly showed an expiration date from almost a year ago.

And the packaging was unmistakably theirs.

"Why are you telling me this? My job is to sell the product. Production and shipping are on you."
