Fairy Miaoyin glanced at him. She felt that in this collaboration, she had yet to gain a single thing but had already given up so much.

"This is what happened..."

It all started over half a year ago. She was in the Divine Maiden Palace’s Library Pavilion when she unexpectedly discovered a Treasure Map hidden between the pages of a book.

The Treasure Map was unique. Its material felt like paper, yet it was as soft as silk. Its contents could only be seen on a brilliant, starlit night, illuminated by the celestial glow.

Following its clues, she found a Stellar Tomb.

The very place Jiang Lan had just mentioned.

Within that Stellar Tomb, she received many benefits and fortuitous encounters, including the Shaking Light Origin, one of the Seven-Star Origins.

Moreover, she learned many of the world’s secrets. She discovered that the former Master of Stars had not truly perished but had been reincarnated and would reappear before long.

And anyone who possessed one of the Seven-Star Origins would become either nourishment for the Master of Stars or one of his servants.

Being highly ambitious, she naturally didn’t want her fate controlled by another. So, she began secretly investigating, hoping to find the reincarnation of the Master of Stars.

Furthermore, the Divine Maiden Palace’s Supreme Treasure, the Shaking Light Immortal Jade, had vanished many years prior.

That Immortal Jade had originally belonged to the former Master of Shaking Light. As the new Shaking Light Inheritor, now in possession of the Shaking Light Origin, she was determined to retrieve it.

Armed with the information she’d gathered and records from the Divine Maiden Palace, she took the Star Bead—an artifact that could locate the Shaking Light Immortal Jade—and set out into the world...

After finishing her explanation, Fairy Miaoyin waited for Jiang Lan to respond.

"So, that means you’re the new Master of Shaking Light?" Jiang Lan asked, sizing her up with a strange expression, as if he already knew the answer.

Fairy Miaoyin admitted it openly. "The Shaking Light Origin is now one with me. Young Master Jiang, you are incredibly strong, but if I were to use its power, I wouldn’t necessarily be weaker than you."

Jiang Lan chuckled. "You seem quite confident, Fairy Miaoyin. But I suppose that’s to be expected. In ancient times, when the Seven Stars descended to slay Demons, protect the righteous, and prevent the Demon Calamity, each one was a world-shaking figure."

"Now that you’re the Shaking Light Inheritor, you ought to have that kind of spirit. But everything you’ve told me still isn’t enough to make me trust you."

"I’ve told you everything I should have!" Fairy Miaoyin said, incensed. "I even revealed the secrets of the Divine Maiden Palace! What more could you possibly want?"

"From the very beginning, you intended to use and manipulate me. I saw through your plan, but even now, only you know which of your words are true and which are false," Jiang Lan said, his gaze deep as he watched her.

Fairy Miaoyin froze.

Jiang Lan’s tone shifted abruptly. "However, I’ve always been a magnanimous person. And even though you’re a compulsive liar with a heart as black as night, Fairy Miaoyin, I am willing to trust you this one time."

Fairy Miaoyin was so furious her chest heaved, but she forced herself to suppress her anger. Her clear, charming eyes burned with utter vexation.

"Then I suppose I should thank you, Young Master Jiang," she said, taking a deep breath.

"That won’t be necessary. I suddenly find myself interested in these matters you’ve brought up, Fairy Miaoyin. But rest assured, I won’t fight you for the Shaking Light Immortal Jade. In fact, I can even help you."

"Besides," Jiang Lan added with a faint smile, "I know who the Master of Stars is."

Fairy Miaoyin’s eyes snapped toward him, a sharp light glinting within them as she tried to determine if he was telling the truth.

Jiang Lan’s expression remained unchanged.

"What do I have to do?" she asked after a moment, her composure returning.

"It’s simple. From now on, you work for me. I know the Legalist School backing you is no simple organization, but your position within it isn’t nearly as glamorous as it appears to the outside world."

"There’s much we can accomplish together," Jiang Lan said, his tone tinged with an odd quality.
