This Martial Saint is Too Cautious

I don't mean to sell a sob story; I'm just laying out the facts for everyone.

Given my current physical condition, I can only live for one more day for the entirety of this coming April. So I'm taking this final day to have a heart-to-heart with all of you.

Before this book was released, I genuinely had a hundred-chapter backlog.

I originally figured that with a hundred chapters saved up, I could write a bit more during the initial release period. That way, when it was time for the premium release burst, I wouldn't go completely off the rails with the plot due to a lack of thinking time.

So, when I showed it to my editor, I specifically told him, "Man, I've got a hundred-chapter backlog. I can't really make changes now. Please just approve it. I'll kowtow to you."

ORZ...

Yep, a very vivid kowtow.

And then, my editor was moved by my passionate sincerity. We started publishing the book, signing the contract...

However... Imagination is wonderful, but reality is cruel.

After the book came out, I started reading everyone's comments. I'd thought that after writing for over a decade, I'd be able to remain completely unruffled.

But I was wrong!

The good comments warmed my heart.

But I have to admit, some of you have truly venomous tongues.

Such silver tongues, as if coated in honey, so eloquent, stirring up such passionate prose.

I think I finally understand why Zhuge Liang was born over a thousand years too early. It was to avoid the sharp edge of people like you.

The flaming comments nearly made me lose my cool, but my editor lost his completely.

He threw your comments in my face, yelling about "having a backlog" and "not needing to make any changes"...

So, I carefully analyzed everyone's constructive criticism and started the revisions.

The earliest, most attentive readers might have noticed some inconsistencies in the data between chapters, like the height of Lin Yan's Martial Arts Tree. This is a problem that arose from the revisions.

You might not know this, but when you're proofreading your own work, it's very easy to skim. Sometimes I'll fix something in one chapter, but fail to notice a related inconsistency in another, even after reading it over several times. I often don't catch it until a reader points it out.

Revising is painful enough. But when you stack a wedding photoshoot trip and traveling with a kid on top of it, it's simply a living hell.

I only brought a laptop with me, and I was trying to work on that tiny screen. I had to compare things chapter by chapter, relying on the touchpad because I didn't have a mouse. I was constantly flipping back to earlier chapters to check data, then jumping forward to later ones.

I was revising until two or three in the morning almost every day, then getting up again around eight. In those five days, I lost over seven pounds.

I guess it's a damn effective weight-loss plan. The downside is inflammation and canker sores.

I'm not saying this to get sympathy, just to let you know that the hundred-chapter backlog is gone. I'm still revising now, so I only have a tiny handful of chapters ready for release.

The book will be going premium in the early hours of May 1st. I'll be releasing four to five chapters that day, for a total of about 30,000 characters.

After that, I will strive to maintain a daily pace of two updates, totaling 10,000 characters!
