Chapter 183: An Empire of Trickery

"Since you accept..." Loki said with a chuckle that slid through the air like silk over steel.

"The first thing we will do is fix that pride of yours."

Tyron’s head lifted at once, mouth already opening in sharp protest, the familiar defiance rising in his chest.

However, before a single word could leave him, Loki continued in the same smooth, unhurried tone, cutting cleanly across the impulse.

"Pride itself is not a flaw, Tyron. But a true Trickster is never an open book. Every emotion you wear so plainly on your face is a page others can read. That ends now.

You will learn to smile when you wish to strike, and to remain silent when the world expects noise."

The green-and-black blade rested quietly against his legs, the etched laughing faces catching the unfamiliar sunlight as if they shared the amusement in her voice.

"Now get moving," she added, lighter yet firm. "This world will not explore itself, and your rank will not rise while you sit in the grass staring at the sky."

Tyron drew in a slow breath, the scent of strange earth and distant flowers filling his lungs.

He gave a single, short nod and pushed himself to his feet.

The soft grass bent beneath his boots as he straightened, the weight of the Laughing Sword settling naturally into his grip.

Before he took the first step away from the rock, he looked down at the weapon once more, the question rising unbidden from the place where old grudges still burned.

"Can you truly help me beat Lord Dream?"

A soft, almost lazy hum answered him from within the steel.

"Who can say for certain what will unfold in the Era of Khaos?" Loki replied, the words carrying that same vague, playful distance.

"Even I do not claim to know every turn the path will take."

---

Three years later, Tyron Alabaster walked the crowded main street of a mid-sized frontier town under a pale afternoon sky.

The air carried the mixed scents of roasted meat, dust, and cheap wine.

Merchants called out prices, children darted between stalls, and the occasional armed traveler eyed the crowd with professional caution.

Tyron moved through it all with an easy, unhurried stride, the Laughing Sword hanging at his hip beneath a plain dark cloak.

After a few years under Loki’s constant, needle-sharp guidance, the open pride and quick temper had eased away.

He still felt every slight and every ambition, but the feelings no longer lived on his face for the world to read.

He turned down a quieter side street and entered a low-ceilinged tavern that smelled of woodsmoke and spiced ale.

Choosing a corner table that gave him a clear view of both exits, he sat, ordered a simple cup of dark wine, and rested one hand lightly on the hilt of the Laughing Sword.

Only when the server had gone did he speak in a low voice meant for the blade alone.

"It seems I still have my work cut out for me if I ever plan to prove everyone wrong." He turned the cup slowly between his fingers, watching the liquid catch the lantern light.

"I can’t figure out how I ended up... in an entirely new star cluster?" he muttered, half-confused.

Before stepping into that ruin all those years ago, his knowledge of cosmology and travel was, well... nonexistent.

But with Loki’s guidance, he quickly learned the order of things: first Worlds, then Star Systems, followed by Star Clusters, Galaxies, and finally Galaxy Clusters.

Realizing he was now entire star systems away from Kalpa was, to put it mildly, a staggering shock.

A soft, knowing chuckle drifted from the sword, the sound both intimate and faintly teasing.

"Your priority shouldn’t be rushing back just yet... we’ve talked about this. You need to create a Pantheon of your own... one that grows alongside you and answers only to you. It will serve you well now... and when it comes to Pantheos."

Tyron’s lips curved into a quiet, genuine smile at the familiar name. He raised his cup in a small, private toast to the blade.

"Pantheos again. I still can’t wait to see it. Be honest... is it really as legendary as you make it sound?"

The Laughing Sword rested warm against his side, the etched faces catching the tavern light as if they shared the same private amusement.

Loki’s voice drifted out soft and deliberately unhelpful.

"Pantheos is... many things to many beings. You will understand the difference only when you stand there yourself. Until then, every description I give you will be both true and incomplete."

Tyron turned the cup once more between his fingers, the vague answer settling into him without offering any real shape.

He let the silence stretch, accepting that this particular truth would remain out of reach for now.

---

Four more years slipped by, making it a total of eleven since he walked away from the Academy of Veils.

Ever since becoming a disciple of Loki, Tyron had undergone a profound transformation, both inside and out.

Guided by her counsel, he began to take the first bold steps toward building his own Pantheon, setting in motion a path that would shape his destiny in ways he could scarcely imagine.

In a high chamber of pale stone and dark wood, he stood before a tall mirror while two silent attendants fastened the final layers of formal black-and-green attire across his shoulders.

The sight was impressive, yet Tyron knew the truth behind it.

Such expansion in a single year had never been easy, nor had it followed any of the ordinary paths written in the books of conquest.

Once Loki grasped the essence of his star and the true nature of his constellation, she helped him devise a plan that turned the entire world into a meticulously prepared stage, all while ensuring his power would grow.

As noted before, Tyron was the Constellation of the Trickery Blade, and it was long known there were many paths to increasing one’s rank—so long as they remained in harmony with themselves.

With Loki, the trickiest of them all, lending a hand, aiding Tyron was effortless.

The plan moved in three deliberate phases.

---

Phase one kicked off during his early travels through a world with just two continents.

For months, Tyron showed up on both landmasses as nothing more than a handy problem-solver.

He sought out clans and factions that were balanced in strength, making sure neither their leaders nor their ancestors outranked him.

The whole idea of the plan was never to take obvious leadership. Instead, he quietly planted seeds... answers to problems that hadn’t even appeared yet.

Every solution he planted was bound to a simple array Loki had passed on to him—the Array of Trickery.

Each time a faction accepted and used one of his solutions, another invisible thread tied them more tightly into the growing web.

Phase two began when those seeds were ready to "bloom."

Tyron and Loki staged controlled crises... sudden invasions from neighboring groups, calculated betrayals within the ranks, and shortages timed to hit at the worst possible moments.

Each fabricated disaster pushed the factions toward solutions that emerged with suspiciously perfect timing.

And the final act, Phase three, had unfolded only a few months ago.

Once more than one hundred factions had been gathered and rendered unstable enough, the Array of Trickery activated in full.

In that moment, entire power structures that had stood for generations crumbled overnight.

Leaders slipped into unexplained comas, some died under mysterious circumstances, and a chain of bizarre misfortunes wiped out every rival authority.

In the sudden absence of leadership, Tyron stepped in—not as a conqueror flaunting domination, but as the sole figure capable of keeping the fractured factions from falling apart.

For the past two months, the key survivors from those groups had been steadily arriving at his newly built kingdom.

----

Tyron adjusted his cuff with calm precision, speaking to the Laughing Sword resting on a nearby stand.

"This is the day, Loki. By nightfall, every corner of this world will know the name of what we’ve built... an Empire."

The surge in Tyron’s power was beyond anything he could have imagined, thanks not only to Loki’s plan but also to her direct influence on his growth.

Now, he stood at the Cosmic Union rank, Tier 21.

"Agreed," Loki said, her voice smooth and edged with quiet satisfaction. "But we still need one last push..."

"These beings must see the light you represent. They need to understand that you are not simply some fortunate opportunist who took advantage of chaos.

They must witness that you hold power... power that cannot be questioned or dismissed."

At those words, Tyron’s jaw tightened slightly.

He clicked his tongue once, the soft sound sharp in the quiet chamber, and turned toward the tall doors that led out to the waiting halls.

The polished floor reflected the hem of his robes as he moved.

Behind his calm expression, practical thoughts turned quickly.

’How exactly am I supposed to arrange that display without shattering the careful image we’ve already built?’
