Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable

Chapter 102: Furious Brooke York

After class, Brooke York shoved the test paper into her desk, not wanting to look at it at all.

If the teacher hadn’t been going over it just now, she would have tossed it in her desk long ago.

Meanwhile, because Chloe York had scored a 96, all the classmates thought she was amazing and crowded around her desk.

"Chloe, you’re seriously amazing, scoring a 96! No one in our class has ever gotten such a high score in English. The best before this was the class president, who got a 94."

"Yeah, yeah! What’s your secret? Can you tell us how you improved your grades?"

"There’s really no secret. I just do a lot of practice problems. You see me—whenever I have time, I’m working on problems. On weekends, I also hole up in the library to read books and stuff."

Chloe York was a little embarrassed that her classmates would swarm her so enthusiastically to ask this question. But what she said really did help her improve her grades; the system was more of a supplement.

"Is that so? But I did practice problems too, and my score only went up by a few points compared to last time. It wasn’t very effective!"

"Chloe already said she even holes up in the library on weekends. Did *you* study on the weekend?"

"I didn’t!" the girl said, scratching her head in embarrassment.

The girl’s silly, honest look made everyone laugh.

"Well, since Chloe said it works, I’ll give it a try too. I’m not just going to study hard Monday through Friday, I’ll study hard on weekends too."

"Yeah, me too!"

"Then let’s all get back to our practice problems!"

The students all returned to their seats. Those with test papers worked on them, those with vocabulary lists memorized them, and the whole classroom instantly became a hive of activity.

’What’s there to be so smug about? It’s just one English score. There are still other subjects. We’ll see if she can score this well when the other results come out. *That* would be a true display of skill,’ Brooke York thought, rolling her eyes.

Clara Bell chimed in, agreeing with Brooke York: "Exactly. These people just swarm over anyone who gets one high score. The other subjects aren’t even out yet. They don’t even stop to think that Chloe York used to be someone who scored a zero or a one."

Soon, it was the second period, math class. The tests were handed back again. Chloe York: 97.

It wasn’t just math. For every class that day, the teachers handed back tests, and Chloe York, without exception, scored above 95 in all of them.

This time, it wasn’t just the classmates; even Brooke York was a little impressed. Of course, she was only impressed by the scores, not by Chloe York.

"Oh my god, if you convert Chloe’s scores to the Gaokao scoring system, she’d probably have around 740 points, right? Is that enough to be the top scorer?"

"Not necessarily. You’d need a perfect score to be a guaranteed top scorer."

"Don’t tell me our school’s next top scorer is going to be Chloe York, right? That’s too dramatic! Before, her total score for all subjects was less than ten. This time, she’s made a comeback against all odds with a total over 700. It’s so inspiring."

Soon, every teacher and student in the school knew that Chloe York’s score in every subject was over 95.

Everywhere you went, you could hear people discussing Chloe York.

"Did you hear? Chloe York in Class 6 of the senior year got over 95 in every subject."

"I heard! My teacher told me. She’s just incredible, isn’t she? Seeing her improve like this makes me think I can do it too. Maybe by the time I’m a senior, I’ll be able to get over 95 in every subject too."

Because of Chloe York, all the first and second-year students who originally lacked the confidence to get into a good university now felt there was a real possibility they could, filling them with self-assurance.

Jordan Walton hadn’t expected Chloe York to be this brilliant either. It seemed his school might actually produce a top scorer this year—and maybe even more than one.

His school hadn’t produced one last year, though they had in the years prior. He had thought this year they could only rely on Ethan Prescott and Evan Shaw. Now, things were looking up; their chances had improved.

That day, Brooke York had no desire to go home at all, because she knew their homeroom teacher would be sending the report cards to their parents any minute.

The scores for both her and Chloe York would be sent to Alice Cole’s phone. She couldn’t imagine what it would be like when they saw the grades on the phone.

Although she didn’t dare to imagine it, she knew Miles York would definitely be overjoyed and incredibly proud. He would only grow more resentful toward her, his biological daughter, feeling that she couldn’t compare to Chloe York at all.

"Brooke, why are you walking so slowly?" Clara Bell asked, confused.

She had been walking side-by-side with Brooke York, but after noticing Brooke slow down, she had deliberately slowed her own pace. She just hadn’t expected Brooke to start walking even slower.

"If you want to go home so badly, then walk faster yourself. Why are you bothering me?" Brooke York snapped impatiently at Clara Bell.

Clara Bell felt wronged. She was only showing concern. After all, wasn’t Brooke usually the most eager to go home? She always made a point of getting into her family’s luxury car in front of a crowd of students. Why was she so unenthusiastic this time? The other students had almost all left, and her family’s driver had been standing by the gate for so long.

Not wanting to be bothered by Clara Bell, Brooke York quickened her pace, got into the car, and slammed the door shut with a BANG.

’What is *with* her? Is she on her period? Or did menopause come early? She’s always flying off the handle, and always at me.’

’If it weren’t for the fact that you’re a young lady of the York Family, do you think I’d even bother with you? Your temper is so much worse than Chloe York’s. At least Chloe never lost her temper with me.’

’I’ve only been friends with her for a few days, and she’s always blowing up at me for no reason. I can’t even count how many times she’s gotten angry.’

Clara Bell grumbled as she walked away, her resentment toward Brooke York growing.

She began to reminisce about when she and Chloe York were friends. Back then, whenever Chloe had good food, fun items, or new clothes, she would always buy some for her.

She would take her out shopping and never got angry with her. It was her own fault, really. Why did she have to get so jealous for no good reason? Because of that jealousy, she ended up hanging out with Brooke York.

The car stopped at the entrance of the York Family’s home. Brooke York clutched her schoolbag with both hands, showing no intention of getting out.

Now, even the driver noticed Brooke York’s strange behavior. In the past, when he came to pick her up, she was always the most eager to get in the car.

But today, not only had she made him wait for so long, but now that they were home, she wouldn’t even get out.

"Miss, we’re home," the driver reminded her.

"You think I don’t know we’re home? Do I need you to point it out?" Brooke York snarled at the driver before resentfully yanking the car door open and getting out.

She slammed the door shut with a loud BANG. The sound of the door being shut with all her might startled the driver. ’What’s wrong with the young miss today? She’s in such a foul mood. Could it be that the third mock exam results came out and she didn’t do well? Is she about to get chewed out at home? If that’s the case, then she really deserves it!’

The driver chuckled and started the car, heading for the garage.
