Chapter 2129: The Sage Awakens on the Sacrificial Altar vs. Tomb-Raiding Woman (Part 24)
Even with Gu Shengyin’s endurance, she couldn’t help but let out a muffled groan.
It hurts too much.

It was as if countless tongues of flame were drilling into every part of her body, gnawing at every nook and cranny within.
The pain reached an extreme peak.
But within this extreme pain, there was an additional faint sensation intermingled.
Ever since she woke up, Gu Shengyin could sense that her body wasn’t fully under her control.
This was the aftermath of millennia of slumber; her flesh and bones had degenerated, with a significant portion even transforming into useless components.
And as these flames wreaked havoc within Gu Shengyin’s body, they were also devouring this degraded flesh.
Gu Shengyin could clearly feel that as time slowly passed, the heat within her body was gradually rising, especially on the right side where some sensation was beginning to return.
But it hurt even more!
Cold sweat dripped down her fair forehead, and Gu Shengyin thought muddily, with no idea when this torturous ordeal would end.
A rustling sound suddenly reached her ears.
Gu Shengyin’s originally sluggish mind suddenly cleared, and she stared sharply ahead.
An entirely dark red little snake was slithering toward her direction.
Gu Shengyin: "..."
It’s like when the roof leaks and it rains all night.
At this moment, she really had no spare mental capacity to deal with such a little creature.
Truth be told, Gu Shengyin was not afraid of snakes, and this snake wasn’t ugly; its whole body was delicate, and its blood-red scales even had a jade-like sheen.
Gu Shengyin soon understood what this was.
The Rock Snake, a Low-Rank Monster Beast, considered a specialty of the Extreme Southern Land, and rare among creatures able to survive at these high temperatures.
Gu Shengyin didn’t move, watching as the Rock Snake slowly swam toward her position at the Vermilion Bird Fire Pond.
It stopped at the edge of the Flame Pool, clearly it had noticed Gu Shengyin.
Human and snake stared at each other for quite some time, and then the Rock Snake tentatively lowered its head slowly.
Gu Shengyin: "..."
She thought for a moment and blew a breath.
That snake was instantly swept away by what seemed like a gust of wind, vanishing who knows where.
Only then did Gu Shengyin breathe a sigh of relief.
Though she wasn’t scared of this thing, the sight of its winding and slithering soft body was nauseating.
However, the next moment, she felt something biting into her arm.
Gu Shengyin looked down to see a bright green little snake.
Really, it’s outrageous!
This snake had obviously snuck in from behind; Gu Shengyin’s entire attention was on the Vermilion Bird Fire Pond, and she hadn’t noticed this.
This snake and the Rock Snake were clearly not the same; Gu Shengyin glanced at it but couldn’t identify what it was.
There was no pain in her arm; apparently, the skin on Gu Shengyin was not something that Low-Rank Monster Beasts could break.
To her surprise, before she could react, the snake suddenly dissolved into a stream of bright green water, merging into the Vermilion Bird Fire Pond.
Gu Shengyin: "...???"
She quickly called for the system.
What was going on? Could she still soak in the Vermilion Bird Fire Pond now that something was added to it?
Actually, without Gu Shengyin saying anything, the system was already verifying the information.
"Host, no need to worry, it’s not a real Monster Beast," the system comforted Gu Shengyin.
"This bright green snake that encounters Vermilion Bird Fire and just dissipates must be a plant native to the Extreme Southern Land known as Tweed Grass."
