Chapter 1258: Eldest Son of the Quinn Family
"No room for negotiation?" Aurelia Shaw asked, her eyes bright like peach blossoms.
Mason Nightshade said nothing.
The meaning was obvious.
"Fine! Then I’ll go myself!" Aurelia’s eyes were filled with determination. "There are more roads to the Capital City than just yours. The moment you leave Q City, I’ll follow right behind. You can send someone to watch me, but you better make sure that person is glued to me every moment of every day."
The implication: if there’s even a slight chance, she’ll find a way to escape and come looking for him.
The two locked eyes, neither willing to back down.
After a moment, Mason relented first, sighing in resignation and calling out, "Add one more person."
...
Grayson Quinn prepared the plane and made a call home, "I’m heading back to the Capital City."
"You’re actually willing to come back?" A refined voice replied on the other end.
Grayson dared not call the family patriarch directly, so he called his elder brother’s phone instead. "I heard there’s trouble in the Capital City? It’s even affecting our troops. The family patriarch is in the Capital City, and yet such big issues arise there."
"You little brat, what are you saying? Who allowed you to come back? Didn’t you say you’d never return when you left last time? Don’t come back! Stay with your troops!" An enraged roar suddenly burst from the phone.
Grayson paused, rubbing his ear in complaint, "Why’s the old man with you? Couldn’t you have given me a heads up?"
Lennox Quinn chuckled softly, "Who knew you’d speak so candidly? Do you really want to come back? I’ll have the servants clean up your room."
"Yeah." Grayson replied, meanwhile thinking: The old man would rather have me stay with the troops than return home. The situation in the Capital City must really be dangerous now.
...
That night, Mason Nightshade’s plane landed in the Capital City, greeted by Lennox Quinn, the eldest son of the Quinn Family and current Deputy Minister of Defense.
"Brother." Grayson Quinn called out with a smirk. He held absolute respect and admiration for his elder brother, who had taken a position in the Ministry of Defense at twenty-two and was now thirty-one, serving as Deputy Minister.
He was the youngest in Country Z to hold such a high position. Mason Nightshade could have risen higher if he wanted, but chose not to; otherwise, Mason’s current position would far exceed Lennox’s.
Aurelia Shaw keenly observed the young talent before her. He had a tall and straight figure, graceful and refined demeanor, with a gentle smile that made people believe he was always kind and approachable.
Aurelia had long heard of Lennox Quinn, famed along with Mason Nightshade as one of the youngest and most promising talents, the other being Mason.
He was known for his gentle temperament and kind manner, indeed matching the rumors she’d heard.
Suddenly, a warm hand clasped hers. Mason stood in front of Aurelia, intentionally or not, blocking her slightly and giving the impression that she was his woman.
Mason merely nodded to Lennox.
Lennox smiled and nodded back at Mason.
"Cars have been arranged outside for you. His Excellency the President has also prepared accommodations for you at the presidential suite. Let’s go; His Excellency likely has matters to discuss with you." Lennox said, leading the way.
Aurelia felt Mason’s attitude towards Lennox was overly indifferent, and was about to ask why when she noticed how tightly he gripped her hand—and suddenly understood.
Was Mason jealous again?
Pfft, was this wolf raised on jealousy from an early age or what?
