Chapter 1225: Grandfather’s Sudden Change in Attitude... (5)
Aurelia Shaw covered her head with the quilt, unwilling to move, and only pulled it back when Mason Nightshade got up to shower, revealing a pair of beautiful peach blossom eyes as she got up and climbed out of bed.
Her fair, pinkish feet stepped onto the floor; she liked to go barefoot without any particular reason, so Mason had carpets installed throughout the Nightshade Residence floor. Over here at the old residence where they seldom visited, the floor remained smooth and cold underfoot.
Mason Nightshade emerged from the bathroom, and when he saw Aurelia missing from the bed, a flash of panic crossed his eyes as he prepared to go downstairs to find her.
"Mason?" Aurelia’s voice called out in confusion.
She tilted her head, her peach blossom eyes reflecting doubt, her delicate brows slightly furrowed. She glanced at his body wrapped only in a towel, his eyes filled with undisguised panic and urgency, as if he had lost his most beloved possession. His wet hair was disheveled, and his usually stern face was blatantly panicked.
"Where are you going?" Aurelia asked again, suddenly realizing something and pausing.
Mason stepped forward, his sharp eyes like deep black pools, and encircled her in his long arms, hugging tightly and letting out a lengthy sigh.
Aurelia patted Mason’s back, "You thought I left? That was a long time ago; now I won’t leave you suddenly disappear, nor will I die easily. I promised you, didn’t I?"
"I know." But... if he couldn’t see her for a moment, he would still panic with that feeling of living alone in this world, breathing was a struggle, painful and suffocating, as if his lungs were about to explode, without her, living seemed meaningless.
He didn’t want to experience this pain again, even with happiness standing beside her now, knowing clearly he held her hand; when she suddenly disappeared, his heart would panic and ache.
"What are you doing?" Mason breathed out, loosening his grip on her slightly, and saw the teacup on the table, asking.
"I brewed tea, the Second Madam’s tea is delicious, I want you to taste it." Aurelia left Mason’s embrace, poured a cup for him, Mason took a sip while meeting Aurelia’s expectant gaze.
He couldn’t taste the flavor of the tea; just having calmed down, even if served with a pot of premium Longjing, he couldn’t discern the taste.
Seeing the woman’s expectant gaze, Mason pursed his lips, smiled, and said, "It’s very good."
Aurelia didn’t notice his absent-mindedness, poured herself a cup. It was far off from what was brewed at the Second Madam’s place; her tea skills were not comparable to the Second Madam’s who spent days with a teapot amid a scent of sandalwood.
Recalling the serene woman unbothered by worldly affairs, Aurelia suddenly wanted to spend more time with her.
...
The next day, after Mason went out, Aurelia wandered alone in the courtyard, unexpectedly encountering Sophie Nye, who was on the phone. Seeing Aurelia approach, she hurriedly hung up and glared at Aurelia, "You’re quite comfortably settled in my home!"
Aurelia smiled at this, "What are you suggesting, if I don’t live comfortably, should I stay with three prostrations and nine bows? If you really wish, I can offer three incense sticks at your door daily, how about that?"
The servants couldn’t help but glance at her. In their impression, the Young Madam who always obeyed the Madam was now speaking to her in this tone.
"You!" Sophie Nye’s eyes widened, "What tone are you using with me?!"
