Chapter 1242: You Want to Kill Me?
"Young Master said you didn’t eat dinner and he was concerned you might be hungry. This is your favorite porridge, I’ve placed it here for you." Butler Nolan set down the porridge but didn’t leave, instead he watched Aurelia Shaw.
"Is there anything else?" Aurelia asked suspiciously, suddenly feeling that Butler Nolan was behaving oddly today.
Butler Nolan kept a standard smile on his face, "I’ll watch you finish eating."
Aurelia furrowed her brow, to be honest, Butler Nolan was overstepping a bit. She could understand Mason Nightshade instructing him to bring her porridge, but starting a while ago, Butler Nolan’s actions were beyond his professional duties.
"I don’t think that’s necessary, I’m not hungry right now, I’ll eat later myself. If there’s nothing else, you can leave, as it’s not convenient for you to be in my room." Aurelia hinted for him to leave.
But whether Butler Nolan didn’t get the hint, or chose to ignore it, he kept the same smile on his lips, "If it’s the Young Master’s instruction, I dare not shirk it. Miss Shaw, you should drink the porridge first."
Aurelia heard a note of coercion in his words, and her harmless peach blossom eyes turned sharp, narrowing slightly.
Butler Nolan’s smile became sinister.
"And if I refuse?" Aurelia asked.
"Then I’ll have to personally make sure Miss Shaw drinks it." Butler Nolan rolled up his sleeves, the wrinkles on his face losing their usual courtesy and warmth, becoming sinister and terrifying. His dry hand holding the porridge seemed like the hand of a devil.
Seeing he was no longer pretending, Aurelia didn’t hold back either, she raised an eyebrow, a fierce expression on her face, "Butler Nolan, are you intending to force me to drink? You’ve served the Nightshade Family your whole life, always humble, you’ve never been disobedient. Did I offend you somewhere that you’re unhappy with me, or..."
Considering another possibility, Aurelia tightened her lips.
Butler Nolan glanced at her, "It’s nothing to do with the Master, he hasn’t instructed me in anything. Even with past events, the Master never intended to harm you. Today, it’s my personal reason, don’t let it tarnish the Master’s reputation because of me."
"That sounds even less reasonable. I’ve hardly ever interacted with you, I don’t recall offending you, for you to come to my room in the middle of the night and use this method to harm me." Aurelia methodically probed.
Realizing she was intentionally trying to extract information from him, Butler Nolan’s aged eyes grew colder, "You don’t need to question me, you’d better obediently drink this bowl of porridge, otherwise, I’ll have to act."
As he finished speaking, Butler Nolan suddenly wielded a knife with a shining blade.
"Do you think you alone can kill me? This is the Nightshade Family, Butler Nolan, aren’t you overestimating..." Aurelia was interrupted as a sudden dizziness hit her, she had to steady herself by holding the table.
Something flashed through her mind, she abruptly looked at Butler Nolan.
Butler Nolan solved her puzzle, "Young Madam, you underestimated me. I know you trained with the Young Master for several months, my old body is no match for you, so I had to resort to some underhanded methods."
While he spoke the words "underhanded," there wasn’t a hint of guilt on his face.
Butler Nolan declared, "I found a way to send the servants away, rest assured, after I kill you, I’ll personally confess to the Young Master."
"Is it worth it, doing this?" Aurelia suddenly asked, seeing Butler Nolan pause, and looking at her in confusion. Aurelia continued, "Nolan Lawson is your son, right? You think I killed him, you want revenge? But what if I say it wasn’t me?"
