Chapter 1219: Visiting the Hospital
Amanda Fuller didn’t realize she had already fallen into a trap. Just as she was about to confess everything, she heard Foster Fuller coughing softly.
Amanda shot him an angry glance, "Why are you coughing? You’re clearly afraid I’ll find a boyfriend here and followed me, and now you dare to say I’m wrong?"
Foster sighed inwardly and glanced at someone smirking while watching the drama unfold. He reminded his naive sister, "She’s trying to get information from you."
Foster spoke sparingly, even in situations like this. He would never use two sentences when one would suffice.
Amanda was stunned. She looked at Aurelia Shaw’s teasing smile and realized belatedly that she had been deceived.
Turning red, she glared at Aurelia, who laughed so hard she was bending over, rubbing tears of laughter from her eyes, which made her bright eyes even redder.
Looking on, Amanda had initially thought of settling scores with Aurelia, but ended up letting it go. Helplessly, she grabbed her phone and habitually snapped a few photos of Aurelia, then angrily posted a tweet.
— "What do you do when your own artist is too clever and tricks you? Waiting online, quite urgent."
The tweet instantly blew up, bringing out lurkers who hadn’t surfaced in ages.
"Oh my gosh, my Aurelia looks amazing. These looks are enough to admire for ten years."
"Wow! There are beautiful photos of my Aurelia! I’ll snag them!"
"Aww, my wife still looks stunning today."
What kind of comments are these? Amanda furiously replied, "I’m asking for your help. Can you stop being so obsessed with looks?"
"Wow, beautiful Sister Man is angry. Quick, think of something; quick, think of something. Being angry will cause wrinkles. She’s at an age where she hasn’t found a boyfriend; we can’t delay Sister Man from finding a boyfriend! (Serious face)"
...
The moment Amanda sent out the tweet, Foster’s phone in his pocket vibrated, but his expression remained unchanged, as if it wasn’t his phone that vibrated.
Aurelia glanced at Foster, whose face stayed calm, then looked at Sister Man, who seemed oblivious. Aurelia sighed inwardly. How could someone as calculating as Foster raise such a carefree sister like Amanda?
...
Leaving the studio, Aurelia bought some fruit at the supermarket and a bouquet of fresh flowers, then caught a cab to the hospital.
She hesitated at the door of the hospital room, lifting her hand before letting it drop again, remembering the way her grandfather looked at her that day.
It was as if he was looking at an enemy, with hatred, regret, and a myriad of complex emotions intertwined in his gaze.
She had seen that kind of gaze before.
In the dark, damp rehab center. Her addiction flared up, causing her to writhe on the ground in pain. Her grandfather came to the rehab center to see her. She grabbed his wrist, begging him to take her away. He just looked at her without saying a word, and that gaze was the same as now—filled with conflicting emotions of love and hate, as if he wished he’d never met her, stained with intense hatred.
Aurelia hesitated for a moment, but finally pushed the door open and went in.
With her head down, she dared not look at the person on the bed, gripping the flowers tightly, even her breath was tense. Her eyelashes fluttered a few times, seemingly gathering courage to look at the person on the bed.
When her gaze met Kai Nightshade’s, Aurelia’s heart skipped a beat, unconsciously wanting to avoid eye contact. But avoidance had long since ceased to be her style. They locked eyes for a long time before Aurelia moved her lips and spoke first, "Grandfather, I happened to be passing by the hospital. If you don’t want to see me, I’ll leave these flowers and go."
"Sigh." Kai Nightshade sighed, "I’m an old man now, just disliked by young folks."
