Balthazar’s eyes lit up, surprised that Aurelia would ask about his health. He joyfully spoke, but his words stumbled, "Dad’s fine, don’t worry, my health has improved a lot. The doctor checked just now, and everything’s okay. You don’t need to worry."

"Okay." Aurelia replied calmly, suddenly running out of things to talk about.

Balthazar’s mood sank again.

Aurelia glanced at him, her lips moved, and she finally spoke, "Get some rest. I’ve arranged for bodyguards at the door. I’ll be training them during this time, so there won’t be incidents like this again. Also, you’ll have bodyguards ensuring your safety when you go out."

Aurelia paused and explained, "Don’t misunderstand, they’re not monitoring you. These bodyguards have worked with the Shaw Family for years; you know them well. I’m just trying to prevent similar things from happening again."

"Dad didn’t overthink it." Balthazar said, pausing for a moment. Seeing Aurelia about to leave, he hurriedly blurted out, "Are you... are you going back to M Nation?"

The butler had already informed him of everything that transpired. To be honest, he hadn’t expected Aurelia to return for him, nor did he expect her to worry about his safety.

"I’ll be staying here for some time." Aurelia said no more and left.

She and Balthazar never lived together for long. Since she was five, she resisted this family, resenting her father for betraying her mother and allowing a stranger woman into her home. So many years of separation and resentment made it impossible for father and daughter to interact like a normal parent and child.

Back in the car, Aurelia lazily lay on Mason Nightshade’s lap, playing with his hand, her delicate fingers pinching his chin lightly. She asked with a teasing smile, "In the army, there are many interrogation techniques. Why didn’t you directly press Balthazar?"

He probably wanted to uncover the truth from those years more than anyone else.

Not taking action against Balthazar or using harsh interrogation methods wasn’t just to avoid revealing the past events for others to notice but also likely because of her.

Mason’s eyes were dark; he lowered his head and kissed her lips. It seemed he couldn’t get enough, like an addiction, not answering her question.

Aurelia wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss she initiated, until they were both breathless. Only then, reluctantly, she parted her lips, pecking at his lips like a chick pecking grains.

Aurelia didn’t shy away, simply gazing into his eyes, "Whatever you want to do, anything is fine."

"Are you sure?" Mason raised an eyebrow, his large hand boldly exploring inside her clothing.

"That’s not what I meant!" Is this wolf only filled with those thoughts every day? "You’ve already repaid what you owe me. Among the living in this world, you’re the most important person to me. There’s no need to spare my concerns in some matters.

I won’t forgive those who hurt you."

"Okay, I understand, my dear spoiled wife." Mason chuckled softly.

Aurelia responded to his question.

Though he said that, Aurelia knew this wolf’s wildness was never turned towards her or anyone related to her. He would rather use other methods than make her feel uncomfortable in the slightest.

...

The two affectionately returned home.

The next day.

Aurelia opened her room door, only to see a pair of wide-open, expectant eyes staring at her. She paused for a moment, bewildered as she gazed into the youth’s eager and hopeful eyes.

Until the light in those eyes started to dim, Aurelia suddenly remembered.
