Chapter 1195: What Secret Is She Hiding?
The girl wore black-framed glasses, her face covered with thick makeup like a ghost, with coarse eyebrows and dark red lipstick, her gaze uncertain, but the eyes behind the lenses were bright and carried a hint of cool indifference.
This hint of cool indifference inadvertently slipped out, just in time to be captured by the phone owner.
Alaric Wood remembered the day he took the photo and couldn’t help but smile.
...
The street was silent late at night. A car slowly drove up and stopped. Mark Campbell got out of the car, hearing some movement behind him, he shut the door mercilessly, warning the person inside the car, "Do not come out!"
Mason Campbell glared at him angrily, about to defy his father’s orders, but Mark Campbell locked the car, leaving Mason fuming inside.
Big bully!
"Young Master." His subordinate handed over two items hesitantly, "We lost the person, only found these two things."
Mark Campbell glanced at the wig and human skin mask, furrowing his brows, "Useless things!"
Who on earth has Aurelia Shaw offended? Someone with such high-level disguise skills had infiltrated this banquet. Although it wasn’t intentional to direct public opinion toward her, the target was definitely her.
What secret is she still hiding?
...
The police station’s lights were bright, the usually tranquil office was now filled with an unusual atmosphere, simply because in the interrogation room sat a popular star, suspected of intentional homicide, and one of the most esteemed figures in Q City.
Aurelia Shaw’s eyelashes were slightly lowered, the room dimly lit, her eyes red-rimmed. The light made her skin almost look transparently pale, a deep sorrow flowing beneath her eyes as if she were a startled cat, seemingly wrongly accused, mistakenly brought into the police station.
The police dared not stare at her, pretended to pick up a pen, and said somberly, "Nico Spencer said Cymbeline Jennings returned to the bedroom for a necklace, but we didn’t find that necklace at the Spencer Residence, and you said you never saw such a necklace, if you don’t mind...could we search your person?"
Aurelia Shaw stood up, "You may."
The male officer couldn’t conduct the search himself, so he had a female officer search her in a private room. The female officer came out shaking her head, "No necklace."
No? Could Nico Spencer be lying?
"Officer, can I leave now?" Aurelia Shaw looked at the officer with frightened eyes.
"Yes, yes..." The officer had someone escort Aurelia and the others out.
Mason Nightshade held Aurelia Shaw’s hand as they got into the car. Aurelia saw the look in Mason Nightshade’s eyes, which seemed to be asking her for an explanation. Aurelia sighed softly on Mason’s chest, "Mason, I’m so tired. Could I rest for a while?"
Mason Nightshade’s heart ached with pain, kissing the top of her head gently, "Sleep, I’ll wake you when we get home."
Aurelia said she would sleep, but she didn’t really fall asleep. Today’s events left her mentally exhausted, overwhelmed by what she knew, too much information; she didn’t know how to explain it to Mason.
So as soon as the car stopped, Aurelia opened her eyes.
Mason Nightshade originally didn’t plan to wake her, but seeing her awake, he withdrew his arms, kissed her forehead, "We’re home."
Aurelia glanced at the luxurious Nightshade Residence shrouded in night and then looked at Mason with an inquisitive gaze.
Mason Nightshade explained, "We’re staying here tonight."
After speaking, he led Aurelia out of the car.
Looking at the hand holding hers, a ripple formed in Aurelia’s heart. There were too many people at Cloud Pavilion Garden; if she went back, Oberon would surely pester her, and in her current state, she certainly couldn’t deal with Oberon and Aunt Jing’s questions. He had thought of everything.
