Chapter 1246: I Thought You’d Heard of My Way of Handling Things
Emily Stewart looked haggard, her eyes red and swollen; it seemed as if she had lost a lot of weight overnight, her wrinkled clothes hanging loosely on her frame.
Stopping in front of her, Mason Nightshade gazed at her coldly, devoid of any emotion in his eyes, "You should know what I want to find out."
Emily Stewart remained silent.
"Today, the butler Nolan Lawson attempted to kill Aurelia Shaw." Mason Nightshade’s lips curled coldly, "Considering that he has served the Nightshade Family for so many years, I didn’t do anything drastic to him. But the way he’s dealt with entirely depends on you; I won’t leave a dangerous person roaming free—you should understand that."
Emily’s eyes widened suddenly, "Mason, Uncle Nolan was just too anxious; as a father, he was simply heartbroken over his son. He’s served the Nightshade Family for years—what’s wrong with avenging his son? Are you going to strike so cruelly against an elder who has cared for you since childhood, just for a woman?"
"I thought you’d already heard from others about how I handle things." Mason Nightshade said icily.
Grayson Quinn thought mockingly: This sure is twisting the truth; the Nightshade Family treats its servants well, and many are fighting tooth and nail to get in. Despite Nolan’s long years of service, even when he grew old and unable to fulfill his duties, he wasn’t dismissed but was paid double, given a place to live. Otherwise, where does he think the money to raise his son came from?
Instead of appreciating this kindness, they take the Nightshade’s care for granted and claim to have done the master a favor; their brains seem as if they’ve been kicked by a mule.
However, Mason never explains these things, nor does he care.
Talking to them about such things is useless; they’ll never agree, only believing we’re abandoning a loyal servant.
Emily’s eyes were filled with empty despair as Mason sat quietly on the sofa, waiting, his long legs crossed and an aura so powerful no one could ignore him. Simply locking eyes with his dark gaze could make anyone feel suffocating pain.
Emily stammered as she began to speak, "He and I..."
"I’m not interested in hearing about your loving relationship. Since you don’t have what I want, there’s no need to continue." Mason abruptly stood up, stepping away.
"Wait!" Emily hurriedly spoke, "I love him; I wouldn’t kill him—even if it cost my life, I couldn’t kill him. If it’s not Aurelia Shaw, there’s definitely someone else. He’s been close with someone recently.
That person gave him some money to do something, but I don’t know who that person is."
Mason paused his steps but left without turning back.
Emily collapsed onto the sofa in despair; this man was truly heartless. What kind of person could enter the heart of such a heartless man?
...
On the open balcony on the second floor hung a hammock, where Aurelia Shaw lazily yawned. She glanced at the dark gate; the car that had left hadn’t returned. Her eyes were slightly red; she had waited a long time, flipping through her phone.
On it was information that Hadrian Turner had sent her about Nolan Lawson.
It was through this information that she learned about the connection between Nolan Lawson and the butler; she had underestimated the other party, never imagining that someone who had diligently worked at the Nightshade Family for so many years would truly attempt to kill her.
The information also documented the relationship between Nolan Lawson and Emily Stewart.
The two had known each other since childhood, which greatly surprised Aurelia Shaw, further piquing her interest as it was similar to her encounter with Mason Nightshade.
