Chapter 1269: Henry Fletcher Observing from the Shadows
Aurelia Shaw collided with a pair of lifeless eyes, and the moment she realized who they belonged to, she internally cursed, "So damn unlucky!"
Why did she have to run into him?
Henry Fletcher’s gaze at Aurelia didn’t change, but his heart was unsettled. He wondered: What was the meaning behind the way this woman was looking at him? Did she know him from before? But in his memory, he had never met this woman.
The first thought that popped into Aurelia’s mind was to stay far away from him; this man was a nutcase.
However, just as Aurelia was about to stand up, she was blocked by a row of people.
The light around her dimmed, giving her the illusion of being surrounded by a gang.
Seeing her trying to leave, Henry reflexively wanted to stop her. This woman was odd and suspicious. But when he saw a few people surrounding Aurelia, he dismissed the thought.
He continued to act as if he were invisible.
Aurelia raised an eyebrow, her red lips forming a beautiful arc, lazy and mischievous. Her slightly upturned eyes exuded more presence than the people standing in front of her.
Henry noticed this too.
"Move aside, don’t block my view of the handsome guy," Aurelia said lazily. In fact, she wasn’t afraid of Iris Cooper misunderstanding her. In her heart, she despised those who disliked her; no matter how hard you try to change their perception, they’ll always dislike you.
If that’s the case, why waste time and energy on people who despise you?
Let them misunderstand however they want; Aurelia cared only about the opinions of the people she valued.
"Are you broke or what? Scamming people out of their money, doesn’t the Shaw Family give you any spending money? Well, it makes sense, what’s a small company gonna make in a year, maybe not even 888,888, no wonder you’re scamming others’ money," Iris Cooper mocked.
Are shameless people all this thick-skinned? Aurelia stroked her chin in thought, "Huh, I remember Miss Cooper being quite generous when she paid earlier, throwing money in the other guy’s face; turned out it was just fake generosity?"
"That was your cunning scheme!" Iris retorted, without a hint of guilt, confidently accusing Aurelia, as if Aurelia was the one in the wrong, not her.
"If you were so easily schemed, doesn’t that suggest you’re stupid? Going around claiming you’re stupid and got conned by others, are you afraid others don’t know you’re dumb?" Aurelia quipped, lazily staring at Iris, whose aura wasn’t aggressive but rather embarrassing herself.
She slowly said, "If I were you, I’d swallow this whole ordeal, consider 888,888 a lesson learned. Saying it out loud is just embarrassing. You bring a group here to make a fuss, hoping more people know about your stupidity?"
"You..." Iris noticed many around her mocking her with their eyes and just wanted to find a hole to crawl into.
The people with her also felt the awkward atmosphere. Causing such an embarrassing scene and still calling them to help her seek justice; if she wants to be embarrassed, she should do it alone, not drag them along.
Worried that people around might mistake them as being as stupid as Iris, they gradually backed away, distancing themselves from Iris and severing ties with her.
"You shameless woman, what right do you have to lecture me? Are you noble? You’ve got a man, yet you’re here fishing for others. Really think you’re so high and mighty?" Iris sneered, her gaze fiery with anger and disdain for Aurelia.
