Chapter 279.2: Sixth Growth at Last! Blood Rebirth, Ten Thousand Transformations, Immortal and Imperishable! (II)
This time, he had very nearly more demon plants than he could use, so he stood on no ceremony with them, burning through them in quantity to drive his Martial Dao up. The approach proved thoroughly effective. In one short month, his progress had reached ninety-nine percent, and a hundred looked likely to happen in the next few hours.
Boom!
Suddenly, a shudder went through his whole body. Immediately afterward, Lu Changsheng sensed, through an inexplicable intuition, the Martial Dao hanging in the air.
This world's Martial Dao had long since transformed up to Sixth Growth. The count of blood descendants climbed every day. Just how terrifying was the will of the multitude? Piled together, it had pushed the Martial Dao through its breakthrough long ago, all the way to this world's ceiling.
With the Martial Dao there to guide him, Lu Changsheng had reached a hundred percent progress in Fifth Growth, and breaking through into Sixth Growth would cost nothing at all. He felt his way across the Martial Dao in the air for a moment, then drew down a thread of its true meaning.
Boom!
At that moment, his Flesh and Blood Martial Dao broke through, and his fleshly body transformed violently. He had achieved Sixth Growth, this world's ceiling, which made the breakthrough greatly significant.
Every scrap of flesh on him was transforming like crazy. All at once, he turned into great masses of flesh as though he had never held a shape at all. The density of that flesh climbed wildly until it reached a point nothing could be measured against.
The road he walked was the Flesh and Blood Martial Dao, and Sixth Growth matched a Martial Saint. As such, every strand of flesh in him at the moment seemed to have a consciousness of its own.
In the chamber, one mass of flesh took on Lu Changsheng's shape. Then a second, a third, a fourth, a fifth... Every figure was Lu Changsheng, and every one of them had been made out of his flesh.
However, the clones no longer wore the wooden expressions of before. Every one of them was vividly alive.
"Congratulations, Fellow Daoist."
"My congratulations, Fellow Daoist."
"The flesh and blood transformation, Ten Thousand Transformations, Blood Rebirth, Immortal and Imperishable!"
Every Lu Changsheng there smiled the same knowing smile.
The sight of it was deeply uncanny, enough to put a chill through anyone watching. Each clone seemed to be Lu Changsheng, yet at the same time, they didnβt seem to be him. It was a very strange sight.
The clones flowed back together soon enough until Lu Changsheng's figure appeared once more. This time, there was only one figure and no more.
"I've done it!"
A smile appeared on Lu Changsheng's face as he called up the Status Panel.
[Status Panel]
Host: Lu Changsheng

Title: Flesh and Blood Progenitor
Flesh and Blood Martial Dao: Sixth Growth
Innate Abilities: Blood Rebirth, Ten Thousand Transformations, Immortal and Imperishable
His Flesh and Blood Martial Dao stood at Sixth Growth on the panel, and just as he had thought, no progress figure followed it. That meant his realm had reached this world's ceiling, and he could raise it no further.
What interested him more was the line of innate abilities newly appeared on the panel. No such line had shown last time. Fifth Growth had carried no innate abilities at all, which meant these had come only with the climb into Sixth Growth and belonged to Sixth Growth alone.
"Blood Rebirth..." Understanding arrived in him the way inspiration did, and he immediately grasped what the ability meant. Even if only a single drop of his blood remained, he could resurrect himself. He would be a good deal weaker at the worst of it, but devouring enough flesh would bring his strength back again.
In other words, so long as he kept enough blood or flesh hidden away, essentially nothing could go wrong for him. He would not die! Or rather, he had become very hard to kill.
It worked differently from the demon race. Demons genuinely could not be killed. Lu Changsheng's case was another thing. He could leave flesh and blood of his own hidden in various places, and once his true self died, the blood and flesh he had left behind could restore him. That was what Blood Rebirth meant.
In a certain sense, it was more frightening than the immortal power of demons. Their immortal power could now be countered by the flesh of a blood descendant. Against Blood Rebirth, there was genuinely nothing to be done. After all, who could say how much blood Lu Changsheng had hidden away?
"The second ability... Ten Thousand Transformations..."
Buzz!
With a will on his end, Lu Changsheng transformed into a flood dragon, then into a taotie, which was unmistakably the ancient demon Taozun. Then more transformations followed.
Ten Thousand Transformations... There are truly ten thousand of them. I hold the real abilities of whatever I turn into, but I can only take the form of something one tier below me, and I need a piece of it first, like a hair or some flesh or the like. Without that, I can only achieve the form but not the spirit.
He tried it again. Ten Thousand Transformations had a great deal of use in it. It didn't matter at all if what manifested was of a slightly lower level than his own since he could simply have a clone do the changing.
The last ability was Immortal and Imperishable, which for Lu Changsheng was of fairly thin value. Immortal and Imperishable applied to this world alone, as this world had condensed a Martial Dao, and on the foundation of the Flesh and Blood Martial Dao at that.
So for as long as that Martial Dao did not vanish, any martial artist who reached Sixth Growth by the Flesh and Blood Martial Dao was immortal and imperishable, with close to eternal life. However, once they stepped outside this world, that ability was gone.
Whichever way he looked at it, reaching Sixth Growth had brought him three innate abilities, and every one of them was terrifying. It amounted very nearly to a transformation.
"That will do."
With that, he rose and left the chamber.
Liu Feng had been keeping watch outside the whole time. The moment the door opened, he came straight to Lu Changsheng and bowed respectfully. "I greet the progenitor."
"Good, thank you for your hard work to have stood guard out here the whole time. What news has come out of the demon race outside?" Lu Changsheng asked.
"Lord Progenitor, the demon nation has been very quiet this month," Liu Feng answered. "Not a word has come even out of the Flower Spirit Hall. It is as though the demon race has gone completely silent.
"By our temple's intelligence, the demons have stopped hunting down the many blood descendants in the demon nation, which has given a great many of them room to breathe.
βThat is entirely the Lord Progenitor's doing. Had you not torn the Flower Spirit Hall apart and beaten the ancient demon Taozun to strike enough fear into those ancient demons that they dare not keep up the hunt, the count of blood descendants here would very likely have fallen a great deal further."
Liu Feng looked genuinely pleased about it. Unlike before, things did appear to be turning for the blood descendants. Gone were the days when it had seemed they might be wiped out of the demon nation at any moment.
Lu Changsheng's eyes narrowed slightly. "The demon race has gone quiet?"
He was nowhere near as optimistic as Liu Feng. Something in him sensed that the demon race would not let the matter drop so easily. Their going quiet had nothing to do with wariness of him or fear of him. It was far more likely to be the stillness before a storm.
The demon race was about to make a large move, and it would very likely be aimed at him. They might even be confident of cutting him down, and that was the reason for the quiet.
If they could kill the Flesh and Blood Progenitor whenever they chose, then going quiet for a while served only to keep from beating the grass and startling the snake, so that one strike could finish him.
The fight with Taozun should have made it very clear to the creature that killing him was no easy thing. Even several ancient demons surrounding him together might still fail to do it. There was perhaps only one thing that could kill him with certainty, and that was a Demon Progenitor.
A Demon Progenitor among them was very likely close to waking, and only with one awake could the demon race be certain of killing him. It was just a pity that it had come too late. The demon race was waiting on its progenitor, but had Lu Changsheng not been waiting himself? A month had gone by, and the tide had turned his way. At this point, who was going to kill whom?
