Tou no Madoushi
Episode 30: Market Failure
Seleka, a senior aristocrat, watched the confusion that was spreading downstairs as she crossed the bridge of light.
"What's up, Seleka? If we don't hurry, we'll be late."
A man in a black robe, master of Seleka, hurries.
But Seleka is pointing that sharp gaze downwards as she stops.
The eyes behind her silver-edged glasses looked at the factory as harshly as a eagle aimed at prey.
Those eyes make a harsh and unattainable impression to go with her gray hair.
"Hey, Seleka. What are you doing?"
"... Hey, Yuin. Why are they doing something so inefficient?
"What?"
"We could use more advanced magic."
She pointed down.
"I guess this is, in short, boxed and shipped a product that could be done. It should be easier if you use the Magic Formation and the Spirit. Why wouldn't you?
"Yeah, 'cause that's the only way I know how."
"So why don't their supervisors and masters teach them other ways?
"It's the one called impotent lower class shallow wisdom. Miss Seleka."
Yuyne said, distorting his mouth and grinning at him in a retrograde manner.
Seleka frowns at Yuin's attitude.
I hire him as a master because he is good at public knowledge for the aristocratic class, but I didn't like his voter-minded values and a lot of talking.
"Because it's a waste of time. There is no room for supervisors or masters to devote their time for them or their in-laws. They think it's more reasonable to get paid than to teach them advanced skills."
……
Seleka still didn't seem convinced.
"That wand."
"What?
"Why are you letting me use such a crude cane? You can't even work with a cane like that, can you?
"I'm not letting you use that. They buy it for themselves."
"Like it yourself?
"It's cheap. They were blinded by the cheap and caught crude."
"So, what's the selling side? Why does the Chamber of Commerce bother selling cheap goods? Isn't something expensive more profitable?
"Not really. Because crude products are more quickly broken and can be replaced, even if the price is lower, the business is closed. I can recover profits as a result."
"What the hell is that? It's not like a fraud."
"I also say yes. But if it matches demand and supply, they say it's good business, not fraud."
"That's a trick."
"I know what you're saying. But they're not the only ones who wanted this situation, a situation where the market is full of crude but inexpensive goods. The Chamber of Commerce didn't push or sell against them. I just arranged the products in the store. They bought it themselves. No matter how poor they get, that's not what the Chamber of Commerce found out. It's called self-responsibility."
"Self-blame? It's your own fault?
"That's right. It's your own fault. They keep buying crude cheap stuff no matter how much work efficiency goes down, how much time they waste and how much wages go down. Naturally, we have to supply the market with cheaper and cruder products as a chamber of commerce. Look, Miss Seleka."
Yuin shows it by spreading his hands to show the truth of the world and showing the confusion on earth.
"The market is overflowing with crude goods. This is what they wanted!
The factory floor has an unbroken cane rolling all over it to build a pile of garbage.
People were hurting each other without even knowing why they were seeing each other like this.
(How irrational! such a distorted world, shouldn't someone rectify it)
Seleka stares at the ground with her teeth clenched.
"Don't worry about yourself more than that. I guess you haven't filed a report on the assignment yet, have you? If you're distracted because you're a privileged student, you'll drop it as soon as you can."
"I know. Shut up."
Seleka is caught in powerlessness.
(Yes, we all do the best we can about ourselves. I can't even afford to be helping them)
Fu and Seleka noticed the existence of a compartment that looked different from the others. The workers are strangely calm and all equipped with relatively expensive canes.
(Is that... Dale's wand?)
Seleka seems to be directing the workers. Watch the two boys.
Am I as old as myself?
He was a contrast between a tung-tung-haired kid who looked like Yancha and a quiet-looking kid.
They seemed to be talking about what they were going to do.
In front of them there are products that have collapsed due to the protuberance of the ground and products that have become dusty and sandy due to the disease.
Products made by magic because of this will not be able to be shipped with that.
(What are you gonna do?
Seleka continued her observations.
"Theo, what do we do with this?
"You can't ship broken minutes. Let's do something about this dusty guy over here."
"But it's hard to clean this."
The product is covered with a lot of dust and sand.
It won't be over by the end of the day if it's all going to be removed.
"The book I read before contained a story about a magician who revived a city buried in rubbish. According to that, he had a tornado and blew up all the garbage."
"A tornado... our magic means we don't have enough power to start a tornado."
"You don't have to do anything that far. The point is, you just have to suck off the dust and sand. Although Dale's wand is meant to carry heavy objects, it should be able to carry even fine ones. We need to do extensive magic to adjust the force so that only sand and dust can be pulled on a particle by particle basis."
"But generally speaking of sand and dust, although they weigh each other and will pull them to fit each and every weight... You can't adjust that fine."
"Yeah. That's why we're auxiliary with the magic team. That should fine-tune it."
"I see."
"Lynn, can I manipulate the wand? I have more power, but you should be better at fine manipulation. I'll draw the magic team."
"Yeah. Okay."
When Theo instructs his workers to fix the product firmly, he begins to draw a magic formation.
Lynn stood over Theo's drawn magic formation and focused her attention.
(You can't use too much force. Just a little bit. like a breeze)
Where concentration has increased sufficiently, a cane is put up and a spell is cast.
"It's Dale's wand. Raise the sand, dust, and other fine particles covered in the product from the surrounding air."
An air flow occurs between the product mountain and phosphorus. Parallax and sand and dust begin to float and cling to the wand.
"No. It's too late. This would be quicker to pay for dust with your hands.
"Okay. Well, let's add some rotation.
Theo redraws the magic formation and Lynn casts a spell again. Then now the air between the product and the phosphorus starts to whirl. With tremendous momentum, sand and dust wind up in the air and cling to the phosphorus wand. The dust also came down on Phosphorus's body as he swept the vortex in momentum.
"Buh."
Lynn gets dusty.
"Okay. Success."
The dust is cleanly removed from the product and returned to shippable condition. Theo gave instructions to pack again.
"Now we can ship the norm for now. And this magic is good. Can also be used to clean rooms. This magic name does......, let's call it a fully automatic vacuum cleaner"
"Uh, Mr. Theo. Now I'm dusty."
Lynn raises a protest when Theo is immersed in joy by himself.
"Hmm. It's this magic challenge that makes the magic activator dusty. Do you need something like a filter that separates air from dust between the activator and the cleaning object"
"I see. So the activator is protected from dust.... No, I'm not! Theo, you made me do this because you don't want to get all dusty!
"Sorry. Sorry. Go to the bath and laundry on your way home today. I'll pay for bathing, laundry and expenses.
Theo told me not to.
"Ugh. What about this one?
Point to the product range where phosphorus has been rolled over. I tried to protect it as much as I could, but it still got a little shabby.
"We're returning it to Manufacturing. We just have to fix it or get it made new."
"I wonder who's going to pay for this repair or something," Lynn says as she lowers her mind.
"You've decided to make me pay with that senior nobleman. Damn you, you broke your apparatus, and those seven lights."
Theo quickly checks the number of damaged products and manufacturing lots while malicious.
"I'm going to ask the director what to do with this. Can I ask you to stay here for a second?
"Yeah. I got it."
Theo ran out sewing between the crowds when he told Lynn some about the ensuing procedure.
"Yuin, look. Those kids" Seleka spoke to Yuin again and pointed to Lynn and Theo.
"Hmm? What?... well. You're using a good cane."
"And I'm also devising a technique," Seleka said pointing to Theo's drawn magic formation.
"You're brilliant. If I were a nobleman, I would have gone up quite a bit, but in that capacity..."
Yuyne shrugged her shoulders and lost interest. I'm just moving on.
Still, Seleka felt like she was saved and only a little energized.
Seleka skips Lynn and Theo again. They both work to play in this hellish scene.
(Some kids work hard to come up with a good idea in such a bad environment. I'll do my best, too)
Lynn remembers the magic the senior nobles had unleashed earlier with a blurry view of the workers moving busily.
(That was awesome power)
They didn't seem very smart, but the power was real. He must have followed a powerful spirit or possessed advanced knowledge of magic.
(Connection…)
Lynn remembered what Yuven was saying.
(Magrilheim belongs to a lot of elites, including senior nobles. Expedition of the Hedin Forest. Will I see them there again)
Hedin's exploration of the woods was imminent until a few days later.
