Transition to Another World, Landmines Included

363 What is the value of the sea (2)

"And what do you do with that? You call them from other towns?

"Another way, though, is to use the adventurer as an escort and the guild staff will go,"

"Alliance Staff......"

I look around in the guild at Mr. Diola's words, but let me be clear, the number of officials here is small.

I guess there are a few uncles in the warehouse and some officials who aren't on the table......

"Isn't that dangerous?

"Finally, that escort is us, isn't it? I'm afraid to take the amateur?

"Right. We're not very good at escorts - we don't have much experience."

If you have a highly-ranked adventurer who can escort you to the next level, there's no need for guild staff to go in the first place.

It's combative, except maybe if you're a bad bareback and low-ranked adventurer, but it's a little impossible to escort someone like that, and we can't tolerate those adventurers going into the dungeon either.

"That's it, isn't it? It's fine with me, but as far as Halka and the others are concerned, it's going to be tough."

"I mean, can Mr. Diola fight to some extent?

"Yeah, it's really 'to some extent'. I'm not rich, but I was still wealthier than the civilians."

Simply put, I got enough time to work out my body, that seems to be the case.

If you get out of town, you're in immediate danger. This world, if you can afford it, you've never crossed the line to build your body. Because it involves life.

"So I guess we'll have to ask the Branch Manager here"

"When it comes to branch managers... you've only been there once. Was it Mr. Marks?

"You remember it well. Yes, Marks."

That's nuts.

I only met him once a year or so ago.

Something about what I remember, the fact that the branch manager's head hair was a little retracted and that he had quite a bit of trained flesh.

To be honest, even his face is blurry.

"I don't have much to do with us, but are you an amazing person?

"He is a former Rank VIII adventurer. Even in two layers, you can go about enough."

"Eight!? That's a rare level of adventurer, isn't it?

"Rank, it's not equal-strength, but it definitely seemed pretty strong, didn't it? It's been years since I retired, so now I don't know how much I can move."

"Why would someone like that have a branch manager in a place like this...?

"No, when adventurers want to get a position in the guild, they need that much rank, so it's not so surprising there, is it?

"Oh, really?"

A different issue from being competent as an adventurer and being able to do guild work.

If they are of high rank, they will be recruited as officials of the Alliance after retirement, which seems not so simple.

Most importantly, it seems easy to get a job without trust from the Alliance because it cannot be high ranked, and if it is high ranked, it has a lot of knowledge and experience in adventure.

"But if it was rank eight, you wouldn't have to work, would you? Think normally."

Our rank now is six.

Still, to the point where I'm not anxious about my immediate life, I make enough money.

If it were rank eight, it would have been superfluous.

"Mr. Toya, not all adventurers are as planned as you are, are they?

"... oh, I don't carry overnight money, or something?

"That's a lot of people. Most importantly, the branch manager saves well and seems to have a lot of money... because he also has a family. I'm playing because I have money, I can't believe it, can I?

"" "Ah......" "

We leak convincing voices unintentionally.

If it's just your wife, it's still a bit of an alley if you have kids.

Thinking about it, even if you don't make much money, even retired adventurers can do it, a safe job might be necessary. For the rest of my life.

If a kid thinks' Dad's always playing 'or something, you're shocked?

"In the meantime, I would like to consult with the Branch Manager to confirm my plans and, once again, request an escort from Mr. Hulka and the others, could you please do it?

"Of course that's... that's good, right?

"Oh, isn't that good? Conversely, it's difficult to get on your own."

"Don't worry, I won't go in there on my own. Even if you ask someone else to escort you, naturally, you can't go in without your permission."

"Then don't worry. So, when you've decided on the details, will you let me know?

"Yes, I think it will be decided in a few weeks at the latest, so I won't be away much for a while and if you can wait, it will help"

◇ ◇ ◇

"I'm a little surprised there's an ocean."

"I've never seen the ocean before. It was huge!

Back from the guild, relaxing in the living room, we were discussing the sea we saw in the dungeon again.

Meetia seemed to be right, touching something called the ocean for the first time, spreading her hands like she was excited, jumping. They describe the size of the ocean in some way.

I guess that's the same with Mary, but she's sitting quietly, holding on as a sister - but I guess she remembers the ocean around her subtle softness and her tail shaking.

By contrast, we have naturally seen the sea, although not in this world, so surprise and wonder prevail over excitement.

"There is a dungeon where the sea exists, it said..."

"Yeah. I didn't know it was there."

Very rarely do there exist dungeons with oceans, which are described in our books on dungeons.

It doesn't say what the odds are of that 'very rare', but Ms Diola also said 'not in this country', so I'm pretty sure it's pretty rare.

Most importantly, because the dungeon itself does not exist in so many places, there would be a slightly smaller number of samples to calculate the frequency of occurrence statistically, and I don't even feel like I can guess much because I just gave the probability and I'm not even sure how much accurate information is released.

"By the way, how do we move on to a hierarchy where the ocean is? No way, we're gonna swim in, right?

"That just doesn't... I'd like to think so. To the extent it says in the book I have now, it looks like there's no record of me going any further."

"If you're being precise, after you went first, 'there's no record of your return', is there? Some adventurers seemed to have gutted out by boat or dived underwater..."

"There's a demon."

Demons exist in the sea of this world, as a matter of course.

Its strength is pink, from levels that are very different from normal fish to the threat of even sinking a ship.

Even in the original world there are sharks, toxic organisms that die just from being stabbed, and the dangers alone may not be that different, but the difference is the highly aggressive and the presence of giant demons?

However, there seems to be a bias in the distribution of demons that can sink such ships, and coastal fishing is also normally carried out where concentrations are thin.

Conversely, large and durable ships are mandatory in densely concentrated areas.

Still, if you go out into the pelagic ocean, you will be more frequently shipwrecked, so the danger of this ocean will not be the ratio of the original world.

Although, I don't know about the shipwreck rate in an era when there were only wooden ships, so it may not be very different compared to that time.

"I'd like to move on, but I can't bring in a big ship."

"Exactly. The ship... you can't. Not if it's a building."

"It's beyond what we can do with DIY."

We're talking to Mr. Simon about ordering a prefabricated cabin and trying to assemble it in front of the dungeon, but it's understandable that it's just reckless to disassemble and assemble a large ship.

If it's about the cabin, even if it collapsed and was underlaid, if it's us now, it's probably okay.

But the ocean can't.

If you sink, you die. Of course.

"Uh-huh, a boat like that in a magic bag is too dangerous."

"I can't, absolutely. The waves of the ocean, they're not going to be in style, are they?

Toya shakes her head when she tells Yuki to confirm.

"Really? No, I can imagine it's dangerous, but on second thought, I've never really been on a boat."

"Well, lately, I haven't had much of a chance. Even large ships are pretty... awesome when they're rough"

I'm sure you've been on it, Toya, saying it in pretty serious shape.

I didn't have to know it back in the day, and when it comes to long-distance travel these days, planes or Shinkansen.

I hardly ever get a chance to board a ship, and I think there are quite a few ships sailing the ocean in Japan...... did they even go to the Ogasawara Islands?

You're traveling plain, Toya. Looks like he was going through some rental housing.

Well, it may be debatable whether the ocean in the dungeon should be referred to as the outside (...) ocean (...), but it would be too optimistic to think that the ocean in the dungeon is safer than the normal ocean.
