Chapter 72: Are You a Pig?
A smile remained on Melody Monroe’s face as she scrolled through her phone again, checking on the items she had listed online.
Last night, she had temporarily suspended the listings. She didn’t have time to deal with them now.
Thankfully, she had received some more of her pay, which would tide her over for a while.
The mention of her pay reminded Melody Monroe of something.
The original owner of her body had gotten injured and lost the role of the second female lead. She shouldn’t have received the pay for that role, yet Rose Shaw had never said a word about the five hundred thousand.
In the original story, Rose Shaw had invested a great deal of energy into the original owner, eventually making her a star.
But later, their relationship soured, and they even became enemies over the female protagonist.
Suddenly, a knock came from the door.
Melody Monroe went to open the door and was surprised to see who was standing outside. "Rose?! What are you doing here so late?"
"I was in the neighborhood and had something to discuss with you, so I came straight over." Rose Shaw walked in and sat on the sofa.
Melody Monroe immediately poured her a glass of water.
Rose Shaw glanced at Melody Monroe, taking in her cartoon pajamas and messy hair, and immediately frowned. She reached out to touch Melody’s hair, and as she did, her brows furrowed even more tightly.
"How long has it been since you did a hair treatment?"
’Hair needs treatments?’
"Have you gained weight?"
’Ouch, that stings!’
She quickly felt her waist and stomach. They felt the same as always. ’This is considered fat?’
"Go get your scale."
’A scale? I think I have one, but where is it?’
Melody Monroe found the scale in a cabinet by the door, placed it on the floor, and stepped on.
pounds.
And she was five-foot-six! That was a perfectly healthy weight!
Rose Shaw stared at the number on the scale and roared, "Melody Monroe! Are you a pig? You’ve gained six pounds! What did I tell you? You’re busty, so you have to be under 99 pounds for the best on-screen look! When you’re 105 pounds, you already look like you’re 120 on camera. Do you even have the nerve to step in front of a lens now?!"
Melody Monroe was speechless.
’A bolt from the blue!’
’This is considered fat?!’
"I’m giving you ten days. I don’t care how you do it, you have to get under 99 pounds!" After saying her piece, Rose Shaw strode toward the bathroom.
Melody Monroe quickly followed her.
Rose Shaw spotted an empty bottle—the face cream was all gone! She picked up another bottle and shot Melody a look. A huge bottle of toner that cost next to nothing—how could Melody dare to use this stuff! She couldn’t resist tugging at Melody’s hair again.
"Melody Monroe! If you keep letting yourself go like this, you’re going to ruin your own career! Would you dare let your fans see you right now? Believe me, they’d drop you in a heartbeat!"
’I believe you!’
She snuck a glance at her reflection in the mirror, then immediately lowered her head.
’Honestly, I think I look fine. It’s just that I’m not as perfectly polished as the original owner was.’
The original owner, after all, was the type who was beautiful from head to toe.
And her self-discipline was terrifyingly strict!
"It doesn’t matter how good your natural features are if you don’t take care of them! I heard you’ve been using the set’s makeup. Where’s your own?"
"I think the set’s makeup is pretty good."
Rose Shaw looked like she wanted to throttle Melody Monroe. She walked back out and took a card from her purse.
"This is your pay. If I see you like this again, you can go find yourself a new manager!"
"Rose, I know I was wrong!" Melody Monroe apologized profusely.
Seeing her apologetic attitude, Rose Shaw’s anger subsided a little.
"Rose, about the pay... After I got injured and lost the second female lead role, I shouldn’t be getting this much. And I never returned the money I received before, either."
