Chapter 374 - 373: Mr. Fairchild, You Useless Teammate 5
"I’ll check right now."
"Found it!"
"Evan Fairchild! How is that possible?"
Hearing the name, Melody Monroe’s hand trembled, and the noodle snapped!
"Oh no! What a shame!"
"She stretched it so long, and then it broke!"
Melody Monroe stared at the ruined noodle on the table, feeling utterly frustrated. ’My arms are sore from pulling, and I was so close to succeeding,’ she thought. ’But the moment I heard Evan Fairchild’s name, my heart went into a frenzy!’
Evan Fairchild was still sitting in the coffee shop across the street, watching the livestream.
When he saw Melody Monroe snap the noodle just from hearing his name, a hint of a smile surfaced in his eyes.
’Does she care about me that much? Don’t tell me she’s jealous?’
"Hey, look, wasn’t Eileen Scott’s team just here? That coffee shop across the street, isn’t that the one where Evan Fairchild appeared?"
"Yeah!"
"That’s the one!"
"Is Evan Fairchild still there?"
"Let’s go check and find out!" Nana Owen immediately put her phone away and dashed over.
Melody Monroe was speechless.
She glanced at the coffee shop across the street, her heart pounding with anxiety.
’Didn’t I tell him to keep a low profile? And what does he do? He goes and appears on the show directly!’
"Captain, Eileen Scott’s team just rode on Evan Fairchild’s coattails for a bit and they’ve already surpassed us! Shouldn’t we go and leech off his popularity too?" Shaun Owen asked Melody Monroe.
The livestream camera was still pointed at Melody Monroe. Shaun Owen desperately wanted to lead the camera crew away and over to the coffee shop across the street.
"I’ll try again. Let’s finish the task first." On the surface, Melody Monroe appeared perfectly calm, but inside, she was a nervous wreck.
’Evan Fairchild must still be in the coffee shop across the street. He’s just one road away from me.’
She was terrified he would come out!
A staff member handed her another ball of dough, but Melody Monroe’s mind was completely on Evan Fairchild. "Wait a moment."
She took out her phone and sent a message to Evan Fairchild.
"Where are you right now?"
The moment Evan Fairchild’s phone pinged, he immediately picked it up and replied, "In the coffee shop across from you."
Melody Monroe took a deep breath. ’Just as I thought!’
"Don’t you dare come out!"
Evan Fairchild was left speechless.
After sending the message, Melody Monroe picked up the dough and began to pull the noodle.
Nana Owen and the others ran to the coffee shop and knocked on the door, but there was no response. They walked back to the noodle shop, their faces full of disappointment.
"Eileen Scott is so lucky, managing to run into Evan Fairchild."
"Can you believe it? We were just across the street from that coffee shop. How did we not notice?"
"Alright, stop talking. Don’t distract our captain while she’s pulling the noodle. Let’s just focus on finishing the task. See? Eileen Scott’s team’s popularity is already dropping."
After sending the message, Melody Monroe felt a bit calmer. She started pulling the noodle again.
"Captain! Steady now!" Shaun Owen shouted nervously.
Melody Monroe took a deep breath, folded the noodle over on itself again, sprinkled on some flour, and continued to pull.
The person who issued the challenge saw the noodle in Melody Monroe’s hands and nodded with a smile. It looked like she was about to succeed.
Melody Monroe pulled carefully one more time, then sprinkled on more flour. She felt that one more pull might snap it again. After all, she had pulled one this thin before, but when they measured it, it was only a little over nine meters.
"That should be enough," a staff member reminded her.
Melody Monroe let out a sigh of relief and set the noodle down. A staff member immediately took out a measuring tape and began to measure.
"Twelve meters! Challenge complete!"
"Yay!" Everyone couldn’t help but cheer.
Melody Monroe brushed the flour off her clothes, her heart also thumping with excitement. This task had taken them nearly an hour! They had finally succeeded.
