Chapter 157: A Fairy Tale Becomes Reality
She quickly shut the drawer!
’If I had known there was something this valuable in this drawer, I never would have opened it!’
’Rich people are really on another level. Leaving something so valuable just lying around, unlocked.’
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! A knock sounded at the door.
Melody Monroe turned to see Claire Walsh walking in.
"Miss Monroe, these are all the things Mr. Fairchild asked me to prepare for you. However, I wasn’t sure what style of clothes and accessories you typically prefer. So, for the clothes and shoes, I ordered the latest seasonal collections and selected a few outfits in every style. If there are any you don’t like, just set them aside, and I’ll have them removed."
"You mean, all of this... all of this is... for me?" Melody Monroe could barely form a complete sentence.
’I can’t possibly wrap my head around this!’
"Yes. Everything here belongs to you, Miss Monroe," Claire Walsh confirmed with a nod.
Melody Monroe’s mind went completely blank with a buzz, and she found it hard to breathe. If Claire Walsh hadn’t been standing right there, she might have pinched herself to see if this was real.
"If you need anything else, Miss Monroe, please don’t hesitate to let me know."
"No, I’m fine," Melody Monroe said, quickly shaking her head.
"Well then, I’ll be off for the night."
"Alright."
After Claire Walsh left, Melody Monroe flopped directly onto the sofa, her eyes gazing blankly at the ceiling.
’Melody Monroe! Just let yourself fall!’
’Might as well enjoy it while it lasts! Isn’t there a saying? To die in a bed of peonies is a fine way to go, even if you become a ghost!’
Melody Monroe shot up from the sofa, took a deep breath, and walked toward the bathroom.
’I need to cool off!’
The moment she opened the bathroom door, she froze again!
’I really have no idea how to describe what I’m seeing.’
’I’m speechless!’
’The happiness of the rich is truly beyond imagination.’
’I wouldn’t dare dream of something like this!’
’Fairy tales aren’t lies after all. Rich people can make them come true!’
After a long soak, Melody Monroe, now in a bathrobe, walked over to the vanity. Laid out on top was a full set from a cosmetic brand so expensive that buying just a 15ml bottle of their eye cream would have made her heart ache for days.
’I must have died and gone to heaven!’
After getting ready, Melody Monroe decided not to disturb Ian. She collapsed onto the bed. The soft mattress felt like a warm, comfortable cradle.
But she couldn’t sleep.
She tossed and turned, but sleep just wouldn’t come.
...
「Rockwellburg. Blue Jazz Club, in the most expensive VIP suite.」
"Hey, Cindy~ You up? Mwah! Baby, muah, I love you! I really can’t make it back right now. I’ll come find you as soon as I return, okay? Be good. Go back to sleep."
"Helen, don’t be mad. How could I ever leave you? I just came back to the country for work. Love you! You’re the one I love the most."
"Vivian, baby, I miss you. You’re the last thing on my mind when I go to sleep and the first thing when I wake up."
Evan Fairchild leaned back on the sofa, one hand pressed to his forehead, utterly unable to stand Keith Coleman’s incessant chatter.
’Tommy couldn’t understand it either. President Fairchild was a man who should be at home with his wife and child, warm and cozy in bed. So why was he out late at night looking for a flashy peacock like Keith Coleman?’
"President Fairchild, just one last one," Keith Coleman said to Evan Fairchild before picking up his phone again. "Baby, how could I possibly have another woman? You’re the only one for me, trust me!"
After delivering that final line, Keith Coleman finally put his phone down. He looked at Evan Fairchild with a helpless expression. "President Fairchild, I’m having such a hard time! You tell me, why do they all love me so much?"
Evan Fairchild shot him a cold glance.
’Tommy was rendered speechless. But you had to admit, Keith Coleman had real talent; those girlfriends were the genuine article. He couldn’t help but think that if all of Keith’s girlfriends ever ganged up and killed him, they wouldn’t even leave a complete corpse behind.’
