"Christopher! I’m pregnant! And they’re bullying me like this! I’m so furious!" Lana Sheffield’s aggressive demeanor vanished in an instant as she leaned into Christopher Sterling’s arms.

Rose Shaw watched this scene, her hands clenching into tight fists.

Melody Monroe glanced over at Rose Shaw. She knew that Rose’s heart must be twisting in agony right now.

"President Sterling, it’s like this," Raymond Ford said hastily. "Just now, Mrs. Sterling tried to greet Melody Monroe and Rose Shaw, but they didn’t recognize her, which led to a verbal conflict."

Christopher Sterling glanced at Raymond Ford. Looking through his reflective glasses, Raymond could feel the bone-chilling cold in that gaze.

"President Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is under the impression that you and I are in an improper relationship. I feel it’s necessary to clarify this in your presence," Melody Monroe said, her tone calm and respectful. "Mrs. Sterling just told me to terminate my contract. Should I follow her instructions and terminate my contract with the company?"

"You have no right to interfere in company matters," Christopher Sterling said in a low voice, glancing down at Lana Sheffield.

"Christopher!"

"My relationship with President Sterling is completely professional and aboveboard. I will only clarify this once! I also hope Mrs. Sterling will not have any more misunderstandings in the future," Melody Monroe said, looking at Lana Sheffield.

Meeting Melody Monroe’s gaze, Lana Sheffield immediately looked away, not daring to meet her eyes.

’I’m clearly Christopher Sterling’s legal wife, yet it’s as if I’m the one in the wrong!’

’I just don’t have any proof! The day I find evidence, I’ll make Melody Monroe’s life a living hell! How dare she seduce my man!’

Lana Sheffield seethed with hatred for Melody Monroe, gritting her teeth.

’Is Melody Monroe trying to put me in my place? How dare she complain to Christopher!’

"Furthermore, I expect an apology from Mrs. Sterling for that slap!"

"You!" Lana Sheffield pointed at Melody Monroe.

"Apologize," Christopher Sterling’s voice rang out again, his tone leaving no room for argument.

"Christopher, you want me to apologize to her? Tell me, what is your relationship with her, really? Why are you defending her like this? And you still want me to apologize to her?"

"There is nothing between Melody Monroe and me. You’re the one who can’t tell right from wrong!"

"I can’t tell right from wrong? It’s obvious you’re just trying to protect her! Make me apologize? Impossible! Melody Monroe! Just you wait!" With that, Lana Sheffield turned and stormed off.

"What are you all still standing here for?!" Christopher Sterling’s voice was sharper than ever before.

The onlookers immediately dispersed.

Only Melody Monroe and Rose Shaw remained standing there.

Christopher Sterling saw the trace of blood at the corner of Melody Monroe’s mouth and offered her a handkerchief.

"Melody Monroe, I apologize to you on Lana’s behalf. She’s always been spoiled. Please don’t take what happened today to heart. Something like this will not happen again."

Christopher Sterling’s hand remained outstretched. Melody Monroe took the handkerchief and held it in her palm.

"There’s no need for that, President Sterling. I just don’t want your wife to have this kind of misunderstanding again," Melody Monroe replied softly.

"She won’t," Christopher Sterling promised again.

"If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now."

Rose Shaw glanced at Christopher Sterling, then followed Melody Monroe out.

Melody Monroe sat in the passenger seat. Rose Shaw didn’t start the car right away. Instead, she gently cupped Melody’s chin, examining her face.

"Does it hurt?"

"It does," Melody Monroe nodded.

Rose Shaw hadn’t expected such a straightforward answer from Melody Monroe. She had been holding in her anger, but now she couldn’t help but laugh.

"Let me take you to the hospital to get that looked at."

"It’s not that serious." Melody Monroe took out a mirror to take a look. The mark was so obvious; she figured there was no way to cover it up.
