Chapter 271: He Actually Wanted to Have a Child With Her
Suddenly, Melody heard the door open. She turned and saw Evan Fairchild walk in.
"What are you doing back at this hour?"
"I didn’t have anything this afternoon, so I came home early." As soon as Evan stepped inside, he was greeted by the delicious aroma of food. The scent alone was mouthwatering.
He walked over and wrapped his arms around Melody. For some reason, he was suddenly starting to like it here. It felt so comfortable and cozy.
Melody felt his arms tighten around her and quickly shook her head. "We can’t."
"How many days has it been? Why not yet?"
"It’s only been three days." Melody wished her period would come twice a month!
"It’d be better if it never came."
"Wouldn’t it be scarier if it didn’t?" The very thought was terrifying.
’What’s there to be scared of?’ Evan thought. ’Although he felt that children were a handful, if they had another one, couldn’t he use it as an opportunity to get their marriage certificate?’
Melody didn’t know what to say to that.
"We haven’t been using any protection, so why hasn’t it happened?"
"It’s impossible!"
"Why?" Evan really wanted to know.
’The original Melody had gotten an IUD after giving birth to Ian! It was to make things more convenient for future sugar daddies, and to save herself the trouble.’
"Have you been taking the pill?"
"No, but I’d already taken precautions before." Melody looked at Evan’s serious expression, feeling a pang of surprise.
’Does he actually want to have a child with me?’
"Does it harm your body?"
"No." Melody shook her head.
Evan still felt a deep sense of dissatisfaction, like he was putting in all the work but not getting paid.
His reaction made Melody a little nervous.
She didn’t dare to guess what was really going through his mind.
"You don’t seem to have much going on lately. You should take the time to get your driver’s license. It would make things more convenient," Evan suggested.
Melody was still a little hesitant.
’Her once-packed schedule had been all but wiped clean. It had to be Lana Sheffield’s doing.’
Lately, Raymond Ford’s career was taking off, and she was bringing Rhona Hughes along for the ride.
The two of them were cast in the same movie and had been constantly building hype for it.
Rumor had it that Raymond Ford had also landed a spot on the hottest reality show. She was also making guest appearances on other programs. Her media exposure was through the roof.
She had also started trying to clean up her image, constantly hinting in interviews that she had been framed, that Rose Shaw had abandoned her, and just how hard she had worked.
It wasn’t working out very well, though.
Mostly because her attempt to start a publicity stunt with Zane Langdon had backfired spectacularly.
Lately, she didn’t dare pull a stunt like that again. Even when reporters asked, she would shut down the topic immediately, claiming she only admired Zane Langdon and saw him as a mentor. She’d go on about how much he had helped her during filming.
Zane Langdon’s fans also backed off and stopped attacking her.
Aside from trending for three days after filming wrapped because of Angel’s Tears, there had been no news about Melody at all.
Right now, all she had was the upcoming release of *Warm Wind* and that one new show.
"Are you scared? If you don’t want to get it, that’s fine too."
"No, that’s not it." Melody immediately shook her head. "I’ll do it. I just don’t know how long it will take."
"If you’re fast, it can be done in a little over forty days. Start by studying for the written test. I’ll arrange for a private instructor."
"Okay." Melody nodded.
「Three days later.」
Melody successfully passed her written driver’s test.
She was practically buzzing with excitement as she walked out of the testing center.
Evan, who was waiting for her from a distance, suddenly noticed a group of people starting to surround Melody.
