Chapter 335: Cross-dressing Big Shot
"Please have the team leaders come forward and draw a card."
Melody Monroe stood at the very back. Since she probably wouldn’t get the best one, she figured she might get lucky with whatever was left.
The production team had already revealed a few of the filming locations. As it was a wilderness-themed show, they were all in very remote, desolate areas.
Still, some were better than others, and everyone hoped to draw a location with a more favorable environment.
Melody Monroe took the last card from the box.
The moment she saw the name, she wanted to smack her own hand!
She had done her homework, reading through all the materials the production team had sent out!
Windrift! How fittingly bleak. The place was at the bottom of a canyon—the absolute most remote of all the filming locations, bar none.
"I drew Prynnwater!"
"I got Kragor!"
Melody Monroe looked at her own card, filled with nothing but envy.
She turned to her teammates and threw up her hands in a helpless gesture.
As luck would have it, the camera was pointed right at her again. Seeing her look of helplessness, the netizens couldn’t help but pity her for a whole three seconds.
Her expression instantly spawned a new wave of reaction memes.
"Melody’s inner monologue: ’My life is so hard.’"
"As a fellow unlucky soul, I completely understand how she feels."
"Please, Melody’s teammates, don’t abandon her!"
"When are the live stream channels getting assigned? I need to pick my team! Anyone on Team Melody, Chieftain of the Unlucky, raise your hand! Sound off!"
Melody Monroe walked over to her teammates, her face full of apology.
"I’m so sorry, I have the worst luck. Next time there’s any kind of drawing, one of you has to do it!" Melody Monroe told them.
’With my luck, you probably couldn’t find anyone worse! If someone else had drawn, maybe we could have turned things around!’
"It’s fine! It doesn’t matter where we end up. Don’t lose heart, Captain!" Nana Owen quickly reassured her.
"Exactly, what’s wrong with Windrift? It’s not winter, so we can enjoy a nice southeast breeze!"
"Shaun, are you saying that if it were winter, we’d be out of luck and have nothing to eat?" Jenson Yates clapped Shaun Owen on the shoulder.
"That’s exactly what I mean."
"You! I’m speechless! Can’t you have a little confidence in us?"
"With our luck, we shouldn’t get our hopes up. We should just think of ourselves as cannon fodder here to fill the roster!" As soon as Shaun Owen finished, the rest of them were left speechless.
"Hey, don’t look at me like that, I was just kidding. Maybe we can win! Winning isn’t just about strength or luck! I did my research, and the biggest boosts come from the live stream’s popularity and Support Value. Doing well on the tasks earns goodwill from the audience, but that’s just a secondary factor."
Shaun Owen laid it all out, making perfect sense.
"So, as long as our team’s live stream is good, we can still make a comeback even if we don’t do perfectly on the tasks."
"So, are you planning on cross-dressing for the entire live stream?" Nana Owen teased.
"And what’s wrong with that? Right, Jenson?" Shaun Owen asked Jenson Yates, who had been quiet the whole time.
Jenson Yates rolled his eyes at him. "If anyone’s wearing a dress, it’s going to be you, and you alone!"
"I just thought you’d look better in it than I would! Okay, okay, stop glaring. I’ll just pretend I never said anything!"
Just as their conversation was getting lively, a call for everyone to assemble came from the production area.
The drive from Jansburg to Somberfell would take six hours. If they left now, they could get there by evening.
A guesthouse had already been arranged for them near Somberfell. They would rest for one night, and the live stream would officially begin the next day.
Each guest was allowed to bring four staff members.
Rose Shaw was also going, and with Keith Coleman, they had just the right number of people.
