Chapter 237: Ian Monroe Wants to Eat Your Cooking
A ray of sunlight shone through a gap in the curtains, landing on the bed.
Melody Monroe rubbed her eyes and reached for her phone.
She didn’t know what time she’d fallen asleep last night, and since it was her day off, she hadn’t set an alarm.
Glancing at the time, she tossed her phone aside.
It was past ten.
And it was Saturday.
’She had no idea what excuse she could use to see Ian.’
’Maybe she should wait. Once Evan Fairchild had cooled down, she could try to have a proper talk with him.’
’Why was he so furious last night?’
’Maybe it was just a man’s possessiveness?’
She rolled over and continued to laze in bed.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
Melody Monroe quickly neatened her hair and got up to answer the door.
When she opened the door, Ian Monroe was standing on the other side.
"Mama!"
"Ian?!" Melody Monroe was both surprised and delighted. "What are you doing here? Did Uncle Page bring you?"
"I did." Evan Fairchild’s voice suddenly cut in.
Melody Monroe looked in the direction of the voice. Evan Fairchild was walking toward her, carrying two bags.
She instantly covered her face and tugged at her pajamas.
’She had no idea what a mess she must look like!’
’And then there was this father-son duo, dressed neatly in similar outfits, a stark contrast to her disheveled state!’
She quickly ran to the bathroom and looked in the mirror.
’Thankfully, the mark on her face had faded. There was just a small bruise at the corner of her lip, but it wasn’t noticeable unless you looked closely.’
She quickly combed her hair, tied it up, and came back out.
Evan Fairchild walked straight into the apartment with the bags, changed his shoes, and went to the kitchen to put things away as if it were his own home.
After composing herself, Melody Monroe stared blankly at Ian Monroe and Evan Fairchild, who were standing before her.
"Ian Monroe said he wanted to eat your cooking," Evan Fairchild said before walking into the living room.
"Mama, will you make something yummy for Ian?" Ian Monroe pleaded, tugging on his mother’s hand.
"Of course. Mama will make you something delicious," Melody Monroe nodded.
"Yay! Mama, have you eaten breakfast? We brought some for you."
"I... I haven’t. I just woke up."
"Then you should eat breakfast right away, Mama."
Melody Monroe nodded and looked at the takeout containers on the dining table. Ian Monroe deftly went to the kitchen to get a bowl and chopsticks for his mother.
"Here, Mama."
Melody Monroe took the bowl and chopsticks, sat down, and ate her breakfast in silence.
"Mama, we bought lots and lots of groceries. Do you know how to cook all of them?"
"Let me see what you bought. It shouldn’t be a problem."
After finishing breakfast, Melody Monroe hurried to the kitchen to see what groceries Evan Fairchild had bought.
There was fish, meat, ribs, and a whole chicken. He had also bought some green vegetables and other ingredients. It was quite a complete spread.
"Ian, did you and Mr. Fairchild buy all these groceries?"
"Mhm," Ian Monroe nodded.
Melody Monroe glanced toward the living room. Evan Fairchild was on his phone, likely handling work matters with a serious expression.
Evan Fairchild suddenly looked up, and their eyes met unexpectedly.
She immediately averted her gaze, not daring to look at him again.
"Go play for a bit, Ian. Mama is going to sort these out first."
Ian Monroe obediently ran out.
Melody Monroe began sorting and organizing the groceries.
Barely a minute later, she heard footsteps behind her again.
"Go on out for now, Ian. I don’t need any help at the moment," Melody Monroe said without turning around.
Evan Fairchild stepped forward, unbuttoned his cuffs, rolled up his sleeves, and stood before the sink.
