Chapter 267: They Formed a Team?
It was Melody Monroe’s voice.
Evan Fairchild immediately capped his pen, his gaze dark as he stared at Jasper Rockwell.
Jasper’s skin crawled under his stare.
He got up, took a few steps back, picked up his phone, and sent a message back to Melody Monroe.
"I’m coming right now."
Jasper immediately logged into the game. There was already a friend request waiting for him, which he accepted at once. When he saw the character’s skin, it looked just like a flashy peacock.
’Who is this person?’
"Three minutes until the tower assault begins," Zane Langdon’s voice rang out.
"Jasper, are you sure you don’t want to change your gear?" Melody Monroe looked over at him, trying her best not to comment.
With Keith Coleman standing next to him, it was an incredibly flamboyant sight!
"You three pros will have to carry me!"
Evan Fairchild heard that flamboyant voice. ’Who else could it be but Keith Coleman?!’
Jasper Rockwell, Keith Coleman, Zane Langdon...
They’ve formed a party!
Evan Fairchild unconsciously tightened his grip on the pen.
"Keith, you’d better stay a little farther away from Jasper," Melody Monroe warned.
"Why?" Keith Coleman looked at the title above Jasper Rockwell’s head, getting the distinct impression that Jasper was a total badass.
"You’ll find out soon enough."
"Time’s up," Zane Langdon announced.
The screen changed, and the group was transported into the dungeon.
This was the newest dungeon, just released by the developers, and they were the first team attempting to clear it.
Although Zane Langdon and Jasper Rockwell were currently ranked second and third respectively, their team’s strength was definitely number one.
Melody Monroe was currently ranked fifth. If they achieved the first clear, she would crush the player in fourth place.
Keith Coleman was currently somewhere in the teens.
He had never played this game before. He’d gotten the itch to play after watching Melody and had specifically gone and bought an account.
Thus, he was a trembling little newbie, instinctively looking for a strong player to depend on.
The tower had nine floors, and they were currently on the first.
"Jasper, shield," Zane Langdon’s voice rang out.
"It’s only the first floor. We don’t need it, do we?"
Suddenly, several black shadows burst onto the screen and immediately unleashed a powerful ultimate move.
Melody Monroe and the others found themselves unable to use their skills. A five-second countdown appeared on the screen.
After five seconds, a small sliver of all three of their health bars had been wiped out.
Keith Coleman had it the worst; he lost half his health directly.
"Ah, I was careless!" Jasper said, a bit embarrassed, and quickly activated a skill.
A transparent shield enveloped the group. Keith Coleman noticed a series of numbers constantly appearing over his character: +19, +20, +45, +3...
’This skill can automatically heal, too!’ Keith finally understood Jasper’s role on the team.
’Is it too late to change who I’m standing next to?!’
"Mr. Langdon, leave these mobs to me. Keith, you’re on support. Focus fire on the mob on the far right. Jasper, you just focus on healing."
As soon as the battle ended, Jasper’s skill could no longer be used.
The health they had just lost had to be recovered during this round of combat.
Evan Fairchild watched Jasper, who was so engrossed in his phone that he didn’t even look up. He took out his own phone, searched for the game, and tapped "download."
"Melody, the one in the middle was supposed to use its ultimate last round but didn’t," Zane Langdon reminded her.
"I noticed. Let’s bet on the crit damage rate for this round."
"You two are monsters! Do you have to be so professional even when you’re just playing a game? How do you remember which mob uses what skill so clearly?"
Jasper Rockwell glanced up at Evan Fairchild.
He saw Evan staring at his computer again, showing no reaction whatsoever.
He deliberately raised his voice, "You just joined the team today. It’s not just that they remember this stuff—you have no idea how in sync they are. It’s like they’re telepathic!"
