Chapter 184: Large-Scale Face-Slapping Scene 2
Julian Hale looked at Willow Lynch.
He knew Willow Lynch hadn’t done anything wrong.
"You should be thanking me for holding back and only using aboveboard methods! Everything your dad is going through right now, he brought on himself!"
Zane Langdon grabbed Raymond Ford’s hand and strode away. Their hurried pace looked as if they were fleeing in disarray.
Melody Monroe watched their retreating figures, her smile slowly turning bitter.
"CUT!"
The moment Director Wallace yelled, Raymond Ford charged at Melody Monroe, raising her hand to slap her!
’Melody knew Raymond wouldn’t let it rest.’ She raised her own hand and caught Raymond’s wrist, stopping the slap and secretly squeezing hard!
Raymond’s brow furrowed in pain. "Melody Monroe, why did you just hit me?"
"Aren’t we just acting?" Melody Monroe asked with a look of pure innocence.
Seeing her expression, Raymond was about to explode with rage!
’Isn’t this Raymond’s usual trick? Committing the foulest acts while putting on the most innocent face!’
’She was just giving Raymond, the master of feigned innocence, a taste of her own medicine.’
"What script are you reading? There’s no scene where you slap me! You did that on purpose!"
"Oh, there isn’t? Raymond, I’m terribly sorry. I just got too caught up in the scene! Here, you can hit me back." Melody Monroe let go of Raymond’s hand and offered up her own cheek.
Raymond’s chest heaved with fury.
She raised her hand a few times, her fingers clenching into a fist.
"That last take was excellent. Melody has never messed up a scene before, so she was probably just really in character. Raymond, don’t you think that slap gave your performance more tension?" Director Wallace’s voice suddenly cut in.
The crew members immediately nodded in agreement.
Raymond was left speechless.
"If it weren’t for that slap, I bet Raymond would’ve had another NG," another voice piped up.
"Honestly, I think adding a slap right there actually makes the scene better!"
"That’s the best on-the-spot improv I’ve ever seen."
Raymond looked from the director to the crew members around her, tears of frustration welling up in her eyes.
’Melody just humiliated me in front of everyone, so why is no one on my side? Why do they think she was right to slap me?!’
"Raymond, I really am sorry. If I’d known one slap would have such a great effect, I would’ve done it sooner! Your performance has been a bit off lately, but now you’ve finally found your rhythm again," Melody added.
Raymond gave a cold smile. "No matter how many NGs I have, at least I don’t get the script wrong!"
"You’re the senior here. I still have much to learn from you," Melody said before rolling up her sleeve. "Ouch, that hurts."
Raymond’s expression turned cold.
Melody was renowned for her flawless skin; describing it as creamy and smooth wasn’t an exaggeration.
Now, two angry red marks, laced with blood, were visible on her arm, a shocking sight.
"Raymond, you really grabbed me hard. It seems we’re both just a little too dedicated to our roles!" Melody was still smiling, looking as though she didn’t blame Raymond in the slightest.
As the crew’s eyes went from Melody’s arm to Raymond, their expressions changed.
"My god, to be grabbed that hard and still finish the scene!"
"Raymond must have done that on purpose. No matter how hard you grab, it shouldn’t look like that!"
Raymond looked at the surrounding faces, feeling completely unable to defend herself!
’Me, on purpose?’
’Then what about Melody slapping me?’
’Why was no one blaming Melody? Now they were all looking at *her* like that.’
"Getting deep into character is a good thing. Raymond, keep that energy for the next take," Director Wallace said, stepping up to the two actresses.
His words gave both of them a way to save face.
