The window was high off the ground. Lost in her joy, Amanda Chapman didn’t see Storm Xavier. Tang Xiao’nan didn’t point him out to her, either, and just pulled her away. Despair filled Storm Xavier’s eyes, but just a moment later, he grew even more desperate.

The old lady had come in carrying a bowl of medicine. When she saw he had actually managed to crawl to the window, her eyes turned cold. She yanked him back and forced the concoction down his throat.

Storm Xavier slipped back into a groggy sleep. The old lady, however, decided to increase the dosage. If she weren’t afraid of arousing Clayton Xavier’s suspicion, she would have sent this good-for-nothing to his grave with a bowl of poison long ago.

’But now, the old lady had changed her mind. She would let Storm Xavier properly cling to his miserable existence. Her health still felt decent, so perhaps she’d have the chance to wait for the day that little bitch returned. She had to make that little bitch and Anton Xavier see what Storm Xavier had become with their own eyes. This was the price they would pay for betraying her.’

’If her body couldn’t hold out that long, she would take care of Storm Xavier before she breathed her last. She would never let this good-for-nothing be a burden to her grandson.’

’If the heavens were merciful, they would let her live a few more years. She had to outlive that little bitch. Even if just by a single breath, it would be enough.’

The old lady shot a cold glance at Storm Xavier on the bed, let out a sneer, and left the room. ’Tonight, I’ll add another dose. Make this waste of space sleep a few more hours.’

Time flew by. After three or four more days, the cicadas were chirping more merrily than ever. The July days on Millstone Peak were so hot you couldn’t even step outside. Dollar was too hot to pick a fight with the big goose, simply lying inside the house to stay cool.

Adrian Hawthorne hadn’t returned yet. The order this time was too large, and Feng Ye didn’t have enough stock on hand, so he had to contact his manufacturers. Unable to sit still, Adrian Hawthorne took a trip to Aethelburg, a city not far from Capria. It was said to be the closest city to Port Krol, which lay just across the sea. Many people secretly tried to cross the water to get there. If they were lucky, they made it. If not, they were caught and sent back.

He wanted to see Aethelburg for himself because Grandpa Tate had said that this small city would one day prosper immensely and become a dazzling pearl. Aethelburg was the most important port on the South Sea, which meant it possessed a naturally superior geographical location.

For now, however, Aethelburg was just a dilapidated little city. The locals made a living by fishing, there was little farmland, and its residents were not even as prosperous as the people of Millstone Peak. Across the sea, Port Krol was a world of glittering lights, fine wine, and skyscrapers, forming a stark contrast.

Both Adrian Hawthorne and Old Master Tate believed that in a few decades, Aethelburg would be every bit the equal of Port Krol, and the same went for Tristone. By then, perhaps people from Port Krol would even want to move back.

After looking around Aethelburg, Adrian Hawthorne returned to Capria. Feng Ye had already prepared the bolts of cloth and arranged for a freight car for him. He had also shipped out the televisions and radios, sending everything off together.

"Here’s the invoice. Take it."

Feng Ye handed him a blank invoice stamped with an official seal. Adrian Hawthorne smiled. "Thanks, Feng Ye."

"That plump little girl is on break now, right?" Feng Ye asked, feigning nonchalance.

Adrian Hawthorne chuckled to himself. "She is."

Feng Ye hesitated for a moment, then said in an even more casual tone, "Next time you come, bring that plump girl out for a bit. A little girl needs to see the world. Don’t keep her cooped up at home all day, or she’ll become narrow-minded."

After all that talking, he still wouldn’t admit he missed the plump girl himself. Will, standing to the side, rolled his eyes hard. Unable to hold back any longer, he cut in, "Just bring the plump girl over to visit next time. The boss really misses her."
