"Are you guys from the textile mill?" Director Wood asked curiously. ’Who else could get their hands on so much good fabric at once, complete with an official invoice, if not the mill itself?’

"Don’t you worry, sir. This is top-quality fabric from a major mill. The quality is guaranteed."

Goldie Thorne chuckled evasively. He gave a vague, noncommittal answer—neither confirming nor denying it. This only made Director Wood more certain that they were indeed from the textile mill.

"I’ll be in touch next time something comes up," Director Wood said, subtly hinting at the possibility of future business.

Clayton Xavier and Adrian Hawthorne exchanged a joyful look. The Mid-Autumn Festival was just around the corner. ’If all goes well, this will be for the festival gifts,’ they thought. ’And if we can build a good relationship with Director Wood, we can probably land the contract for the Spring Festival gifts too.’

Goldie Thorne exchanged a few more pleasantries with Director Wood before heading to the finance department to get paid. Large factories were certainly efficient. They paid the full amount, not a penny short, and settled up without any fuss. It was all cash, enough to fill a large bag.

The group hauled the large bag out of the machinery factory and went to the warehouse Adrian Hawthorne had rented. Goldie Thorne collapsed onto the floor. "Oh my god... Jim, quick! Check if the money’s still there!"

He’d been a nervous wreck the entire way, terrified the money would get lost or stolen. He wasn’t even worth this much if you sold him.

Jim Thorne, on the other hand, was bold and reckless, so he wasn’t fazed at all. He opened the bag and took a look. The sight made his head spin. It was all brand-new, crisp ten-yuan "Great Unity" bills. They were gorgeous.

"How much money is this? We’ll never be able to spend it all..."

Jim Thorne marveled in a low voice, but a glint appeared in Patrick Thorne’s eyes as he became lost in thought. ’I’m not interested in retail,’ he mused. ’It’s a waste of time and energy, and you don’t earn nearly as much as you do from one big deal. If I’m going to do this, I’m going big.’

"How much will you make from this deal?"

Patrick Thorne turned his head and asked Clayton Xavier. Adrian Hawthorne would certainly make the most, but Patrick didn’t have Adrian’s connections. That money was out of his reach. But Clayton must have made a decent amount as well.

Clayton Xavier paused for a moment, then answered truthfully, "Kenneth gave me a commission of five fen per chi. The machinery factory has 1,500 employees, and each person is getting ten chi."

Jim Thorne started counting on his fingers, but Patrick Thorne was the one who quickly did the math in his head. His expression grew more and more excited. He turned to Adrian Hawthorne and asked, "If I can find a factory myself, would I also get a five-fen commission?"

"Of course."

Adrian Hawthorne nodded. He had made more than he’d expected on this deal. Because the order was so large, Madman had lowered his wholesale price, which naturally meant a larger profit margin.

Patrick Thorne’s spirits instantly soared. He already had a solid plan in mind, but he wasn’t going to say anything until he’d pulled it off. He’d wait until he had everything lined up.

"Second Brother, where are you going to find a factory?" Jim Thorne asked curiously.

"I’ll tell you after I’ve sorted it out."

Patrick Thorne was being mysterious, and Jim Thorne was getting antsy. Tang Xiaonan gestured for him to lean down and whispered in his ear, "It has to be Second Uncle’s distillery."

There was only one distillery in town. Who else would Patrick Thorne go to besides their Second Uncle? It was so obvious you could figure it out with your toes. Jim Thorne’s eyes lit up instantly. He threw an arm around Patrick Thorne’s neck and pulled him aside to whisper.

Goldie Thorne was no longer content with just doing retail either. ’These kids are so capable,’ he thought. ’I’m a grown man; I can’t let them show me up.’ Once the "double rush" harvest was over, he decided he would go to the city and look for some opportunities.

Adrian Hawthorne went to the post office to wire the money he owed Madman. Afterward, he gave him a call.

"I’ve wired you the payment for the goods."

"Mm-hmm..."

Madman sounded languid, completely unconcerned about the money. However...

"So, what about that chubby little girl? What’s she up to at home?"

Adrian Hawthorne glanced at Tang Xiaonan, who was right beside him, and chuckled. "She’s right here with me. I’ll put her on to talk to you."
