All four women moved at the same time, whispering like advocates of conspiracy theories.

"What do we do?" Lina asked.

Sienna shrugged. "I don’t know. Let’s just continue with our breakfast."

"Do you think she is here to start trouble?" The queen asked.

"Not if Sienna’s pan has anything to say about it." Mija snorted.

One of the queen’s guards cleared her throat. Loudly, the lion beast woman shouted, "Lady Cadelaria, please wait for me to inform the queen that you would like to approach her table."

The four women leaned away from each other, while Lady Cadelaria huffed. For one, there was no need to shout this out loud. Secondly, she was a noble woman, not some commoner that had never been in close quarters with the queen! Thirdly, this was an exclusive but private restaurant, if the queen didn’t want anyone approaching her table, she should have shut down the establishment while she and her friends dined.

Lastly, it wasn’t the queen she was approaching, it was her daughter-in-law that she needed a word with. Not everyone was as desperate to kiss royal ass like Sienna.

Nonetheless, she was forced to wait until the queen gestured for her to be allowed through.

Stiffly, she walked to the table and curtsied to the queen. "Your Royal Highness, my greetings."

The queen replied with a nod. "Lady Cadelaria, it is a fine morning. Let’s keep it that way."

Lady Cadelaria bit her bottom lip. She wanted to throw a tantrum. To scream. But she did nothing, just curtsied again and turned to Sienna. "I would like to have a word with my daughter-in-law. It’s about the party we are throwing for Elias’s birthday."

Before Sienna could reply, Mija jumped in. "We!" As far as she knew, it was them, the Rocland’s and the good Veythar’s who were pitching in. Cadelaria had not been invited to the party planning table.

Lady Cadelaria flashed a look at Mija that could have melted the snake beast woman on this cold winter day. "This is a family affair, Lady Mija. Sienna and I are family so yes...we."

Lina nearly choked on her coffee.

Sienna rose, eyes glued to her watch. "Oh, look at the time. I am so sorry Lady Cadelaria but we are running late for work. If you have any ideas about the party, share them with grandma Jess. She is handling the guest list and seating arrangements. Grandma Byra and her team are on food. Cyra and Miro are on decorations. Grandpas Corven and Jesse are taking care of security."

Lina raised her hand. "I am on wardrobe, with Ali."

Mija raised her hand. "I am on general duty."

For some reason, Cadelaria looked at the queen. She clearly expected the queen to also be in charge of something or have an opinion.

Serenya replied simply, "I am a guest."

In the old days, Cadelaria would have bragged about this to every ear. But now, bragging about the queen being a friend of the family was useless. Everyone knew she was a friend to Sienna. They had been pictured dining and shopping together so often that people were accustomed to it.

"Mother-in-law, I am not deliberately being difficult, but you once held the office I hold now. So you know how busy it is. If you want to see me during working hours, make an appointment with Mija or come to my house early in the morning or late in the evening."

Cadelaria clenched her fists. They both knew that if she showed up without Marius or before Elias and Sienna allowed the guards to give her access, she would be left at the gate. Sienna was saying this for the servers to hear. To maintain her reputation.

This left Cadelaria with no choice but to go along. "Of course, I understand. You should hurry to your office, I am sure you have to deal with, like changing the carpet after Lord Fenton died on it. I would move offices completely if I were in your shoes." She smiled like a plastic doll. "But what do I know? Nobody ever died in my office when I was in charge."

"Thank you for the advice." Sienna replied with a fake smile. "I will be sure to let the Fenton’s know that you think the death of their patriarch in my office is such an inconvenience."

Cadelaria’s smile faded, replaced with anger.

Sienna and her friends rose, they were all done with breakfast anyway. One by one, they left the table, nodded at Cadelaria and walked away. After waving goodbye to her friends, Sienna and Mija drove off to her office.

As soon as her car parked, her aunt Linera showed up, eyes flicking around as if something could jump out of the shadows at any time.

"Don’t tell me Nya is here," Sienna groaned.

Her aunt shook her head. "No. This is probably worse than Nya."

Sienna sighed, adjusting her cloak. "Let’s get this over with. We always begin or end the day with the dramatic issues. As long as nobody else drops dead in my office."

But before she could step inside the building, her aunt stopped her. Her eyes were still roaming around, wide with alarm. "Sienna, brace yourself. What you are about to see will shock you and maybe, offend your eyes."

Sienna raised a brow and marched on like a veteran soldier on the battlefield. "Offend my eyes? Aunt, I saw a man die in my office yesterday. What could possibly--"

She stopped. Her guards stood rigid in the corridor, flanking a panda beast man who was...very naked. If not for his ears, she would not have known what he was. His manhood was barely covered by a scrap of cloth, but his backside was gloriously, shamelessly exposed."

Sienna’s jaw dropped. "By the beast gods! Why is his butt in my hallway? And please tell me that my children have not come across him."

Linera sighed. "I told you to brace yourself."
