Chapter 344: Always messy.
Nya slammed her fist on the desk. "Yes! He may not be a prince in the literal way, but he is a prince to me. He is my only child. Do you have any idea how many years it took me to get him? He is my prince. A prince in spirit. He should be treated as such. His wife demeans him."
Sienna’s lips curled into a sharp smile. "Your son is not a prince. He is a grown man. And men who cannot lift a broom are hardly fit to lift stronger responsibilities, especially not crowns."
Nya sputtered, face reddening. "You insult him!"
Sienna’s voice hardened. "No, I speak the truth. You have been to my office what...fifteen times now! You always come with reasons more ridiculous than the last. You always waste my time. If your son wishes to divorce, let him stand before me himself. Until then, your petition is nothing but noise."
Nya’s eyes blazed, her mouth opening for another protest.
But Sienna raised her hand, silencing her. "Enough. Leave. I will not entertain your requests to see me anymore unless a clear detailed explanation is submitted in writing. Also, I will start fining you if I find the reason for your visit a waste of my time. Like today. You are going to pay a fee of one thousand beast coins. Next time, it will be double."
Nya rose, trembling with fury. "If Lady Cadelaria was here, she would understand."
Sienna raised her brows. "Too bad for you. But she is sweeping at the temple, feel free to drop by and share your problems with her."
Nya clenched her fists. "You will regret dismissing me. My son is a noble in spirit, and you will see. I will take this to court if I have to."
Sienna’s gaze was cold, unyielding. "Yeah, we shall see. But not through your voice. Even if you go to court, your son will have to face the judge and explain himself. You can’t be his rude mouthpiece forever."
Nya turned and left, seething like a nest of vipers disturbed at dusk.
"We have noted down her threat." Aunt Linera announced, communicating with Captain George through her phone.
Mija shook her head. "That bitch is crazy, I feel so bad for her daughter-in-law. If anyone should be here asking for a divorce, it should be her." She turned to the court clerk and hissed. "If you keep typing, I am going to bite you."
Sienna pulled her back before she could make good on her threat. Mija had something against Lucy, the new court clerk--or her job, at least.
"Leave Lucy alone." Sienna told her friend. "Also, the next time Nya’s name comes up, meet with her first before bringing her to me. My office is not a garbage dump where all sorts of trash come to be sorted through." She stretched her arms, ready to call it a day.
"Don’t be too quick to rise, you have one more case to handle." Mija placed her hand on Sienna’s shoulder, pushing her back down.
Sienna looked at her schedule, and it was empty. "No I don’t."
Mija smiled stiffly. "Oh yes you do. It’s a last minute request from Judge Boniface."
Sienna frowned. "The one with the big eyes like an owl. He doesn’t like me much, if he has sent a case to me, it’s to make me suffer."
Mija shot a sharp glare at Lucy. "Move one finger or repeat this in your legal circle and I will bite you."
Lucy rolled her eyes, while the rest of the people chuckled.
Mika jumped in, sliding a file sent by the judge on Sienna’s desk. Not to waste time, Mija started going through the details verbally.
"I hope you are ready for scandal Sienna because this is a divorce petition involving Lord Buck Fenton and Lady Lamby Fenton, his celebrity wife."
Linera groaned. "It’s always messy when celebrities are involved."
Sienna looked at the highlighted named in the file. Lord Buck Fenton was 82, the patriarch of the noble Fenton family. He was a silver fox beast man. His wife Lamby was 28, young and famous. She was an actress and white fox beast woman.
"82 and 28!" She exclaimed.
Mija laughed. "Like I said, you should be ready for this one. The man practically married a baby. His wife, is old enough to be his grand daughter. Lord Fenton has three children: Darius, age 45, the eldest son who is stern, and very protective over their family fortune."
"As it should be." Mika muttered.
Mija continued, "Cassian, age 42, the second son who is sly and a gambler. He is also an opportunist who always knows the location of a secret treasure."
"He is a con man." Mika summarized.
Mija smiled. "Last is Marcellus, age 39. Very bitter and very overlooked. He hates his oldest brother, father, uncles and the whole world."
"Rumored supporter of the rebel movement." Mika concluded.
Sienna was grateful for their little inputs which were not included in the official court records.
"Grandchildren, he has three." Mija raised her voice. "Two from Darius. They are Elana, 19, outspoken and very loyal to her grandmother’s memory if her BeastNet posts are anything to go by. Lael, sharp tongued and distrustful of her celebrity grandmother to the point of starting and anti-fan page and trashing her. The third grandchild is Lyra, 15, emotional, and her grandfather’s favorite person in the world. So, she is torn between sides."
Sienna took a deep breath. "Well, now everyone knows everyone. I am assuming they are all in the waiting room."
A guard opened the door and an aide let the group inside, directing them as they settled down around the long table. Sienna also moved to that table, sitting at the head position, with Mija and the Lucy to her left and right side.
"So, Lady Lamby, you seek divorce." Sienna’s voice cut through the tense room.
Lamby, white tail flicked. "Yes, Matriarch. You see, I married Bucky for love, but he treats me as a trophy. His sons despise me, his grandchildren mock me. I want freedom--and what is rightfully mine."
Sienna and a few others raised their brows at ’Bucky,’ but not one person laughed. It was ridiculous!
Darius was quick to respond, slamming his fist on the table that it startled his half-asleep father. "She has been married for only one year and she wants half of the estate! This whore seduced my father when was grieving the death of my mother. She is nothing but a gold-tail!"
Mija whispered, "Gold-tail is noble speak for gold digger."
Sienna whispered back, "I am aware."
