Chapter 79: Stockpiling (Part 2)
They wouldn’t stop there.
There were still a lot of pharmacies around, and Ye Lingrui unexpectedly dragged her to the other pharmacy.
"I need medicine for my foot..."
"Give me medicine to stop bleeding!"
People crowded around the pharmacy. Even some people screaming that the pharmacy had given them the wrong medicine didn’t diminish the crowd at all.
"I saw the book he was holding," Ye Lingrui smiled.
Ye Lingyue thought that his smile resembled that of a villain. "What book is that?"
"He had embezzled several herbs and also sold most of the medicine at a higher price, pocketing the money he got from the mark up," he explained.
When she heard that, she was surprised, because she didn’t expect that Ye Lingrui would possess such a vision. Upon entering the place, she hadn’t paid attention to the shopkeeper at all.
"Did we buy these herbs at the original price?" she asked.
He shook his head. "The price is only a little higher. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gotten any customers if he raised the price too high."
She nodded in understanding and gave him a thumbs up. Even with the price mark up, the shopkeeper would definitely still make a lot if he sells a lot of herbs.
"Then, what are we going to do next?" She was a little excited. "Going to that pharmacy over there?"
Ye Lingrui nodded.
However, Ye Lingyue grabbed his hand to stop him. "Let’s find a secluded spot to put the herbs into my space first, Third Brother. Look at these people, already eyeing us..."
The moment the siblings moved away, some people followed them.
They found a secluded spot not far away. Ye Lingyue already put their bundle inside her storage space and waited.
These people appeared not too long after. Her first question was: "are you going to rob us?"
The six men were taken aback by her words. Since she already knew that they were targeting them, shouldn’t they run away? Although the twins looked healthy, they didn’t look powerful at all.
"Yes, now hand over the things you just purchased at the other pharmacy!" They immediately threatened, not wanting to lose their momentum.
She blinked. "Why?"
They hardened their fists. "Do you want us to take them by force?"
"Do you see any herbs on us at all?" Ye Lingrui smiled.
The six men already noticed that the siblings currently didn’t have the bundle they previously carried with them, but they thought that the twins must have hidden them somewhere.
"You already knew we were following you." One man snorted. "You must have hidden the herbs."
They seemed to be impatient and immediately ordered an attack. The twins glanced at each other, raising their eyebrows.
A moment later, six men fell to the ground, their faces twitching as the twins rummaged through their things.
Before the twins left, Ye Lingyue didn’t forget to thank them politely. "Uncles, thank you for your donation."
With that, they disappeared from the scene, leaving a few men sprawling on the ground.
"Third Brother, that was the last batch of paralyzing poison." She muttered. "Let’s make more tonight. We haven’t found the time to buy food supplies either."
Ye Lingrui nodded. "Let’s hope Second Brother isn’t swindled and brings a decent amount of money from selling the jewellry."
His fingers traced something hidden in his sleeve, his face thoughtful.
The siblings didn’t buy many herbs in the other pharmacy. Instead...
"You really have a good eye for things, Third Brother," Ye Lingyue praised. The other pharmacy had a lot of poisonous herbs suitable to make poisons.
Sometimes, these herbs were similar to normal ones, so some people wouldn’t be able to differentiate them. In a way, they were also doing these poor people a favor by taking away all the poisonous herbs for them.
The twins visited a few more pharmacies, almost using all of the money they currently had.
By the time they realized it, they were almost penniless.
"Let’s go find Second Brother now. Lest he get swindled by some unscrupulous people," Ye Lingyue muttered awkwardly.
It was clear both of them were so enthusiastic about herbs that they couldn’t help but buy a lot every time they saw any rare herbs.
When they found Ye Lanxi, he was in the middle of an argument with a fierce-looking man.
"You stole the ring, it’s obviously mine!" Ye Lanxi scolded. He turned to the shopkeeper. "Give the money to me, not to him."
The man in front of him sneered. "I found it on the ground, so it has become mine now."
Ye Lanxi frowned. "Why are you such a robber? The ring just fell to the ground and rolled into your feet and you admit it is yours based on that?!"
At this moment, the twins came over to him.
"Second Brother," they called out.
He turned to his younger siblings, pursing his lips. Unfortunately, they found him first before he could solve this problem.
"Shopkeeper, hurry up," he told the shopkeeper who was already on the brink of tears.
"M-maybe you two can solve it between yourself first..." he told them carefully, afraid they would get angry and start making trouble directed at him.
He secretly already sent a signal to another employee to report the incident here to the guards just in case. Based on how these two were behaving, he believed that they were bandits!
"That’s also a good idea." Ye Lanxi shoved his things to his younger sister, cracking his knuckles. "How about we solve it outside at once?"
It was three men against one.
As the four went outside, the twins waited with the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper obviously didn’t expect that Ye Lanxi’s siblings would look that; young and spirited, unlike his fierce and thug-like aura.
His aura overshadowed his appearance that he subconsciously ignored his lean figure. The other three looked more burly and stronger in the comparison.
"Is it fine to let your brother fight them like this?" The shopkeeper suddenly felt guilty. It was because of his suggestion that they solved it by using their fists.
"Shopkeeper, if you feel bad, how about raising the ring’s price a little?" Ye Lingyue suggested shamelessly. "Our second brother fought for it, after all."
