Chapter 86: Bandits’ Territory (Part 2)
A laughter echoed in Ye Lingyue’s ears, and...
The sight that the young girl wanted to see didn’t happen.
She was expecting Ye Lingyue to fall flat on the ground, and maybe there would be one or two bandits who would find and attack her.
However, Ye Lingyue was actually fine. She landed on her two feet gracefully.
The young girl was taken aback, but soon she recovered and continued to gloat over her. She still hoped that there would be some bandits to teach Ye Lingyue a lesson.
Upon seeing Ye Lingyue being pushed out of the carriage, Ye Lanxi frowned. The one pushing her wasn’t actually the young girl; she didn’t have such strength.
It was the father.
The one who had told his wife and daughter to behave when they laid down their wicked idea to get rid of the three.
Ye Lanxi got up, planning to open the door, but the father stopped him. "Young man, it’s not safe–"
He easily opened the door to the carriage, revealing the fighting outside. The guards were dealing with the bandits who had been pouring in to surround them.
"Let’s work together to make it safe then," Ye Lanxi grabbed the man and dragged him outside amidst the furious words of the pair of mother and daughter.
"Let go of my husband, you dirty beggar!"
"Release my father this instant!" The young girl got up and tried to stop Ye Lanxi to no avail.
He was like an immovable tank, clutching onto the father’s collar tightly that the man started to kick and thrashed around. Ye Lanxi had lifted him up to the air.
"Let’s go and fight them," Ye Lanxi muttered as he stepped out.
Once he was outside, some bandits swarmed on them. He tossed the man to one of the incoming bandits, causing them to crash against each other on the ground.
Inside the carriage, the young girl immediately slammed the door shut, trembling slightly with Ye Lingrui’s presence inside.
She felt that the young man’s smile was incredibly terrifying at this moment.
"Husband, husband!"
The young girl’s attention was soon attracted by her mother who was shouting on top of her lungs. She hissed and immediately covered her mouth.
Her voice sounded full of pain, but it was rather firm. "Mother, do you want to attract these bandits toward us?"
"Father... he isn’t weak."
It was unknown whether she was convincing herself or her mother.
Ye Lingrui raised his eyebrows and waited for his siblings. Fortunately, Ye Lanxi and Ye Lingyue had the poisonous powder with them. Still, in case something happened, he was also prepared.
He slowly listened to the fighting outside, his face full of concentration, fully ignoring the pair of mother and daughter.
Anyway, a ruthless and wicked man indeed had given birth to a daughter who possessed similar traits like him.
Outside, Ye Lingyue’s eyes lit up when she saw that Ye Lanxi had come out with the culprit who had pushed her out of the carriage.
She slowly headed there, trying to deal with some bandits on the way.
"Hello, Uncle." She greeted the man politely when she finally arrived there. However, her next action was far from polite.
She kicked the man into the middle of the fights, sending him sprawling into the ground. Some people accidentally stepped on him, earning a painful hiss.
"Oops, sorry, Uncle." She tilted her head,
Her hand made some kind of gesture to Ye Lanxi, and they immediately withdrew back to the carriage.
"They are just a scout team. The guards will soon be able to defeat them," Ye Lingyue told him her analysis.
Ye Lanxi nodded. "I guessed as much."
They opened the door to the carriage and slipped inside. Ye Lingyue couldn’t help but glanced at the stunned young girl and smiled at her meaningfully.
The pair of mother and daughter froze, subconsciously snuggling closer to each other.
It really didn’t take long for the guards to solve the bandits. They continued the journey not long after.
The man who had plotted against Ye Lingyue had been retrieved by his family, and now he was sitting inside the carriage, shivering slightly with bruises and wounds all over.
The one whom he thought to be the easiest individual among them was also not someone he could trifle with. He belatedly realized that these siblings weren’t simple people.
"Why are you looking at me?" Ye Lingyue glanced at the man. "Want to get rid of me again?"
The man jolted; his pupils constricted and he weakly explained, "It’s a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding..."
Ye Lingyue just snorted and the atmosphere became tense in an instant. The family of three felt like they were sitting on pins and needles.
They were feeling like that even after some days passed, unable to relax and afraid the Ye siblings might take revenge on them again.
The bandits kept on appearing; it was obvious they were really coveting their supplies. The teams that they sent... some were weak and some were strong.
It seemed that they hadn’t stopped using the same method.
"The guards are too skilled," Ye Lingyue commented.
The next day was the last day they would stay with the merchant caravan.
Ye Lingrui also warned them. "Something might happen today, so be careful."
During the night time, indeed, they chanced upon a group of bandits again. However, this time the number of bandits were more numerous.
They seemed to be holding a huge cage.
The family in the carriage didn’t dare to bother her again after that day, and this time they didn’t pull any dirty moves.
Ye Lingyue and Ye Lanxi got out of the carriage and helped the guards to fight off the bandits.
Unknowingly, they had reached the place where the bandits had kept the cage. They easily solved the bandits who were guarding it.
They were curious, so they slowly opened the cloth covering the cage and was instantly stunned to see a familiar face there.
