Chapter 83: Insidious Host!
Ye Lanxi hissed, jumping away from the scene in a flash. Ye Lingrui didn’t have a good feeling about it, so he had started retreating, in a contrast to Ye Lanxi’s nonchalant posture.
"Lingyue!" Ye Lanxi’s angry roar echoed in the silent night, the voice mixed with something else.
"What?" Ye Lingyue tried to keep a straight expression, but she ultimately burst out laughing, almost falling off the tree if she hadn’t hugged onto it tightly.
Ye Lingrui already sat beside her, looking like he was questioning life itself.
[Hiss, Host, you are so insidious...] The System couldn’t help but chime in with a comment after it saw what its host had done. [Too insidious... humans are too scary wuwuwu...]
Ye Lanxi also arrived by his younger siblings’ side, his expressions complicated when he looked at Ye Lingyue, who was already wiping the psychological tears from laughing so much.
She was laughing at him.
"Where did you learn such a thing?" He shook his head and clicked his tongue.
Even before she recovered her intelligence, she was already quite mischievous, sometimes throwing things at him, but... to be this ruthless and scheming...
His eyes settled on Ye Lingrui, who immediately stared back with a question mark on his head.
"Did you lead her..." he paused, then repeated his question. "Did you lead her astray?"
It wasn’t so bad if she could protect herself, but he thought that the speed at which Ye Lingrui was corrupting her was incredible.
Ye Lingrui’s mouth twitched, and he was utterly speechless. He had unknowingly taken this black pot on himself...
At this moment, Ye Lingyue gave him a nudge, staring at him innocently.
He took a deep breath and faced his second brother’s questioning with a smile. "Yes, I taught Yue’er to protect herself and not to be lenient to her enemies."
Ye Lanxi clicked his tongue. "I can teach her the same thing, better than you."
The twins snorted inwardly.
"But these people..." he gestured to the paralyzed bandits who had a look of shame all over their faces. Ye Lanxi coughed. "How long will the effect last?"
Dozens of bandits were paralyzed in the ground, and the smell coming from them was quite indescribable.
Ye Lingyue had to admit that her laxatives worked better than she thought. She considered it poison because, well... if they didn’t take the antidote, they might suffer from diarrhea once every few days.
The effect was also so sudden that they might suddenly have the urge to defecate anytime; the days were also sporadic; it can be every two days, three, or even four.
Even though the effect would gradually fade with time, it would torture them enough.
"Two to three months perhaps?" Ye Lingyue counted her fingers and shrugged. "Although they will only suffer the effect once in a few days. They should be experiencing it in the first few months."
"At least they will be busy until tomorrow so that they won’t have time to find trouble with us." Smugness was written all over her face. Isn’t she very smart? Hmph!
She suddenly blinked. Why did she feel that her second brother’s sitting position suddenly shifted a little farther away from her?
Subconsciously, she glanced at Ye Lingrui too. Oh, it wasn’t just her imagination, her third brother did the same; he was practically just beside her, but now he was in another branch...
She raised her eyebrows. "Let’s go. We still need to stockpile some more supplies!"
Her hand grabbed Ye Lanxi and dragged him down. Then, she also jumped toward Ye Lingrui’s branch and pulled him down.
After arriving on the ground, she beamed and pulled them away toward the market. Her nose just scrunched a little at the smell when she passed by the bandits.
The trio brought some more supplies like seeds and cooking ingredients.
On the way, they passed by Young Master Han who didn’t seem to recognize them at first. The light from the oil lamp was quite dim, and unlike their appearance during the day, they had cleaned themselves.
"Hmph!" As soon as they got close and he finally recognized the twins, he turned his face away.
Ye Lanxi was slightly offended. "What’s wrong with him?"
Before he acted rashly, Ye Lingrui already grabbed their second brother. "Second Brother, the stalls selling spices are that way."
The siblings went back to the inn a few hours later, utterly exhausted. They always had to bring their supplies to a secluded place before they let Ye Lingyue store them inside her space storage.
Fortunately, it was also night time, and people couldn’t see their faces too clearly. Otherwise, with the amount of supplies they bought, some people might have recognized them and feel that their actions were suspicious.
Ye Lanxi already threw himself on the bed, preparing to sleep, but...
Someone tugged on his hand, trying to make him stay awake. He flipped his body and turned to the person grumpily. "What?"
It was Ye Lingrui.
"I need to discuss something with you and Yue’er," he told them.
With that, they went to Ye Lingyue’s place, and Ye Lanxi immediately dragged the slumbering girl out of her bed with an intent for revenge for what Ye Lingrui had done to him.
Then...
He sucked in a deep breath, trying to steady himself.
If Ye Lingrui hadn’t pulled him in time, the powder from Ye Lingyue’s hands would have splashed to his face.
"Stinky girl! You even want to poison your brother!"
This time, he was already aware of Ye Lingyue’s weapon and dodged in time. He pulled her a little roughly, trying to shake her awake.
Ye Lingrui pressed some acupoints in her neck, and she hissed, slowly opening her eyes. She grumpily asked them. "What’s the matter? I want to sleep!"
"Lingrui has something he wants to talk about with us. If you want to blame someone, blame him." Ye Lanxi pointed to his younger brother with the look of wanting to see the world in chaos plastered all over his face.
"Second Brother, Yue’er, watch this..." Ye Lingrui opened his palm.
