Chapter 52: They are Yours
Ye Lingyue was shocked, and a wide smile subconsciously spread across her face. She was about to harden her fists, but then stopped herself.
What if the System saw that, got scared, and ran away?
It would be her losing her money worth a hundred million yuan!
She fell into silence, waiting for the binding progress bar to increase. However, even after a long time passed, it stayed at 1% progress bar.
Although she was puzzled, she was more patient this time. Perhaps, it took longer because she was stranded in a new body.
So, she directed her attention to the present again. She recalled she had been talking to Ye Lanxi earlier. "Second Brother, did you say something?"
Ye Lanxi was bewildered. He thought that she was happy because he had refused the jewellry; this girl seemed to like it a lot. Wasn’t it the case?
"The jewellry is yours," he repeated unwillingly, ignoring Ye Lingrui’s meaningful eyes.
"Mine?" She blinked in confusion.
"Yes, yes, it’s yours. It belongs to Ye Lingyue. Don’t ask anymore," he let out a snort. "Who told you to always break your jewellry before? I gathered some of your fragile items and saved it for you."
From the side, Ye Lingrui added, "These are Second Brother’s gifts."
Ye Lanxi stiffened and glared at Ye Lingrui, but he still peeked at Ye Lingyue’s reaction, his expression slightly awkward.
"So, this is mine..." Ye Lingyue was surprised that Ye Lanxi cared about the original body owner so much. On the surface, he looked so hostile, and yet...
Ye Lingyue gave a gentle tug on his sleeve and said earnestly on behalf of the original Ye Lingyue. "Second Brother, thank you."
"I am sorry for selling the hairpin and jade bracelet before..." She apologized awkwardly.
He had even gotten injured just to protect this box of jewellry, enduring the beating from one of Yan Luo’s lackeys who might have drugged him.
Ye Lanxi let out a cold snort. "It’s yours so do whatever you want with it."
From the side, Ye Lingrui commented again. "Yes, sell them all. Second Brother made them himself. You can ask more from him later."
While Ye Lingyue had a surprised look on her face, Ye Lanxi already went over to grab Ye Lingrui and teach him a lesson. Yet Ye Lingrui was like a slippery eel, always escaping and avoiding his hands on time.
In the end, Ye Lanxi managed to grab Ye Lingrui’s collar. He turned to Ye Lingyue and swallowed.
"Yes, just sell them all. You are so good at hiding money... we will need more money compared to some jewellry."
Ye Lingyue nodded, and coughed awkwardly. Even the blockhead Ye Lanxi had realized she might have some secret relating to how she could easily hide things.
"Alright." She nodded, separating them and dragging them toward the night market again. "Help me sell them so I won’t be deceived."
Now, she also found the reason Ye Lingyue only had a little jewellry. No wonder that most of them were also not the kind of sharp ones. Even the hairpin was made of wood.
The original owner always broke them, so they must be afraid the broken shards might hurt her.
On the other hand... she glanced at the smug Ye Lanxi, and then Ye Lingrui.
Does Ye Lanxi also believe the Taoist Master that the original body will also recover? She felt a little complicated and...
A little jealous of the amount of love this original body owner has been receiving.
When she acted as Shen Wuqing, she deliberately never got close to the members of the Shen family, afraid she might get attached to them.
Ye Lingyue inwardly shook her head, not wanting to dwell on these thoughts any longer.
The siblings went to some jewellry shop and managed to get quite a considerable amount of money. All thanks to Ye Lanxi’s fierce look and Ye Lingrui’s intuition.
The former can intimidate people and the latter could detect whether some sellers were deceiving them or not.
When they returned, they brought one sack of rice.
Ye Lingyue checked the progress bar again before she went to sleep. She couldn’t help but felt slightly frustrated.
It still stayed at 1%.
[System, hello? Are you there?]
She was sure the System wouldn’t respond again, and her guess was right.
"What a broken System," she muttered in a voice as quiet as a mosquito before she pulled the blanket over her and slept.
She will check again tomorrow.
However, even until a week later, there was still no progress in the bar. Not even a percent! Ye Lingyue wondered whether she needed to wait for a lifetime before it even moved a percent.
She had no such time!
Two days later, she didn’t know whether to call it fortunate or not. She became occupied with something else that she didn’t have the time to think about the lack of progress in the broken System.
"These thieves appeared again!" Commander Leng’s voice thundered in the camping site during the morning. His piercing gaze fell on the shaking imperial guards in front of him.
"How did you all do your patrolling? Were you sleeping? So useless that you can’t even guard against a few thieves?!" Commander Leng cracked his whip, demanding an answer.
The imperial guards immediately admitted, "Commander, we are wrong!"
Commander Leng’s stance softened slightly. "Don’t let this happen again!"
Still, the day after that...
They still lost some supplies again.
The thieves didn’t target any valuables, but only the supplies.
Ye Lingyue took in her surroundings and realized that the soil was incredibly barren there. Most of the trees had died.
The further they walked, the more she saw some emaciated people with cracked lips and sickly appearance.
They had almost arrived at their destination.
The Ye family... had to survive in such a place.
"Lingyue, are you not curious who the thieves are?" Ye Lanxi approached her.
She shook her head, leaning against the tree lazily. "No."
Even so... it seemed that her quail eggs had attracted quite a few covetous eyes. These thieves came uninvited to their carriage.
