Chapter 41: The Signal
`Year 4 - Month 3 - Day 14 - 2300`
`[Status: Headmaster Lira]`
`[Location: The Trash God Academy - Central Plaza]`
`[Academy Population: 55,000 Students]`
`[Years Since Kael: 2 Years 1 Month]`
`[Signal Strength: 0.1% -> 0.3%]`
`[Weather: Clear Night]`
The statue was glowing.
Not bright.
Not blinding.
Just... faint.
Like a heartbeat in the dark.
Pale blue light.
Coming from the eyes of the statue.
Lira stood in front of it.
Alone.
At 11pm.
She had been standing there for 2 hours.
Behind her: footsteps.
Ren.
He was still in his armor from the Ironport mission.
Dirty.
Tired.
"Didn’t think I’d find you here," he said quietly.
Lira didn’t turn.
Her hand was on the base of the statue.
Cold stone.
Then... warm.
"It’s him," she whispered.
Ren looked up at the 20 meter statue of Kael.
Holding a piece of scrap in one hand.
Smiling.
The same smile.
"The Trash System picked up a signal," Ren said.
"0.1%. Now 0.3%."
"Coming from everywhere. And nowhere."
Lira finally turned.
Eyes red.
But not crying.
"He’s not gone," she said.
"I knew it. I felt it."
_Part 1: Emergency Meeting - 2330_
`[Attendees: Lira, Ren, Mira, Ren Jr, Sara, Scrap]`
`[Location: Headmaster’s Office]`
`[Security Level: MAX]`
The room was silent.
Scrap stood in the center.
Mark V.4.
His chest was open, projecting a hologram.
`[Signal Analysis: COMPLETE]`
`[Source: Distributed - Multi-Point]`
`[Pattern: 99.9% Match to Kael’s Energy Signature]`
`[Confidence: 87%]`
`[Origin: The Void]`
"87%?" Mira asked.
She was 17 now.
Captain of Team 1.
Hands still burned from building.
Scrap nodded.
His voice was deeper now.
"I would say 100%. But 13% of the signal is... corrupted. Or changed."
Ren Jr slammed his fist on the table.
The table cracked.
"Then we go get him!"
Sara grabbed his arm.
"Where? The Void? We don’t even know where that is."
Lira raised a hand.
Everyone went quiet.
She walked to the map on the wall.
10 red pins.
"These 10 cities," she said.
"All requested help this week."
"All had signal spikes."
She pointed.
"Dusthaven: 0.4%"
"Frosthold: 0.5%"
"Stormreach: 0.6%"
"Greendale: 0.8%"
"Lightport: 1.0%"
Ren stared.
"You think he wants us to go to these cities?"
Lira nodded.
"I think he’s leading us."
"I think Chapter 41 starts now."
_Part 2: Team Assignment - 0000_
`[Mission: Operation Signal]`
`[Teams: 5]`
`[Objective: Help 10 Cities + Investigate Signal + Find Pieces]`
`[Time Limit: 72 Hours]`
`[Team 1: Mira + Jax + 30 Students - 2 Cities]`
`[Specialty: Rapid Construction + Water]`
`[Cities: Dusthaven, Sandspire]`
`[Team 2: Ren Jr + Sara + 30 Students - 2 Cities]`

`[Cities: Greendale, Harveston]`
`[Team 5: Scrap + 20 Students - 2 Cities]`
`[Specialty: Engineering + Power]`
`[Cities: Lightport, Volt City]`
Jax raised his hand.
"Why split up? We’re stronger together."
"Because the signal is fading," Lira said.
"If we take too long, we lose him again."
"We have 72 hours."
Everyone stood.
"Let’s build," Mira said.
"Let’s build," 120 voices answered.
_Part 3: Team 1 - City of Dusthaven - Day 1_
`[Location: Dusthaven]`
`[Population: 100,000]`
`[Problem: Mega Sandstorm + Water Shortage]`
`[Signal Strength: 0.4% -> 0.5%]`
`[Time: 0600 - 1800]`
Dusthaven was buried.
50 meters of sand.
Houses gone.
People living in underground shelters.
Mira and Jax stood at the edge.
"How do we help?" Jax asked.
Mira looked at the sand.
Then smiled.
The same smile Kael used to have.
"We build water."
`[Project: Atmospheric Condenser Array]`
`[Units: 50]`
`[Time: 12 Hours]`
`[Materials: City Scrap]`
30 students worked.
No rest.
They pulled scrap from the sand.
Built condensers.
Machines that pulled water from the air.
Hour 6: First condenser online.
Hour 12: All 50 online.
`[Water Output: 1,000,000 Liters/Day]`
The city cheered.
And as the last condenser activated...
The signal spiked.
`[Signal: 0.4% -> 0.7%]`
Mira felt it.
In her chest.
"Dig here," she said.
Pointing to one spot.
They dug.
1 meter down:
A piece of scrap.
Small.
Rusty.
Engraved with a knife.
`[KEEP BUILDING - K]`
Jax picked it up.
His hands shook.
"He’s alive," he whispered.
"He’s really alive."
Mira hugged him.
"Yeah. And he’s waiting."
_Part 4: Team 2 - City of Frosthold - Day 1_
`[Location: Frosthold]`
`[Population: 80,000]`
`[Problem: Blizzard + Collapsed Mines]`
`[Signal Strength: 0.5% -> 0.6%]`
`[Time: 0600 - 2000]`
Frosthold was frozen.
-40 degrees.
Blizzard for 3 days.
200 miners trapped 1km underground.
Ren Jr didn’t wait.
`[Skill: [Thermal Builder]]`
He built heaters.
Big ones.
Melting tunnels as they went.
Sara led the rescue team.
Hour 10:
They reached the miners.
All alive.
Just cold.
As they brought the last one up...
The ice cracked.
Under it:
Another piece of scrap.
`[NEVER STOP - K]`
Sara held it.
Tears freezing on her face.
"That’s his handwriting."
Ren Jr put a hand on her shoulder.
"We’re getting closer."
_Part 5: Team 3 - Ren - City of Stormreach - Day 2_
`[Location: Stormreach]`
`[Population: 150,000]`
`[Problem: Category 5 Hurricane]`
`[Signal Strength: 0.6% -> 0.8%]`
`[Time: 0000 - 0600]`
Ren was alone.
Well, with 20 students.
But he did most of the work.
The hurricane was 300km wide.
Winds 300km/h.
"Barrier won’t hold," a student said.
Ren looked at the storm.
"Then we build bigger."
`[Skill: [Titan Wind Barrier]]`
1km long.
100 meters high.
Built in 6 hours.
The storm hit the barrier.
Broke around the city.
The city was safe.
In the eye of the storm:
Floating.
A piece of scrap.
`[I’M WATCHING - K]`
Ren caught it.
Held it to his chest.
"Took you long enough, kid."
_Part 6: Team 4 - Lira - City of Greendale - Day 2_
`[Location: Greendale]`
`[Population: 120,000]`
`[Problem: Famine + Crop Failure]`
`[Signal Strength: 0.8% -> 0.9%]`
`[Time: 0600 - 0600]`
Greendale was dying.
No food.
Crops failed.
Lira didn’t fight.
She built.
`[Project: Greenhouse City]`
`[Greenhouses: 100]`
`[Time: 24 Hours]`
20 students + Lira.
No sleep.
They built greenhouses.
With hydroponics.
With artificial light.
24 hours later:
Food for 1 year.
The farmers cried.
Lira was digging in the soil.
For the signal.
Her hands hit something.
A piece of scrap.
`[YOU’RE DOING GOOD - K]`
Lira broke down.
Finally.
After 2 years.
She cried.
Hard.
_Part 7: Team 5 - Scrap - City of Lightport - Day 3_
`[Location: Lightport]`
`[Population: 200,000]`
`[Problem: Total Power Grid Failure]`
`[Signal Strength: 1.0% -> 1.2%]`
`[Time: 0600 - 1400]`
Lightport was dark.
No power.
Hospitals failing.
Scrap walked in.
"20 students. With me."
8 hours.
They rebuilt the entire power grid.
From scrap.
Nuclear reactor.
Solar.
Wind.
All of it.
`[Power: 100% RESTORED]`
And in the central reactor core:
The last piece.
`[COME FIND ME - K]`
`[COORDINATES: ATTACHED]`
Scrap’s eyes flashed red.
`[Coordinates: Decoded]`
`[Location: The Void]`
`[Depth: Unknown]`
`[Danger Level: EXTREME]`
_Part 8: The Return - Day 4 - 1800_
All 5 teams came back.
At the same time.
At the statue.
Lira was waiting.
One by one:
Mira gave her piece.
Ren Jr gave his.
Ren gave his.
Lira gave hers.
Scrap gave the last.
10 pieces.
Lira put them together.
They clicked.
Like a puzzle.
And formed a map.
`[THE VOID]`
`[LOCATION: CENTER OF THE WORLD]`
`[DEPTH: INFINITE]`
`[WARNING: DO NOT ENTER UNPREPARED]`
Ren looked at Lira.
"We going?"
Lira looked at 55,000 students.
Watching.
"No. Not yet."
She held up the map.
"He wants us to keep building."
"Until we’re strong enough to survive The Void."
_Part 9: The Academy Announcement - 1900_
Lira stood on the stage.
55,000 students below.
"Students!" she shouted.
The entire Academy went silent.
"We found him."
Gasps.
"Kael is alive. In The Void."
"And he left us messages."
She held up the 10 pieces of scrap.
"Together they say:"
`"KEEP BUILDING. NEVER STOP. I’M WATCHING. YOU’RE DOING GOOD. COME FIND ME."`
55,000 voices roared.
"WE BUILD!"
_Part 10: The Signal Grows - Week 1 to 4_
`[Week 1: Signal 1.2% -> 5.0%]`
`[Week 2: Signal 5.0% -> 10.0%]`
`[Week 3: Signal 10.0% -> 15.0%]`
`[Week 4: Signal 15.0% -> 20.0%]`
Every city they helped.
Every building they made.
Every life they saved.
The signal got stronger.
Kael was getting closer.
_Part 11: Training for The Void_
`[New Classes Added:]`
`[Void Survival]`
`[Extreme Construction]`
`[Signal Tracking]`
Ren trained combat teams.
Mira trained builders.
Scrap trained engineers.
`[Academy Population: 60,000]`
_Part 12: The Final Scene - Night 30_
`[Location: Central Plaza]`
Lira sat under the statue.
Ren sat next to her.
"You think he’s proud?" Ren aske
d.
Lira looked around.
50,000 students building.
At 2am.
"Look," she said.
Above them, the sky.
And in the distance...
A faint blue light.
`[THE VOID]`
`[SIGNAL: 20% AND RISING]`
Lira smiled.
"Yeah," she said.
"He’s proud."
`[THE TRASH GOD ERA: Chapter 2]`
`[OBJECTIVE: FIND HIM]`
`[STATUS: PREPARING]`
To Be Continued...
