If we hadn’t been able to use the Puppet Girl for long-distance calls to check on things, Jason and the others would’ve come looking for us.

Hearing that, Pororo chuckled, patted his shoulder, and said, "Kid, this time we pulled off something big. You missed it."

"What big thing could you possibly have done? If you’d really done something, how could I not know?"

Jason said with open disdain.

He was still in touch with those demon-hunting squads from the Demon Hunting Fortress; if there were any intel worth noting, he’d have known long ago.

Pororo just smiled at that and didn’t argue with him. Once they told the story later, he’d naturally find out.

Alka looked around.

Compared to when they left, Return Town was larger now, at least double in area, though it still only counted as a town.

But Alka could see that besides the firearms from before, there were now many more weapons for sale.

That big chunk of machinery covered in gray cloth was probably some kind of engineering or city-defense weapon, right?

"Have any new weapons production lines started up while we were gone?" Alka asked.

Jason nodded. "Yeah. They built a kind of city-defense Elemental Cannon. It can adjust its shells based on certain attributes of Demons and make targeted attacks.

Mainly, they lightened the framework, used a lower cost to make tougher-quality builds.

The key feature is it can gather Energy and shoot farther, so it can effectively damage those Cyclops out in the distance."

Alka nodded in understanding. So it met the criteria for mass production and sale: sturdy, durable, and patching up previous shortcomings.

Even if the cost could never get that low, it was good enough.

In other words, Return Town had now really become an arms dealer.

But there was no helping that.

For the current World Scar, among all the Vastva research projects, only those previously developed arms really suited the present situation.

Other research meant to promote development simply didn’t have much of a market or effect in a place where even basic safety couldn’t be fully guaranteed.

Still, you could already see from this that the Vastva had completely gotten a firm foothold here.

The Alliance had even sent guards to co-defend Return Town.

"Where are the others?" Chadite looked at Ulu Liwus and the other one and asked.

"Matilda went to provide medical aid; she should be back soon.

Juanlu is trying to raise some normal beasts here to supply a stable source of food.

As for Simona, of course she can only stay down in the lab."

They all nodded at that.

Then they went back to their quarters to rest.

The Vastva had built a small manor especially for them.

Toward evening.

Everyone gathered together in the hall of their residence.

Pororo, who’d long since woken up, was sitting on a huge custom-made sofa and recounting their latest experience to everyone.

Lucilia and Chadite chimed in with details from the side.

"You actually did all that in just half a year? And even solved some long-standing trouble? You rescued a Race on the brink of extinction and let those former Warriors finally get what they deserved."

Jason summed up their experiences, then slumped back in his chair, face full of regret.

"If I’d known, I’d have gone with you."

Beside him, Ulu Liwus solemnly nodded along. She’d grown up with Alka and the others; the urge to adventure had always flowed in her blood.

"Alright, let’s take a look at this Treasure now."

As Alka spoke, he took the Cloud Staff out of his storage space and laid it on the table.

They all looked at the Scepter.

"Sure is plain and simple-looking," Juanlu muttered.

Matilda looked at Pororo and the others. "You’ve tried it already?"

They all nodded; they’d already tested it on the way back, and none of them fit.

The few who’d stayed in Return Town exchanged looks. Seems it was up to them to give it a try.

Looking at the Scepter, Juanlu couldn’t help thinking of his own staff. And honestly, the two did look a bit alike.

He thought for a moment, then simply reached out, grabbed the staff, and tried it first.

After sensing it for a while, he shook his head.

Clearly, it wasn’t working.

Then Matilda, Juanlu, and Simon each tried in turn, and all of them shook their heads.

Obviously, it didn’t suit any of them.

Only Jason was left.

Jason took a deep breath and put his hand on the Scepter.

If it didn’t fit him either, this Treasure would be a problem, and what Alka and the others were worried about would come to pass—though honestly that kind of thing was pretty normal.

As his Magic Power flowed into it, the Scepter didn’t budge.

After feeling it out for a bit, Jason shook his head.

No good.

In an instant, everyone’s faces showed deep regret.

A Scepter-grade Treasure with no one to wield it.

That was the kind of loss anyone would find a real shame.

Just then, Ulu Liwus picked up the Scepter.

As her Magic Power flowed in, the Scepter lit up, and clouds poured out of it, coiling around them.

"How’d you pull that off?" Alka couldn’t quite wrap his head around it.

Because of the deep contract, Ulu Liwus and Jason’s attributes were almost identical; there shouldn’t be a situation where it suited one of them but not the other.

Ulu Liwus picked up the Scepter and closed her eyes. A faint light streamed out of her body, turned into ribbons, and flowed into Jason’s body.
