Trinitas Mundus - The Story of Saint Knight Ray

Episode 52: The Duke of Braveburn

The morning of September 25th.

The three of them, Ray, Ashley and Stella, sneak off to the royal castle so Hamish and the others don't know.

Unlike yesterday, I walked through the main entrance to the Knights headquarters in a dismal manner.

Ray was asking Ashley about the Duke he was going to see now in order to distract him from the tension.

"Hey, what's a Duke of Braveburn like?

"Right. In a nutshell, it's a samurai book. I've only heard from you a few times, too, but I think you're casual. In his high capacity as Duke, he always lacks his own training and eats the same meal as a soldier during his march. Plus, it's bright on the military. My father said that the Duke is the ideal of a general."

"Wow. The one who makes that Mr. Hamish say so much. I don't know if there's anything I can do."

Ashley shudders at him for whining so much about his lack of confidence, and wonders if he deserves to be beside him.

(You're awesome. Only eighteen or nine young men convinced the Knights' cutters and the famous Lord Gladstone. It makes me more anxious if I deserve to stand beside you. The words I used to say to Hal are never lies. If it's for standing beside Ray, I don't hate anything. but......)

Stella hadn't been able to organize herself yet.

(Thinking about Master Ray, I don't know what to do. Between Master Ashley and Master Ray, there's no gap in me. Am I in the way for those two? But you need me again this time. After they came home for the evening, they asked me to help all the mercenaries from now on)

She had no particular interest in this one.

(I wonder why Master Ray desperately thinks so much about it? For me, it's the people who made me better, but that's all. My previous husband, Mr. Deoddard, could not cry, even when he died, like Mr. Morkley. Maybe even if Master Hamish dies this time. All that matters to me...... Master Ray, and only these two, Master Ashley, whom Ray loves. I was just glad it wasn't dangerous for me to say Master Ray wouldn't go again this time)

And see what Ray looks like later.

(With this said, that one looks sad. That's harder on me. I want that one to laugh. That's all I need...)

She's been thinking about that without exposing her mind to others.

When the three of them got to Seaver Gladstone's room, a knight about the same age as Gladstone was waiting for them.

Gladstone introduces the knight.

"It's Niges Leland. I need you to do the deputy captain of the Third Battalion this time. That's Ray Arklight the young man was talking about. Next to it is Ashley Markat. This is the daughter of Lord Hamish Markat. Is the girl behind you okay with another fellow named Stella?

Nigeth Leland has a slightly horny face and deep blue eyes have an atmosphere that calms the beholder. My back is about the same as Ray's - about 185cm - and I hang a well-used long sword on my hips, whether I wear a disappointing body or use a one-handed sword.

"It's Leland. I have heard more from the deputy commander. Not very helpful, thank you."

With that said, I've offered you my right hand.

Ray was admired for his natural behavior.

(I don't think a young man like me would feel very good if he liked the Knights Commander or Deputy Commander, but that's what makes him so normal. It could be a play, but with this guy, we could figure it out)

"I'm Ray Arklight. Best regards,"

After Ray greets him, he continues with Ashley, Stella.

Ray introduces Stella to Gladstone and Leland.

"This is Stella, my trusted companion. As far as reconnaissance is concerned, Lord Alberic Auger of the Mercenary Corps of Markat has taunted us."

Gladstone and Leland look at a mid teenage Beastman girl and say no. Especially since yesterday. Gladstone has been

(I was also surprised by this young man named Arklight, but if that (...) Lord Alberic were to say he admitted it, it would be a considerable scourge of arms. But when a young man rises up like this, don't realize you're old. It's still, like, forty-two, but I)

At the end of the face-to-face meeting, he visited Count Victor Lockletter, the Knights Commander, and headed further under the Duke of Grant Braveburn.

Although Ashley had been asked once about the liturgy, Ray's tension was culminating when he met the Duke, a heavy town in the country.

(Ash's story is that I'm not a loud guy for etiquette, but I was the nervous type until six months ago to just meet the high school principal... my stomach hurts. We need to be careful not to soften it......)

Lord Braveburn's room was not in the Knights headquarters, but in the royal palace, where Ray had been blinded by the palace he entered for the first time.

The high ceilings, which have a normal upstairs portion or so, are arched and have various decorations on the walls - relief, tapestries, sculptures, etc. Whether there are many windows with glass and the light of day is calculated to strike well, or whether the light of day in the morning gives a relief picturing the western goddess a deep shadow and is of interest that can be described as fantastic.

(I've only seen it on video, but don't feel like there was something like this in some of the best art museums in Europe)

On the floor they walk, there are plenty of marble-like white stones on which a bright carpet of wool is laid.

Ray regretted coming to the wrong place.

(This atmosphere is heavy... it's a top notch everywhere I look, and it's out of place for me, a little citizen. Still, Ash is grand, and Stella doesn't seem to care, and I'm the only one who's scared that I'm starting to feel unfair...)

With that in mind, Gladstone walking forward stops in front of a big door.

And when I asked the soldier standing guard to take over, he was immediately invited to his room.

Once inside, you will see a large executive desk and a splendid armor gleaming in silver next to it.

The office seemed to follow with the next room, with the back in the reception room.

Gladstone heads to the back room, and the five follow.

There was a man in his mid-forties sitting in the reception room, and he called out "well done" with a samurai-like tense voice.

"Put it there. Oh, that's rude here. No courtroom rituals required."

Speaking unilaterally, Ray is bewildered, but Gladstone prompts him to lower his hips on the couch in the reception room.

(You're a man of momentum. Duke, so I thought you might feel more great, but you're as casual as Ash said. Surely like this, if a civilian soldier was called out, he would be grateful)

When he finishes his greeting, Lord Braveburn speaks to Ashley with a grin.

"Long time no see. Um, I got a little more beautiful in the blink of an eye. Hamish will be fine. He'll be worried. I was wondering if some weird guy would come near me."

Ashley, who was told she was beautiful, is blushing.

After a word or two of public talk, I immediately got to the point.

Ray will tell the Duke and the Knights Commander again what he told Gladstone yesterday.

When the explanation began, the face of the Duke, who was cheerful, gradually became more rugged.

Even after Ray's explanation, the two will not open their mouths for a while in silence, and since the others will not open their mouths as well, silence dominates the scene.

After a while, the Duke slowly opened his mouth.

"In other words, Hamish is likely to die in this operation. And that if Hamish were to die, Bridgand would be ravaged. Even if the Bridgend doesn't fall, if Hamish dies, His Majesty's, and the royal reputation will be lost."

Ray nods quietly.

"And to prevent it, when we follow Hamish after the Knights have made a request to ourselves and gained freedom of movement. I see, there is reason. I don't know if the Knights will be disadvantaged by this suggestion..."

Lord Braveburn looks at the face of the Knights captain after squealing like a solitaire.

"Um, if Hamish is also my beloved daughter's word, I might ask. Victor, what would Sir think?

Knights leader Victor Rockletter began to showcase his thoughts after a light meeting with the Duke.

"I was wondering if what Ray said was particularly true. Even more so, this man may bring out good wisdom on the battlefield. I'm here, Leland, but I can't master the Third Battalion right away. When Lord Hamish is ready to die in battle, I can't imagine that little brat fighting for his life. In the worst case scenario, the Knights may even flee back in the form of a strong sacrifice to the prostitutes. In that case, the honor of the Knights will also fall to the ground."

"Right. If you think lightly of this battle as just an outpost, don't let it get you at your feet. Leland, Arklight. Then I entrust the fate of the kingdom to you. Please."

Leland gets up off the couch immediately, on one knee, and drips his head off. The face was reddish, his voice slightly trembling.

"Even if you change my life, I will always show you what you expect."

Ray is dismayed by the way he looks, but he immediately bows his head,

"I don't know if I can meet your expectations, but I'll try to do all I can. Captain Markut will definitely take you back to Fonce, the king's capital."

With that said, he was baffled by excessive expectations.

(Stir it up yourself. What is it, but when people say the fate of the kingdom or something, it's kind of. Can't we do something about it ourselves, instead of entrusting it to a young man like me? They say the Dukes are popular with the knights, so if they say a line like now, maybe they'll rise, but it's none of my business. I'm not even going to be a secretary.)

The Duke was surprised as well as impressed by Ray's attitude, which did not rise to his word.

(I didn't know I could handle this nonsense so calmly. Usually, even calm Leland, when entrusted with the destiny of the kingdom, gets hot like that, if Duke Tatsuno tells you. In exchange for that, I didn't expect to be able to remain so calm at this young age. Don't you want the favor of Non? You mean Hamish's life is more important than that)

The Knights captain who was watching beside him was also impressed with Ray's appearance, which seemed tattered, but only Gladstone had an accurate insight into Ray's mind.

(I don't know your Excellency very well, so I guess I can stay as tatty as that. But maybe that's good. Rise up here and you'll lose even this one instead of helping Lord Markat)

The Duke instructed the Knights Commander to make a request, as Ray was right.

"Keep your request with the Adventurer Guild, as Arklight has planned. And give Arklight the testimony that he is under the command of the Knights. Like that little Kilgaroho guy can't do anything bad."

Ray and Ashley were disappointed that they were able to participate in this troop outpost and obtained conditions that allowed them to move even more freely.

Later, after enough chatter, the Rays said they had plans to see the Duke next, leaving the Duke's room behind.

(For now, I'm ready. After that, how to make use of this position. See the situation while acting with the Third Battalion…)

Enough after the Rays left, mercenary guild chiefs Duke Selzam and Hamish Markat were visiting the Duke's office.

Duke, the guild leader, started talking to the Duke about funding.

Yesterday, we talked about the way Ray talked about it - how to collect donations from commercial guilds.

The Duke was uncomfortable as he listened.

(You certainly didn't think about talking about funds. Non may give it, but this proposal is more convenient for His Majesty and Lord Kilgaroho. If the Braveburns let them out, they will dispute His Majesty's judgment. But can you think of anything like this for these two? These two are raw mercenaries. Whose wisdom......)

"Okay. Let's talk to Lord Inverhollow from Non. But whose plan is this? I don't think you can come up with a plan like this."

They looked at each other and Duke started talking in a troubled face.

"As Your Excellency said, we cannot think of such a measure. There was a wise man in Markat's diet, and it was in his hands."

(Are you a Hamish eater? Maybe it's about a young man named Arklight earlier)

"It's Hamish. Will that wise man join the brave army this time? Such a wise man would make it easier to fight."

Hamish looked a little troubled,

"Unfortunately, we will not participate. We're going to get our support back there."

The Duke snorts, grinning niggardly.

(It's still Arklight... these two will be surprised when they leave the army. Looking forward to it)

Subsequently, there will be practical discussions such as the time of departure and replenishment, with Hamish and others after the Royal Palace.

The Duke of Braveburn visited Lord Inverhollow, where Hamish, through his mercenary guild, talked about recruiting prostitutes, as well as discussing measures to prevent Lord Kilgaroho from winning alone.

(This is fine for Lord Inverhollow. But I have a bad feeling about it. Do I have to tell you what it's like...)

With a difficult face, the Duke returned to his own office.
