Trinitas Mundus

Episode XIX: Duel: Previous

The night before the duel.

Ray had no feelings at dinner and was acting like he was normally spending time.

But when I go back to my room and be alone, I get my head full about tomorrow's duel.

I was about to be crushed by fear that I would have to fight a battle that risked my life tomorrow.

(I did everything I could... but when I thought I might not be able to pick up tomorrow night... I want to get out of here...)

”Con, con..."

Immersed in thought, I didn't realize it, but the sound of knocking on the door was ringing.

When Ray opened the door, Ashley stood there and asked if I could come inside.

He wondered what it was, but was invited inside, recommended a chair to her, and he sat himself down in bed.

"Can I help you?

"No, I thought you were getting horrible by now. Tomorrow is Ray's” first line ”. 'Cause I heard warriors in front of the first line can't sleep because of fear."

"Ever heard of it? Wasn't Ashley horrible in the first place?

"My first line was sudden. He was attacked on the move and joined the fight without stopping. So I'm not sure how I felt the day before..."

He was grateful that Ashley thought of herself and visited the room, but soon he was full of heads about tomorrow and couldn't afford to talk.

Ashley doesn't have a topic either, or because she's thinking about tomorrow, keep her mouth shut and don't open.

Somehow the awkward air flowed, but Ashley began to talk.

"I'm not sure what to say at a time like this... but that's all I want to say. He wants me alive, he wants me to choose to live because I can run away. I would have scorned you for being a coward before, but now I can't stand for you to be gone..."

Ray loses his word to that sincere word.

"I got it. If he is about to be killed, he has no looks or hearsay, lays down his weapon and begs for his life. So I want Ashley to promise me, too. Even if Cylon comes provoking me, I'll never get on it. That's all I'm worried about..."

"Oh, let's promise. Even if you're killed, I need to challenge Theron..."

"When the duel is over, I want you to listen to me. Tomorrow... when it's over..."

Silence reigns over the room again.

Ray was grinding in his heart with Ashley in front of him.

(It is true to say that I will miss my human skin before death. I want to hold Ashley like this. But... if I survive tomorrow... it sounds like some kind of death flag, but it will be my goal to live. Absolutely survive......)

Ashley watched how Ray was doing.

(What do you want to talk about? I wonder what Ray thinks of me?... Will you be able to welcome tomorrow, tomorrow night, safely? If Ray dies... if he kills you, you will never forgive Theron. I'll go kill him even if I break my promise...)

After seeing him again, Ashley said nothing and left the room quietly as it was.

The leftover rays are:

(If I survive, I'll tell you that I'm from a different world. And let's talk about traveling with you... and...)

He was just a little forgotten about the fear of death with Ashley coming to me.

And I got to sleep, trying not to think about tomorrow.

The next morning, the morning of the duel.

Wake up at six in the morning, as usual.

When the wooden window opens, a refreshing breeze enters the room with the blinding morning sun.

I got to sleep right after that last night and Ray was in the same shape as usual and had no particular problems.

He yawned,

(Phew. I slept well...... I'm in good shape. The tension last night is pretty much gone, too. How will we spend the next few hours? The body is not going to train too hard, even if it moves lightly, and I don't want to drain the magic. But I wouldn't be comfortable if I hadn't done something...)

With that in mind, get ready for practice in the morning.

Heading into training in the usual routine backyard, Ashley had already begun to swing.

Her eyes were slightly red and she looked sleepless, but he pretended not to notice the matter.

When we exchange greetings, Ray also begins to waver.

Ashley said, "How's it going?" Asked Toshiori, he smiled

"I slept well yesterday. I'm just fine."

Ashley also smiles back at the uncomfortable answer.

(Sounds really okay. But we still have time. Because of the operation, I had no choice but to make it at 3: 00 p.m., but this wait is hard. At times like this, they may be tougher around you than they are in person...)

Ray was thinking the same thing.

(I still have more than eight hours. I'm not nervous yet, but step by step, I guess I'm getting nervous. Reminds me of the entrance exam...... were you thrilled even then until just before? Don't feel like something happened a long time ago... if you were in Japan, college life would have started)

Talk to Ashley about what to do with the time crush until 3pm after breakfast.

In her opinion, it was a good idea to train with Shabby for a full morning and rest her body in the afternoon.

Ray decided to follow Ashley's opinion because there was nothing in particular he wanted to do.

(It was good to relax, but in the end, you mean you should keep your body moving as long as you get more twitching and nervousness)

When I went to the mercenary guild training ground, there were more people today than usual.

Apparently, to see Ray and Theron duel.

(It's been told that it's off-limits for spectators. Well, I leave it to the Cutler Branch Manager, and let's not worry about it)

As Ray and Shabby and Ashley begin their training, the gaze around them gathers.

At first I was concerned, but by waving the spear indifferently, the murmurs around him stopped getting into his ears.

I'll be doing my usual two-on-one mock game in the morning.

Exactly. Shabby didn't take it seriously today either, he was a mock sword, but Ray makes the offense between the two with a better cut move than he did yesterday.

In fact, they were somewhat out of hand until yesterday because they both wanted Ray to feel good about heading to the duel. Still, I couldn't be more interested in him getting stronger day by day.

Shabby looks at Ray, who even smiles from time to time.

(How many skill sets does this guy have? You may have peeled it off in yesterday's battle with the Middle-Ghost (Oak)...... now that you've seriously fought this guy, you'll be pretty shredded without magic. If they use magic......)

After training in the morning and having lunch, Ray and Ashley headed to a residential neighborhood far enough away because they didn't want to see Cylon as much as they could.

While climbing the hill, sit on a bench halfway up the ninety-ninth slope and get a pleasant afternoon breeze in the spring.

There was little conversation between the two of them, but tension and fear were not strangely felt.

2 pm. The two enter the mercenary guild.

Still, Theron hadn't come and waited relaxed in the waiting space in front of the reception.

2: 50 p.m. Aaron Cutler Branch Manager appears.

3pm. Cylon, wearing leather armor as usual, appears with party members.

Cutler Branch Manager looked grumpy,

"It's a good courage to keep the witness waiting. You almost made it undefeated. Well, there's no change in terms for either of us. If not, we'll be at the training ground in no time."

Theron stood in front of the branch manager, in a mild tone

"Wait for me, Branch Manager. It's a condition, but you can let in a spectator. They want to see it."

The Branch Manager has no ear to listen to,

"No. Or make it undefeated and in the form of a rematch? Still, if you don't mind, I'll think about it."

Theron flaunts his shoulder like a man and follows the branch manager.

When the three Rays, Theron and Cutler Branch Managers enter the training ground, Alliance officials kick people out of the training ground.

A protest is raised by the mercenaries, but the noise quickly subsides with the Branch Manager's drink, and the officials kick out the mercenaries.

And after they all left, they closed all the doors that were open.

Only the upper window, which was for brightness, was open, and the light of the diagonal day was creating shadows on the floor of the training ground.

Three men stand in a 30m x 20m training ground.

I usually felt narrow with the mercenaries I train, but that place with only three people feels gallant and wider than usual.

The distance between them is roughly five meters. In the meantime, the Branch Manager will stand and lightly explain precautions such as winning conditions.

Theron had overheard it seemingly unplugged and turned his mockery to provoke Ray.

Ray ignores it as he pretends to listen to the branch manager's explanation in order to keep his mind normal.

"Good for both of you then. Again, intentional” killing ”is strictly forbidden. If you ignore my voice of restraint, you lose on the spot. That's good."

When I saw the two of them snort, the branch manager said, "Begin!," he exclaimed, backing off.

Ray had quietly gathered the power of the Spirit in his left hand from before the beginning signal of the Branch Manager.

(Technically, it may be a contradiction, but I'm not on the ban. If we don't do this, we can't get ahead of ourselves...)

With the signal of initiation, he moves to the right as he takes the position of spearing and intercepting with his right hand, spying on Theron's condition. Theron doesn't even show any particular vigilance and stuffs the distance toward Ray carelessly.

About two seconds after the signal of initiation, the power of the Spirit accumulates.

Ray unleashed a flashing magic toward Theron at the time he entered the shadow part of the training ground.

A dazzling light is emitted from his left hand that makes the camera flash more powerful.

The training ground was wrapped in silent white light, and the light slowly disappeared.

Ray is convinced that the unsecured Cylon saw the light of course.

(Okay, hung up! Attack this gap...! Why!?

Shortly after Ray tried to attack him, Theron was fleshy on him before the light subsided.

Ray, who thought his eyeballs had worked, was struck by Theron's behavior, which led him to the slaughter of a spotter aimed at his flank.

The sound of tapping a metal called "cancer" echoes around.

Ray was struck by the flank and darkened in front of him by the pain, but fortunately the blade was prevented by armor and had to take no fatal damage.

But soon, a second and third machete attack will strike him in the arm.

Its sword speed was almost comparable to Shabby's, and its left arm, slightly delayed in dodging, had been slashed thin.

Theron's attacks continue afterwards.

A slashing attack that takes advantage of the curve of the simulator strikes constantly from left to right.

Small radius movements like chopping off the wrist, large radius movements like chopping up from the bottom mix together, chopping and chopping him with sworddance-like movements.

Its feet were not sharp linear, but had a slow, graceful turn like a dance. But that turn adds a hips rotation, and the simulator hits him with a high wind-cut sound of "heh, heh”. And when the steel blade hit the armor, the sound of "cancer, cancer” was echoing inside the training ground.

His armor, the high defense of Nixwestis, and the results of the training he receives in armor had not caused any fatal damage, but had nevertheless sustained nearly a dozen wounds in a dozen attacks.

(Damn it! Ouch! That's awkward as it is...... but why didn't the flash work? No, you can't think about that right now. Where he was slaughtered, it hurts, but there's still no fatal damage. Switch your head...... if you take it with armor, there is little damage. Remember when you practiced......)

Ray had about two minutes and finally recovered from the first mess.

Attacks on exposed areas that were initially received also succeed in receiving them with thick armor.

(We can go! All right, fight back... no gaps?... avoid it so you can't fight back with the best of your ability... how long does the attack last?

Theron's attack is mild.

But the lightness was because it minimized the amount of health used for a single blow, and, combined with his flowing, useless attacks, the drain of health was kept to a minimum.

(You're upset. I guess so. I'm going to make the first magic decision, but all of a sudden I keep getting attacked. That's an uninterrupted attack too... hurry up and attack. I'll make up my mind at the counter. If you slit his throat, the branch manager stops, but he dies. It's a force majeure attack, too.)

Theron heard information that Ray would use the magic of light attributes and thought he was going to magically set something up. I was confident that an arrow of light or a spear of light could avoid it, but I didn't know what other magic there was, so I was confirming the magic assumed by the party magician.

Exactly until the original magical flash, I couldn't have predicted. But I was expecting to use it for ambush props rather than physical attacks in order to be melee and set up in a short time.

It was the magician's opinion that he would fly balls of light in front of his face to deflect attention or a small needle of light to restrain him. Theron sees an unnatural ray move and immediately expects there to be a magical attack. As a result, in the moment of magical activation, he succeeded in laying his face down.

Ray looks at Theron's spare face and is in a hurry to see if the attack will still continue.

(As it is, even if I keep avoiding it, one day I will have deadly attacks in my arms and face. How much stamina does he have? I've been attacking you for over three minutes now, and that spare face... no, don't rush. Both Shabby and Ashley said it. The enemy also suffers when he suffers. Sometimes the enemy seems to have more room than himself. But that's an illusion...)

He remembered the two words and regained his calm. But he also felt a little anxious that the first magic had been sent.

(The operation avoids his attack, but if it's not possible, I'll take it with armor. And use that magic when he's in a hurry. That's why I chose this time. But won't this magic be done either...)

Theron, on the other hand, was also slowly starting to rush.

(What is this guy's armor made of! My attack is certainly light. But with all this hassle, it should usually be dented or the connection broken. I think I've already put dozens of shots in it. Come on, you're getting depressed)

Theron's attacks continue.

Suddenly, he swings wide, releasing the slashing down from the right, then spins with a twist on his body. Then, as it was, he put the force of its rotation on the blade and struck down a slaughter that would knock him into the same spot again.

The blow was an attack of unexpected weight on the spotter, making a loud noise like hitting a metal plate with a hammer when Ray was hit with that attack on his right shoulder.

Though the blade itself stopped at the shoulder, the impact of the beating passed straight into Ray's clavicle.

The impact on the clavicle causes severe pain to run enough to hold your breath.

Ray said, "Ouch! groaned, about to kneel, but managed to indulge and focus again on dodging.

(Ouch! Even though it's a simmer attack they said was light...... my arm moves. The bones look fine, but awkward, not like this...)

When I saw Theron, my breath was just rising, and my spare grin was becoming something that attracted me.

However, in addition to the exposed areas such as the arms and face, Ray's figure was also made countless cuts by means of blades that entered the gap in the armor.

His white armor, Nixwestis (the snow coat), was coloured with dotted red spots and an elongated red line, as he scattered red liquid over the fresh snow.

Theron was feeling a response to a blow to the shoulder.

(The blow should be working for whatever it takes right now. Besides, that bleeding, even if I let it go, I guess I won't be able to move within it, but the stamina over here is getting worse. Besides, he ran out of trump cards first. Let's get this over with...)

Theron grins furiously, adding more trouble.

The higher sounds of metal bumping into each other are even louder and faster.

Ray had given up on taking it with his spear, avoiding it and keeping it from hitting the exposed part, so he was at his best.

(Theron hangs on to his decision. For a moment, just for a moment, if you show me the gap, I can get the distance. Just for a moment)
