Lesson 15: The Mercenary Hall

The size of Ashley's home, the Markat family, and the heavy atmosphere created by the grey stones made Ray unwittingly stop.

(You're lying... it's much bigger than I expected... I was somewhat prepared because I heard it binds mercenaries from a hundred people...)

Beyond him he stared, there was a large gate, four meters high and three meters wide, where two soldiers held spears in their hands and stood on a walking post.

(I knew it wasn't the average home, but this size and atmosphere... my legs clatter...)

Ashley urged me to start moving forward, but my face was tense and my eyes were vain.

(One of the best swordsmen in the kingdom is waiting for me to attack him... I can't...)

Ashley realizes that thought of Ray, but she can't afford to work on him because he's not well organized in his feelings.

(What shall I say to my father? I jumped out close to running. But I need to talk to Ray... can you explain it well?

As Ashley stood in front of the gate, one of the outposts, a young man in his late teens, called out.

"This is the headquarters of the Mercenary Corps of Markat. Let me ask you something."

His senior-like mid twenties soldiers were circling their eyes next to the young soldier asking so heavily as to make him dignified.

He notices Ashley, with a full grin, and rushes over.

"My lady! Ashley, it's your daughter! Come in, please."

The soldier, who approached Ashley and tried to guide her inside, told a junior who stood next to her,

"What are you blurring about! Tell the captain your daughter is back! Run!"

The young soldier said, "Yes! After shouting," he rushes into the building with all his strength.

Ray, who saw the appearance of it, watched the interaction flauntingly.

(Lady... and this response... I knew Ash was a lady...)

And then I realize I'm looking at the soldiers' gear.

(Caged hands (gauntlet), armor (van blaze), upper armor (rear blaze) red? It's close to the vermilion... is this where the Red Arms comes from? Ash's gear is normal for that, right?)

Once inside, the building was in the shape of a (b), with a courtyard of thirty m squares. Do you even train, it's not a common garden, it's a flat ground where the soil has been swept out.

An earlier young soldier screamed, because of the rush in, the mercenaries who were in the courtyard gathered at the gate.

The mercenaries are not equipped with unified objects like the Knights, but in towns such as metal and leather armor, where the weapons also possess various weapons such as two-handed swords, one-handed swords, spears and bows.

In the meantime, only the equipment of the arms was aligned in red, and its unity created a kind of, unusual atmosphere.

Of the mercenaries, the slightly senile mercenaries of the late twenties and thirties laughed and said, "Welcome home, young lady!," he says.

But walking behind it, when I saw Ray, I hardened my expression as soon as I could.

In response to the reluctant gaze of the strong mercenaries, Ray stretched his face even harder.

(Ko, I'm scared... I think I got into that muscle person's office... I slashed it. It's the people of the world, so I guess it's close if I say so... it looks chippery...)

From behind him, the mercenaries said, "Who is that guy?," "Your daughter brought a man? I can hear you without hesitation.

Ashley heads to the stables behind the courtyard with a bitter laugh that creeps up to the reaction as expected.

When she reached the stables, she found the face she had seen and finally smiled.

"Bart, it's been a long time. Looking good, above all."

The man, called Bart, was a mid-fifties or so man with half-white gray hair, with prosthetic legs down from his right leg knee.

"My lady! Hey, I'm home!

Ashley slapped Bart on the shoulder and gave him the horse, as it were, tried to get inside the building.

While Ray was confused, trying to give Bart his horse, he said, "Oh, man. Who is it?" But stare at it as you say.

Ray said, "Please," as he bowed his head and gave him his beloved horse, and Burt instantly let that famous horse take his eyes off him.

"This one! Isn't that a frog's military horse? What the hell!

Ashley looked back at that voice,

"Ray is one of mine. Take care of Stella's horse."

Bart still had a hard look to ask, but received the horse reluctantly and so on.

Ray follows Ashley to escape, and Stella also follows her to protect just behind Ray. Her hands were hung on daggers to get her into battle immediately.

"Stella, we're safe here. Ray is also (...) safe. So don't pull out your sword."

"Yes...... but Master Ray has put me in the mood to kill"

Ray is grinning bitterly as he scratches his head.

"It's okay... maybe... don't pull out your sword until it's me or Ash."

Stella takes her hand off the sword to that word of Ray. But I flew my gaze around, and I couldn't stop being alert.

Entering the building doesn't reduce the number of voices you can hang on Ashley. On the contrary, people were gradually gathering and starting to line up on both sides of the hallway.

Whenever Ashley could call, she was saying one word or two, something, but to the nervous Ray, she didn't hear anything at all about what she was saying.

(It's more awesome than I thought... now if I see Ash's father...)

At the far back of the building, just opposite the gate, was a fairly large room - large enough to connect two school classrooms.

When I went inside, my great husband, nearly two meters tall, was royal.

The face is covered with a mustache, and the slightly reddish hair like copper wire is beginning to be noticeable with gray hair, but sharp eyes and scratches everywhere add even more awesomeness.

Several mercenaries stood behind him, but the overwhelming presence of that great man never made Ray see the mercenaries behind him.

(What, this presence... you haven't seen me, but overwhelming pressure... this is Ash's father...)

The great, Hamish Markat, spoke to Ashley.

"Ash, are you finally home? Why don't you live alone? Did you get a little stronger?

"I'm back now. Commander (...). I apologize for flying out on my own"

Ashley bows her head deeply.

(Ash, could she be a runaway daughter? I call my own father the head of the regiment, and the parent-child relationship isn't working?

Hamish, glancing at Ashley, suddenly turned his gaze to Ray. Ray feels physical force in the gaze directed at him and is about to retreat.

"Les, it's Ray Arklight. Ash's, I'm your daughter's partner..."

Hamish stares and groans, "If it's Ash... he says he's a partner".

(Shit! I was going to say Mr. Ashley's mercenary buddy... it's a suicide bomber...)

"It's Hamish. It's Hamish Markat, Ashley's father. Are the guests mercenaries?

frightened by Hamish's cracked bell-like voice,

"Yes, we also do mercenaries. I just recently went up, but for once, I'm a Class V mercenary..."

Ray can't see Hamish's face from the front, and gradually he whispers.

Around, he said, "You think it's grade five? Is that true?," the grunt spread, "You're pretty young," etc., but when Hamish glanced, the place quieted at once.

"That's a brilliant weapon. Where are you from?

Ashley pinched her mouth as Ray tried to answer Hamish's question.

"Captain, will you excuse me later? Ray is the benefactor of my life. And I've been helped three times."

Hamish talks to Ray again after watching Ashley say "ho".

"My arms seem to be there, but I don't think they're arms enough to save my daughter's life. Ash must have been alarmed or his arm dull."

Ashley bites the word.

"The first time was a betrayal of a mercenary (...) who was supposed to be one of us. There are also fifteen mercenaries officially dispatched by the Alliance. The second time, Hydra and I fought each other, and he took me back to the city carrying me alone when I was hit by poison. The third time he fought a serpent, he was attacked by an assassin. And you cut your own life, and you helped me. Does the captain (...) disparage that ray! You mean my arm's dull!

Hamish didn't even put Ashley's anger on his teeth,

"I should have taught you. Survival is the mercenary. I didn't know I couldn't even give up my skill... but I have to work it out."

Ray didn't really understand the relationship between the two of them and kept quiet. But as Hamish put it, I'm going to make you get angry.

"Ash fought so hard to help me. The result just so happens to be that I'm going to help."

"Try to help, you say you've been helped? Is it not the end of the fall, such as taking care of your people?"

To that word, Ray's anger explodes.

"Is trying to help reprehensible! If you're a mercenary, you're telling me to survive, even at the expense of my people's lives! If mercenaries are such a bunch of them, I'm quitting mercenaries! Ash, we're leaving!

Leaving Ray to his wrath, he said so to Hamish, taking Ashley's arm and trying to get out of the room.

Hamish's well-sounding low voice hits Ray in the back.

"Wait, I'll have my daughter left. I have to work out again."

Ray looked back, with an even more murderous low voice,

"Don't listen to me. I heard words. You say it's mercenaries who survive abandoning their people. You can think of that as a word directed at us Mercenaries."

Ray's back pops in that murderous voice. But squeeze your courage,

"If you don't withdraw your outrage against Ash, you can take it that way!

I managed to squeeze out the words as I squeezed all of my strength and stared Hamish in the eye.

"Let's be good. Let me show you the rationale."

Hamish, after a fierce grin, said, "We're going to the courtyard! scream."

In that word, the mercenaries said, "Wow!" "I was responding.

Hamish Markat was relieved by his safe appearance when he saw his beloved daughter, who had not returned in a long time.

(Have you returned safely... you've gotten a little better at it...)

And he was smiling bitterly in his heart when he saw one man behind him, a young man wearing white armor and holding a spear in his hand that he could see at a glance as an industry.

(Has Ash finally brought a man too... sounds like a good man... but who's the beast man's daughter behind him?

Doubts swell about the young daughter of a werewolf beast man, her daughter, dressed in leather armor and glancing around without alarm.

(That leg, that setup that seems to be able to kill people instantly while suppressing homicide, whenever the homicide against that man flies, the sharpness of the survey that stares in that direction, with that youthfulness... not only... but also the eyes that look at that man... can't that bastard be satisfied with just our Ash? Nice work...)

Hamish said, "Ash, are you finally home? Why don't you live alone? Did you get a little stronger?," he was beginning to talk about something different from his own thoughts.

(Damn it! I'm not trying to say that!

And my heart is even more disturbed by the response of my relative daughter.

Staring at the man who seemed to be the cause of his frustration, the man was starting to talk in a frightened, laid-back manner.

"Les, it's Ray Arklight. Ash's, I'm your daughter's partner..."

Hamish stared at the man, Ray, in that frightened manner.

(What the hell is this guy! Ash brought him in, so I thought he was a bit of a bone guy... but Yu Man fooled you?

And we exchange words or two.

(Grade 5! Younger than Ash. Isn't that twenty? So the fifth grade...)

And when he saw Ashley pinch his mouth, he was saying words backwards from the thought.

"My arms seem to be there, but I don't think they're arms enough to save my daughter's life. Ash must have been alarmed or his arm dull."

Ashley's anger explodes,

(The two of us say it's a snake dragon on hydra... even our deputy captain class is tough... do something unscrupulous)

"I should have taught you. Survival is the mercenary. I didn't know I couldn't even give up my skill... but I have to work it out."

Hamish was meant to be like that caring for his impotent daughter, but a man called Ray has hit the word with anger.

"Is trying to help reprehensible! If you're a mercenary, you're telling me to survive, even at the expense of my people's lives! If mercenaries are such a bunch of them, I'm quitting mercenaries! Ash, we're leaving!

(Well, I didn't know you'd give me an opinion... you seem to have a little bone)

Hamish becomes murderous in his words as he squeezes the look on his face that he is likely to fall for.

"Don't listen to me. I heard words. You say it's mercenaries who survive abandoning their people. You can think of that as a word directed at us Mercenaries."

"If you don't withdraw your outrage against Ash, you can take it that way!

I was impressed with Ray's appearance of not pulling a single step and not taking his gaze off my own eyes.

(I didn't know you could keep looking me in the eye... funny. Ash also brought a funny man. Let me entertain you)

"Let's be good. Let me show you the rationale."

Hamish was looking forward to seeing how much of a man he said Ray was.
