Lesson 23: Training

Back at HQ, the Rays decided to grab lunch in a nearby dining room and attend the afternoon training.

"By the way, where are you doing your training? In the city?

"No, there's the Ginac River ahead of you out of the city's south gate. The river plains are a training ground."

To the south of Fonce is a river called the Ginac River, which uses Lake Ginac as a source of water.

The river itself does not have that much water, but when it rains heavily, the river bed itself is quite wide because the surrounding water flows in.

Sometimes used for grazing, fields, etc., but stoney places are not suitable for farmland, so they are abandoned and used as training grounds for knights and mercenaries.

The training ground assigned to the Mercenary Corps of Markat is about 3 km south of the South Gate. The three head there with horses.

Sometimes at noon, the streets were relatively empty and the three of them let the horses run.

Ray leaves Ashley and Stella behind and drives his horse free. And in my head, I was thinking of the name of my beloved horse.

(You were right to choose this horse. He's smart and powerful. Let's think of a name... Speaking of reeded military horses, you're General Lee's ”traveler"... he's one of those people I'm going to be traveling with, and he's cheap, but let's be a traveler. I didn't think I'd give this name to my own horse)

Ray used to surf the internet to look for stories to write his novel. And because I also had a good collection of information on war relations from ancient times to recent times, I knew about the famous horse of the Civil War general, General Robert E. Lee, and I was going to use that name for a horse that would one day come to my novel.

I didn't fly that much, but sometimes it's only three kilometers, and I can see the training ground right away.

There seemed to be other units training in the Fifth Squad, with nearly fifty mercenaries running around the river plains.

As we got closer, we saw the Zenga giant and found that Squad Two was training.

There is also a small stable, where when the horses are released, the three turn to Valeria, the captain, to report their arrival.

"Three below Ashley Marcutt. I would like to participate in the training!

Valeria stared at Giroli,

"Thank you, just tour there!

The training is squadron - one spot for five and a squad for five is the standard organization of the Mercenary Corps of Markat. However, it is rare that a squad meets its capacity - every single squad carries out mock warfare in two squads or trains to replace the formation.

Ray had no idea what he was doing and had asked Ashley to explain.

"The five of us make one squad. It moves from squad to squad, but there's a mock fight where one squad can be attacked by two squads. Beyond that is training for flying gear. Avoid arrows with a shield, but use a shield to approach them. Beyond..."

(Do I do this? First of all, if you don't remember what to do, you can't work together. Five of us, one squad, that means two of us? Or will they fall apart? ……

He couldn't hide his confusion in a fiercely difficult training more than he thought.

I watched it for about twenty minutes, but I had no idea how to move.

When Valeria hangs the decree of rest, the mercenaries sit down on the spot.

(Wow, they all sat up. Is that all you mean by rigorous training?

Valeria approached the three of them,

"It's like face-to-face today. The three have a mock fight. Norma, Hal! Get over here!

Yesterday, Hal, a young human man - a swordsman with a long sword and a shield - and Norma, a human woman in her mid-twenties - a spear with a shorter spear - came running.

"Good luck. You two squad with the Ashes. After this, it's a mock fight with my squad. You got it."

"" Yes, I will squad with Lord Ashley for a mock fight!

The two recitations went hand in hand with Pittari.

The Rays took a nearby training weapon and joined Norma and Hull.

"Nice to meet you. This is Ray and Stella's first training in particular. I'll give you directions on the move, okay?

"" Yes!

"Ray, Stella. Move on my instructions. The formation is me in the center, Hull next to the left, Ray to the left, Norma to the right, Stella turn behind the opponent at my signal. Norma and Hal can work with me. Ray, you don't have to think about working together. Target the person in front of you. Stella, this isn't about killing each other. No swords thrown..."

Ashley gives instructions one after the other.

(After all, she's a mercenary's daughter. The instructions given are accurate. Mr. Valeria said it was a fourth grade. If you do it normally, I know you're going to lose a borough. I just have to see how far I can go)

"Ray, don't go with the intention of losing. We're going to win."

"What? You can't do that, can you? Mr. Valeria, no, he's the captain."

"Can you pick your opponent on the battlefield? If there are five strong opponents of any kind, we can fight them. Well, as long as there's a difference in power as your father does, I can't. That's more of a mindset issue than that. If you think you're gonna lose from the start, you're gonna lose."

"Ri, roger. I'll do my best."

to confused Ray, while Hal nicked,

"Mr. Ray, if you say you're going to do everything you can, leave the magic alone. If they use the magic that beats the captain, it won't be training."

Ashley and Norma laughed and Ray was caught laughing too.

(I'm a little nervous. Is Hal a moodmaker?... All right! Now we can do everything we can......)

After a ten-minute break, Valeria gives new instructions.

And Rays' squad and Valeria's squad crossed each other about ten meters away.

"Ash, I'm going without help. Let me show you how much arm you've got. Ray, you can use magic. Well, if you can use it."

The simulated battle begins on Valeria's signal.

Valeria's squad is a two-handed sword Valeria in the center, Dougal using a one-handed sword next to her left, another female swordsman using a one-handed sword next to her right, and the other two are both male masterminds, who seem to be going to step back slightly and attack from between the avant-gardes.

Ashley looked at Ray confused by Valeria's words,

"Ray, don't get on the provocation. No magic. You can win without it! Let's go!"

Intercept the Valerias coming at Ashley's signal.

Ashley told Ray and Hull, "You two crush the captain's right next door!," he ordered, and began to slaughter Valeria.

Like Ashley's sword, Valeria's sword is a rigid sword type that harnesses its power, and whenever the two wooden swords meet, the high sound of a wooden hard khan echoes into the river plains.

Norma desperately rolls out his spear as he approaches his deputy Dougal, who stands in the front.

Ray doesn't think about working with Hal and tries to get out further to the right side of the female swordsman in front, but he can't get around well because of the spear rolled out by the swordsman who was behind him.

(If you can't move freely, it's so hard to fight. Then I'll smash it from the front!

Ray gave up turning around and told Hal, "Don't let me use your shield!," he exclaims, rolling out his thrust in a row.

Without rushing, the female swordsman shook Ray's thrust with his sword and shield, but when Hull's attack was added, he was gradually pushed back into the mood.

Ray comes forward to fit the move, but it was their trap.

When he comes forward, two spears roll out from both sides of the female swordsman. Adding to the swordsman's attack, Ray regretted coming forward too far, but was desperate to attack and forced into a situation where he couldn't even pull.

(They did it! There's Hal in the back. I just have to deviate to the left, but the enemy should be aware of that too... one or eight, come forward...)

Stella ran through his left side during the moment Ray was thinking so.

Stella turns straight behind the swordsman as he engages.

The targeted magician was rolling his spear out of a narrow gap, so he couldn't pull it back right away. In an attempt to retrieve the spear, Stella's wooden sword forcefully struck the magician's arm.

Struck against his arm, the magician removes the spear and falls back.

Stella was still going around back, trying to target Valeria.

Ashley and Valeria were meeting wooden swords in the center.

(Looks like Ash is getting a little stronger too. There are more cuts than before. But that's all. ten years early to counter me)

Ashley was also aware of her limitations.

(Sister Val is still strong. I can't find a gap. Hope is Stella's move, but suddenly expectations will be thin in mock warfare)

Valeria tried to come forward to decide the battle at once. That's when the sound of removing the spear next to my right went into my ear.

(What? Stella... that's awkward. Expect Dougal and we'll have to go defeat Ash...)

When Stella saw Ashley being pressed, she circled behind Valeria, but where she appeared from, she was held back from her hand going to Dougal's sword.

(This guy is strong too. If I can use a throwing sword, I can handle it...)

Stella has been forced to take a ride with a strong enemy.

Dougal saw Stella turn around behind him and thought he had no choice but to respond.

(Push in the norm once. If we fall back into that gap, we can handle it behind us. The captain won't let it slip through the side easily)

He mounts an offensive all at once on the norm in front of him, stopping her legs. Again, he backed off at once, ignoring the norm that stood when the offense came.

Norma gives the look that he's been hit, but he can't even go right past Valeria, and he went on a roundabout with Ashley whether to attack Valeria or bypass and chase Dougal. That moment of patrol determined the victory or loss of this simulated battle.

Valeria pours down the slaughter from the upper level like rain to determine her battle with Ashley.

Ashley can read Valeria's intentions but does not think of effective countermeasures and turns to the rear. And when I hit the first few attacks, I immediately reached my limit.

She had taken Valeria's relentless blow in her arms and had her sword removed.

Ray is courageous that Stella defeated one of the magicians, and Hal and I go on offense at once.

Hal was following Ray's instructions and striving for his defense and restraint on the female swordsman.

Ray finds a slight gap, points to the swordsman's side, and sticks the spear.

The thrust hit the armor's connections, and she held down her side and fell.

(Okay, I can go!

When Ray thought so, Hal, who was beside him, was bounced off his shield, and the next moment, he blew it behind him.

Before him was the figure of Valeria, who defeated Ashley and Norma.

(It's just Stella and me... awkward...)

Stella was in a meeting with Dougal, but she is sliding into a relaxed, defensive deputy captain.

(Master Ashley has already lost. Lady Ray... I don't know what the situation is... once, we should get the distance, but it's difficult...)

At that time, Ray was desperately attacking Valeria and another magician.

(Mr. Valeria's attack is tough. I'm trying to keep you away from me with a spear, but that's a limit, too. This spear man is depressing. If we don't take this one down first, we'll be totally cornered... we don't have to worry about collaboration anymore, we'll have to move freely and choke)

He manages to play Valeria's sharp slaughter with a spear, and takes the spear that has been rolled out by poking that gap with his thick chest armor. Then he jumped back as if he'd been thrust with a spear and stopped a few more meters backwards.

He grinned niggardly, releasing his left hand from the spear, and protruding towards the Valerians.

"Magic! Hurry!"

Valeria was slightly anxious, thinking Ray would use magic. And he packed the distance at once with the magician beside him.

Ray shouted ”Hang on!" in his heart, immediately putting his left hand back and rolling out a spear towards the magician.

The magician, wary of magic, delayed his reaction to the sudden change of circumstances, eating Ray's rolling thrust into his abdomen and falling.

"Don't do it, Ray! I didn't know it would cast magic on you. But it won't work again!

Valeria licks Peroli's lips, grinning and slashing at Ray.

He is pushed gradually by the rain showers and pouring slaughter, the same as what Ashley received.

(Fast and heavy. I can't take it... I don't even think my feint will work, and what do I do?

Hunted down, he jumps to the right in agony to escape her slaughter.

Valeria was waiting for the move.

(Sweet! That's what I've been waiting for...)

She had read that Ray would try to escape into misery. Shortly after he jumped to the right, he slapped his sword on that defenseless left arm.

With Ray's scream of "gua!" he was being slapped to the ground.

(Ouch! What happened? What happened? I had no idea......)

Valeria looked down with a winner's grin as she held down her left arm and stunned him.

"If you run into misery, you'll always have a gap. If you want to escape, you should attack instead."

Ray hung the magic of healing on his arm before slowly rising.
