Lesson 45: The Sorcerer of the Court

Upon returning to the mercenary regiment's headquarters in a sinking atmosphere, the captain, Valeria, contacted me to call Ray.

"Tomorrow, the captain of the regiment is going to let me see a normal (...) sorcerer. Sure, you said Lord Elmer Anekis, the court magician..."

Ray can be told by Valeria that tomorrow at 10: 00 a.m., he is going with Hamish to the Tower of Mages in the Royal Palace.

On my way back to my room, I was thinking about tomorrow's visit to the Sorcerer's Tower.

(The magician's tower? Finally, I feel like I'm in full fantasy. The sorcerer I've ever met was a healer or a light god cleric... speaking of which, the sorcerer's portrayal of my novel was like wearing a long robe and holding a wand that was a magic prop. And since I was a little girl, I trained hard, and at about thirty, I finally serve one. I also remember setting the training venue to be the magician's tower in various countries...)

When I told Ashley about it,

"Master Annekis... I didn't like it"

"It is. By the way, have you ever been to a magician's tower?

"No, because even when I went to the royal palace, I was in the knights' quarters, I... Thanks, it smells like a stink over there..."

(Hi, you're exactly what I imagined. If that's the case, you better stay out of it than you need to, because you have a strong electorate. If I only asked what I wanted to know, I'd decide to disperse early......)

July 12th the following day.

Stella has remained depressed since yesterday, with fewer words than usual.

Ray asked Ashley about her and headed to Hamish's room.

(You didn't think I'd be that depressed. But I need to think for myself. That shouldn't be wrong. And then how far can we follow...)

Join Hamish and head to the royal palace.

"As Valeria tells me, it is the court magician, Lord Elmer Anekis, who we meet today. We've fought together before in a massive demon crusade. There are some things that are a little difficult to attach, but I'm not a difficult person. So don't get too nervous."

Walk through the city in the summer sun.

They're not in their usual armor, they're just wearing a little bit of superior clothing.

Hamish carries his favorite two-handed sword, but Ray just hung a long sword on his hips and didn't have the holy spear Album Corne in his hand. Just in case, I put it in the item box with storage magic.

The main entrance to the Royal Palace is directly west of the Fountain Square in the center of the city.

The road that connects the square to the main entrance is used for parades and so on, and the building, which stands on both sides of the road, is splendid in stone and contains luxury shops for royalty and nobility opponents.

(It's not like a commercial district store. I feel like a luxury store. Is there a brand thing or something in this world?

Regards, Ray follows Hamish as he looks around.

Approaching the main gate, a royal castle was seen in the front, and the walls and huge gates surrounded by moats entered his eyes.

(Even though Fonce itself is a castle fort city, the Royal Palace is even more of a castle. Was it possible to be a battlefield back in the day?

When you get to the main gate, Hamish takes out the orb and shows it to the soldiers guarding the gate.

Ray shows the orb in the same way and creeps through the main entrance.

(Mr. Hamish, but can't you go for a face pass? Well, it's a mercenary, or something like that...)

Ray is mistaken, but to enter Fonce's royal castle, even though the royal family will need an orb. This is the law that was laid down when the civil unrest broke out, with the addition of the sentence: "It will not come true to knock through the gates of the royal castle without confirmation of several (...), and even though the royal family, and hence the king, will not be allowed to knock through the gates of the castle without confirmation.

Some kings tried to change this law, but as long as the current royal family, the Braeval family, is royal, it is considered unacceptable to change it, and it has not yet been able to do so.

As you creep through the main entrance, you can see the beautiful royal castle with plenty of white stones at the front.

It was a five-story building with many spires protruding, all with exquisite sculptures on the windows, and many less popular glass in this world.

(You feel like a castle in White Asia. There's a fountain in the garden, or maybe even the name Swan Castle)

The garden is made of flower beds with lawns laid down and colorful flowers blooming.

By the way, Shi 'a "Azuma Ya" is made, so that park games and so on can be held.

Hamish enters the trail towards the north side of the garden.

Ray was distracted around and was about to be left, but he definitely followed behind Hamish to avoid getting lost.

On the north side of the royal castle, there is a somewhat boneless building, visible as a knight.

(Is that the Knights of the Springs building over there? And it's huge, this castle...)

Looking at the knights, they pass beside that building and head west.

Just reached the back of the royal castle, where there was an elongated building about four floors, a little shorter than the castle.

"This is the magician's tower. I can't say it out loud, but there are a lot of freaks here. Don't make a problem."

Ray replied "Roger,"

(freak? Was Mr. Hamish's mouth count less than usual because he was a little nervous?

When you reach the entrance to the magician's tower, the door opens even though you haven't given a signal.

Ray is impressed with whether there is an automatic door, but when he looked at the door, the chain stretched toward the second floor, hard to tell, but there was something like a watchroom with a small window.

(If I can keep an eye on him upstairs and confirm that he's the one who had the application, I guess he's opening it manually. If you look at automatic doors for the first time, most people will be surprised, so they won't even notice the tease. “That's the magician's tower” and planting awe, I guess it's just the right trick. But for a wizard's nest, I don't think so...)

Hamish keeps going inside and climbs the stairs.

Hamish remembered the first time he saw the entrance door and was thinking about Ray, who was flat without raising his voice of surprise.

(I'm not even surprised by that door. Is Ray's liver sitting or does he take it for granted... I don't know who he is anymore...)

I went up to the third floor and arrived in front of the desired room.

"Lord Annekis, it's Hamish Markat."

When Hamish screams like that in front of the door, the door opens quietly.

Because there are no windows in the room, it is dim inside and there are a number of magic items lit with lights.

Lord Markat, you've come a long way.

Elmer Annakes, a skinny magician about fifty years old wrapped around a robe, invites them inside.

Ray takes an interesting look at the magician's room.

There was one young man in the back who looked like an assistant, but a guest came down from the room.

In Ray's eyes, the scenery often seen in movies, cartoons, etc., was visible.

A bookshelf lined with parchment books that appeared to be magic books, a shelf lined with small pieces, a large pot hung on the kamado, and a table lined with bones, scales, ore, etc. were in front of him.

(You have a whole book that looks like a magic book. And it stinks of herbs, and that big pot, what do you use it for? Is this some kind of bone... it feels like a magician's room...)

Hamish's greeting was over, and Annekis was watching Ray.

"Lord Markat, what about this one?

"Oh, this is Ray Arklight. Just think of me as someone like my daughter's fiancée."

(Ash's fiancée... I can't say she isn't... but you still don't feel it. I can't tell Ash or Mr. Hamish this, though)

When Ray bows his head and says hello, Anaekis takes a glance at him and then immediately gets to work on the matter.

"The letter asked Lord Arklight to teach you about magic. I heard Lord Arklight was a healer, but do you know what his attributes are?

Ray mouths a pre-thought answer.

"It's the four attributes of light, wind, tree and water"

(When you say "all attributes," you know it's all attributes, so why are you here to ask? Besides, it should be uncommon to use all attributes. Then it would be safer to keep it in four attributes)

"Hmm, is that a four attribute..."

(Four attributes... There are only a few of us who can manipulate four attributes. This combination is the most common to the Saint Knight of Lukes......)

Anekis mouths as he contemplates.

(I wonder if the four attributes were awkward. But I won't reduce it any more...)

"From Lord Markat, I thought I'd lost my memory, but I guess that's true. From what I've looked into, make him a well-armed healer, magical handler of arrows of light. Plus the sword has a pretty good spear. This is nothing more than the hallmark of Luke's Holy Knight...... how about it?

(I didn't know when I wrote the letter, but I didn't know you were already investigating it... that's something like a magician's tower...)

I'm surprised it's being looked into beforehand, but I'll switch my head immediately and answer as usual.

"I'm sorry, but I really don't remember. You can't deny that you're not the Saint Knight of Lukes. But now I live as a mercenary, an adventurer. And we don't want to be involved with light theism."

(If Lord Arklight is the Holy Knight, even putting him in the Tower of Our Mage would be a violation of policy. But I don't even think there is such a young man in the Holy Knight, that gathering of authoritarians. Pretty handsome, assuming you were there. You don't even think I'd put you out of the country for intelligence... what should I do?)

When Anaekis reconsiders, Hamish starts talking.

"Is this guy's past the problem? Even if you were Luke's Holy Knight, it would be nice to talk about it and have some basics. A holy knight is enough for anyone to know, Ray."

"Yes, I can use healing magic, arrows of light, but I don't really know how. Because when you put an image in your head, you can use magic. Really basic is enough. Could you tell me"

Anekis looks up and loosens his expression slightly.

"You have a point in Lord Markat's words. I don't teach you the secrets of our country. I see, maybe this hangs up and brings back memories. Good, what would you like to hear?

Ray asked about the theory of magic, the relationship between the need for spells and power, compound magic, etc.
