Trinitas Mundus

Episode Fifty: Funding

The Fifth Squad, to which the Rays belonged, had completed their escort assignment two days earlier and had spent five days off relaxing.

Dinner time was close, and they were back in their rooms, but suddenly, Alberic contacted them about the convocation.

The three head to the chief's office, wondering what they have.

There, Alberic, the deputy secretary, and Valeria Harvey, captain of the Fifth Squad, were waiting.

"I've only told the captains, but I've got some information from Turok that there's little delay at this time of year, and that there's a delay in regular communication. I don't know any details yet, but I think the Knights have decided that the Demons could invade."

The three of them are surprised by the story, but they can't see why they were called.

"So the Knights decided to put a battalion ahead of them. That's what that Third Battalion is. This is the king's life. The Knights Commander had to obey and asked the Mercenary Alliance and the Mercenary Corps (of which) to join him as a prostitute."

Ray somehow figured out why and nodded.

(I see. Because of my life, I can't increase the Knights unless things change. But it's no problem for a prostitute to arrive on his own. Is that what you mean? But how does that involve us?

"So this time, the Mercenary Corps of Markat (of which) decided to include all the squadrons. So, it's the Ashes, but the three of them aren't formal members, so there's no need to join them, so don't be forced to join them, Hamish said. I wanted to tell you that."

"My father... but, Brother Al, then..."

It blocks Ashley's words and Alberic starts talking in strong shape.

"Listen carefully, Ash. It's very dangerous this time. Hamish's idea is, if it's really a demonic invasion, half can't come home alive. Worst case scenario, it's all gone. So you don't have to put your lives on the line even if you're not a full member. Think about how Hamish feels. I don't want my lovely only daughter to die."

Ashley complains of the words.

"Well, we haven't figured out the enemy's power yet, so if you go, there might be a hundred orcs, and you won't always win Hamish's guess."

Ray looked at Ashley's face, which was pale,

"Is that an order? We're not allowed to participate."

"Right. That would be your order as a Mercenary Corps."

"Okay. Let me think. Is that all we're talking about?

As Alberic nodded, Ray urged Ashley to leave the captain's office.

The remaining Alberic and Valeria were staring at the door where the three of them left off.

"Is that good, Brother Al?

"I don't have a choice. I said I should have you, Ray. Hamish thought he was going to die because he couldn't. Even if Ash protects himself, Ray, in your case, he doesn't know what he's going to do. By the way, Ray, what do you think would happen to Ash if you died?

To that question, Valeria looks strange.

"Well... maybe we won't be using it for a month. But he's also a mercenary, so I think that's how long he'll be back on his feet."

"Valeria is, Abby - Abby Marcut. Make it Hamish's wife and mercenary. Eighteen years ago, he died in battle with the Demons - because he doesn't know what happened when he died. Hamish was terrible back then. My beloved own wife is killed in front of me. It also tried to protect itself...... drowned in booze the first month. For the next six months, you've been solo and dangerous requests all the time. You were willing to die, maybe. Me and Duke couldn't help it. I guess you don't want that thought ashed, as for Hamish."

Valeria was not convinced as a veteran mercenary, but when she thought of Ashley admiring herself like a sister, she didn't know how Hamish felt.

Still, stuck in the alberic.

"But I need you, Ray. I wonder if that magic, yeah, that kid's strategic eye, that head is absolutely necessary. For Ash's sake, it doesn't seem like a captain to sacrifice his people. I'm sorry, but I will solicit her on my own."

"Do you mind? If you do that, Hamish will hate you."

Valeria, without being frightened,

"Fine. If you're such a captain, wish here."

"Then you can do whatever you want. I want you to stay, too, Ray."

Valeria bowed her head gently to Alberic and left the room.

(Really Hamish, when it comes to Ash, people change, right? But if Ash dies, Hamish could break. If you think about it, not taking the three of you might be the right choice......)

The Rays, who left the captain's office, had a discussion in Ashley's room.

"What do you want Ash to do?

Ask Ray in a quiet tone, Ashley answers with a firm tone.

"I am also a mercenary of the Mercenary Corps of Markat. Of course, I'll join you."

"But I won't tolerate Mr. Hamish. Still going?

"Oh, what's Ray gonna do? What's Stella going to do, too?

Stella doesn't even show a bare gesture of thinking in particular, and nods immediately.

"I'm Ray, and if Ashley joins us, I'll be with you."

Ray also seemed to have decided the answer, without thinking, and expressed his will to participate.

"I'm in. I can't believe I'm holding my finger in Wang Du even though my people might die. Besides, my magic is powerful enough. [M] I think it's more than just a few archers, even if we don't have all the favorable conditions like before."

Ashley listened to Ray,

"Didn't I tell you to let my brother think?

"That's right. He wants me to think about how to participate."

Ashley became powerless,

"I thought you were following your father's orders. Sorry......"

"I don't think you have anything to apologize for? Yeah, but if I don't tell you, it's gonna be grand, and when Mr. Hamish gets back, he's gonna yell at you."

And add jokingly.

"Mr. Hamish gets angry differently when it comes to Ash. Because I'm afraid I'm not going to join you."

Ashley laughed at the words and soon became a serious look.

"Seriously, Father's account wins. It would be overwhelmingly unfavourable at war. Ray, you got any good ideas?"

"Even if they say so suddenly. At least I think that will change how much power we have over here and the extent to which the mercenary side can be involved in the operation..."

"Right. Exactly. You can't do that."

Ray was instantly sentenced to take part in an operation where he might die, but he was not feeling wonder and fear.

(I wonder why not. Mr. Hamish is in danger of being wiped out. I don't know if I can survive, and I have a good chance of getting hurt. But I felt like I had to join in wonders. I wonder what novel it was. Soldiers don't fight for ideals and doctrines, they fight for their comrades. I feel like I know now. Mr Hamish, Mr Alberic, Mr Valeria, Mr Renzi, Mr Hal, the rest of us...... I can't help but say that these people may die, but they are where they are safe. I think it's a choice I would never have picked six months ago if I were you......)

When Valeria came to the Rays, when she pushed them, she had already decided to join in and took control of Valeria trying to say something, and Ashley started talking.

"I know what Sister Val is trying to say. Me and Ray are gonna be in this fight, no matter what. Getting weird between your father and Sister Val involves everyone in Squad Five. So I want you to leave it to us without saying anything. Val, my sister wants you to think about everyone."

(Oh, Ash's really grown up, too. Or maybe Ray convinced you to? Well fine, if these kids say they're gonna do it, they're gonna do it... I guess I'm old enough to be preached by Ash too)

"Okay. I won't say anything now. But be sure to come, the three of you."

When I said that, I waved in my usual light condition and left the room.

Hamish and guild leader Duke returned from Knights headquarters and began discussing future policies.

"First of all, that's gold. What are we gonna do with this?

To Duke's inquiry, Hamish becomes a sinister face.

"Right...... I just have to talk to Lord Braveburn. I don't have that kind of wisdom."

Duke nodded reluctantly at the words, telling him to call Ray.

"Oh man, call Ray. He'd give you some good wisdom."

Hamish said, "He won't let me take part in this operation. outsiders," he says with a flashy look.

"I won't join you. But you can let me give you as much wisdom as you want. If you don't call me, I'll call the Alliance later."

Hamish is likely to grasp the momentum, staring at Duke, but rooting for Duke, who doesn't listen hard, and calling Ray.

"Ray, you've heard from Al. Give me a little wisdom."

Ray nods small and waits for the story to continue.

"We're talking about money. This time, I hardly get out of the Knights. This is all dangerous work. There will be 50C (krona) a day in the fifth grade to hire mercenaries. At least three hundred, if possible five hundred. That alone is between 15,000 and 25,000 a day. That's at least a month. 450,000 to 750,000. It's hard to collect all that money."

Ray wanted to say that he would have trouble being consulted like that, but because of the troubled Hamish, he desperately thinks about helping at all.

(Who will lose money in this demonic raid?... it's the inhabitants of Pioneering Village who lose money. Others will have trouble if Bridgend residents are destroyed as well. But these people don't have that kind of money... then who gets the money?... Is it the merchants who sell munitions that gain... The more the Bridgand merchants make money the longer the Expeditionary Army grows if the city is not destroyed too. But the merchants should also want to keep Bridgens dead because if they drop Bridgens, they'll run out of places to transport supplies. Wait, my suggestion in the first place should be that supplies are stockpiling quite a bit in Bridgend. If that makes you a pa...... can't you aim there......)

"Can I ask you one thing? Does a commercial guild, like a mercenary guild, listen to directions from the headquarters of the king's capital or from the general headquarters of Aurelia?

Both Hamish and Duke are suddenly surprised to talk about a commercial guild, but Hamish answers his question.

"You'll hear it to some extent. But commercial guilds don't pay for war."

Ray smiles a little, to the answer as expected.

"I guess so. But if you're going to make money, or if you can avoid losses, why don't you give them money? Who, by the way, is the person who most influences Fonce's commercial guild, the person who is gaining power from his commercial guild?

With the face of why Hamish asks that,

"You're the Duke of Inverhollow. I'm getting support from the guild, and it's like a spokesperson sheltering them. But there's no money in this operation."

"This operation, in the opinion of the Commander, is likely to fail, isn't it? If you let me use this, I think you'll get the money out of your commercial guild."

The two look surprised and look at each other.

"The merchants will make money if the battle prolongs, with the Knights out. But if you lose too unilaterally, the bridge that accumulates munitions falls. There are supplies in the Bridges, so damaged merchants, especially those in the Bridges, will be desperate. Fonce merchants will spend more on escorts because if they are plucked out of the bridge, they will unleash demons on the streets, which are trade roads. I'm sure they both want Bridgend dead."

The two veterans desperately think of what the merchants think.

"So I'm going to make a big announcement that the captain of the regiment is not Churock,“ because Bridgend is in danger, we're going to form a brave army. ”If those (...) red-armed Hamish knew they were in crisis, the merchants wouldn't be at peace either."

Duke looked surprised,

"That's as far as Non can tell. But I heard about the Duke of Inverhollow. What does that have to do with anything? I don't know where it is."

Ray turns to Hamish, looks sorry and keeps talking.

"The captain will be the bad guy. It was the Knights Commander, or the former Commander, uh, the Duke of Braveburn, and I ask that person to breathe this into the Duke of Inverhollow.“ Hamish Markat denies His Majesty's thoughts. He calls that the Third Battalion alone may fall as far as Bridgand ”. What will the Duke of Inverhollow do when he hears this?

Duke surrenders, "I have no idea," in the pose that he is doing well.

"Nor would the Duke of Inverhollow be genuine, as it would weaken the source of his power for the merchants to lose money. So why don't you tell the commercial guild to hit something? In that case, I think I'll have to give money to the brave army. Well, this involves the extent to which the Duke of Inverhollow has power over commercial guilds."

Hamish and Duke were both meditating on their eyes and thinking about Ray's story now.

Hamish, who slowly opened his eyes, was asking Duke.

"Duke, what do you think of the story now?

Duke remained silent for about a few seconds before

"It'll probably work. Even if it doesn't work, it won't hurt us. You've never complained about your majesty before, but you're going to criticize your majesty. Your reputation will be damaged. But that's all."

"I don't care about me. But does that really work?

"Oh, the terrible thing about Ray (this guy) 's measures is that they make merchants think about two losses. The first is that Bridgend supplies will be wasted, and the second is that if Bridgend is pulled out, then the money will be less"

Hamish doesn't know one thing about merchant psychology right now,

"But that's all the merchants do? I don't know where it is."

"This guy understands the merchants' habits very well. Rumors of the city and the words of the powerful. Those guys are sensitive to these two. Hamish, if you make a big announcement, the rumors of the city will come true. Furthermore, the Duke immediately told me that the Royal Palace is also interested. Otherwise, I'll come up with the rest as soon as I get more money out to the brave men in law. If anybody starts moving, it's gonna work like an avalanche."

And looking at Ray's face,

"This time, I'm not convinced Hamish decided not to put you on the battlefield. But, Ray, it's too bad to let you die. So, this time, as a mercenary guild, I won't allow you three brave men to join me. This is a decision."

"No... I did go there and I don't think the war situation will change. But my people, my family's headed to the dead. Do you want me to look at that with my fingers in the safe capital of the king? If I go, I can work more than a court magician. That should be worth going to."

Ray desperately complains that way, but Duke shakes his neck sideways.

"Surely it would be easier on the ground to go. But you're in the back, and this time it's better to turn to cover. Enjoy it, Ray."

Ray wasn't convinced, but he reluctantly pulled back because he didn't think these two would overshadow what they said once.

(I need to figure out some way...)

Hamish, anxious, adds in a low voice how he thinks in silence.

"Tell you what, you can't go to the battlefield except for the Knights and the Prostitutes. If you get close, think you can be caught as an enemy. That's good."

Ray is allowed to leave and go back to his room.

(There must be some kind of hand. Other than the Knights and the Proselytizing Army... the Proselytizing Army can't. I can't even join the Knights now. Yeah? Do we really have to go in there? Should be even temporary......)

He turned to Ashley's room as he sorted out his thoughts.
