Lesson 54: The March

September 27th.

The city of Bridgand is contacted by an adventurer who went to Chulock for reconnaissance.

The hunters of Millice Village's shadows had cast a dark shadow on the city, which thrived in preparation for the festival.

Upon receiving the report of the demonic raid, the city's defense forces immediately drove a fast horse toward Fonce, the king's capital.

The story of the demonic invasion spreads instantly among the inhabitants who saw that early horse. And rumors spread that refugees from pioneering villages in the east, such as the villages of Millis and Bogby, were coming.

The city is no longer a festival, and the residents become seriously troubled by what they do with their evacuation.

The following, September 28th.

The Demonic Crusaders advance team leaves the city of Burnham and continues down the street at a slow pace, similar to yesterday.

As yesterday, when he entered the city of Corolt around 2 p.m., the captain, Arwell, left the Knights body and entered the city's finest lodging with his neighbors.

At the suggestion of Lieutenant Leland and Commander Hamish of the Proselytizing Army, a joint exercise was to take place, but one of Arwell's sides told him about it, who had already been drinking.

Having heard the story, he becomes as mad as a child when he is made excommunicated, causing the exercise to stop immediately.

Leland and Hamish despaired of his appearance, and then, as the day went on, the number of mouths went down.

An early horse who left Bridgand arrived in the city of Corolt late at night.

The report is immediately delivered to Arwell, the Third Battalion Commander, but he was not intoxicated and able to listen, even during the march.

Lieutenant Leland listens instead, and the next morning Arwell tells the story as well.

Arwell remains a head who does not work in deep alcohol and listens to reports of demonic raids. However, he gave no particular instructions on the grounds that there was no information such as the size of the enemy. And I didn't even increase my march speed.

Disgruntled voices were raised not only by the mercenaries in their response, but also from among the knights. In that context, not only was the captain unable to speak by booze, but rumors had also affected the appearance of a hooker in his room.

His neighbors tried to hide the fact, but the next day all the advance party was to know the fact because the preaching of the early horse left it to anger to smash the story there.

Not only Hamish, but Ray and Ashley, and even the usually cheerful Alberic, had a smaller mouth count, collided in trivial matters among the mercenaries, and had frequent fights.

As an army, it was in the worst possible condition and Leland and Hamish were desperately trying to improve this situation somehow.

October 1st.

That day was the autumn, and every year, the harvest festival to name the country was held, but here around Bridgend it was not the other way around, it was an exchange of anxiety and anxiety free, and it cast a dark shadow on the hearts of people.

The advance party, which is dominated by the third battalion of the Knights of the Springs, will continue eastward down the street to the city of Bridgens, but many carriages loaded with luggage will come from their front. As a result, the march speed did not increase more than usual.

Whether the carriage had the whole family in it or people of all ages, from the elderly to the toddler, all that face floated was a rush to escape uniformly and quickly.

There are instructions from the Knights to clear the way so as not to obstruct the advance of the advance party, but a carriage loaded with large baggage is hard to get off the road.

Third Battalion captain Arwell Kilgaroho saw how it went and went to eliminate the refugees himself.

"Do you guys know what kind of mission we're on?! We are demonic crusaders who have received more immediate lives than His Majesty in fear. Slash and throw away anything that stands in our way. Now, clear the way!

Ray, seeing how it was, was shaking in anger.

(Since I marched with Noronoro, I must have made contact with the evacuees! I can often say that to a people to protect! A country where a guy like this can be a commander is wrong. The chosen kings and the silently accepted dukes are all rotten!

He left it to his anger and tried to give Arwell his opinion.

But Hamish grabs his shoulder and shakes his head.

"Forget it now. If you can rub it here, it'll be even slower. We need to focus our efforts on successfully directing the refugees. You got it."

Ray looked at Hamish's lonely eyes and, even if he wasn't convinced, forced him to hold back his anger when it bothered them mercenaries if he exploded his anger here.

He will then be at the forefront with the mercenaries to focus on getting the residents' wagons to pull aside well.

(These people are the helpless victims of the exchangers. But we can still get away with it. I wonder what happened to the Turok and Millis people......)

Thanks to the mercenaries' efforts, the advance party arrived in the city of Bridgand at 3 p.m.

Take five days to get a hundred and seventy kilometers.

In Ray's eyes, I didn't think it was the same city that was busy at the Summer Solstice Festival three months ago.

(Everyone is scared. I guess the Demons are anxious to see when the demons will strike. At times like this, I guess the knights should be brave, but that guy won't be able to do it. You should talk to Mr. Hamish and Mr. Leland about starting tomorrow)

He headed out to Hamish, who camped outside the city.

Ashley was finally able to understand what his father was concerned about and what he wanted to keep himself in Fonce when he saw him that way.

(Your father was worried about Ray. He can't do it right away. I guess I'm going to go give my father some advice now. I can't imagine the content, but I should be trying to be where I'm most dangerous)

She turned to Stella,

"With that look, Ray must have come up with something. But now he always puts himself in danger. Stella, do whatever you can to protect him. I don't care about me, I need you to protect Ray from the man you love."

Stella was confused by the last word.

(Your beloved man...... you mean Master Ray? Do I love Master Ray? I don't know. But that one dies better... considering that, my chest hurts. Why...)

Stella nodded, only "OK," she said.

Ashley, who noticed the painful look on Stella's face that she showed only for a moment, had an accurate insight into the reasons for her confusion.

(Maybe Stella doesn't understand. That Ray could die... no. I guess I showed confusion at what they said I loved about Ray... what would happen to Stella if Ray was gone? No, what will happen to me, too? Can I stay alive then......)

Almost swallowed by the vortex of thought, but soon followed him into the tent of the brave army.

Ray tells Hamish that he's leaving for reconnaissance.

"The brave prostitutes are under the command of the Knights, so they can't do anything arbitrary. In that regard, we are free to move. So, Stella and I are gonna go scout once."

Hamish shakes his neck to the side of the word.

I don't have the authority to order you, but I can't.

Unconvinced Ray tries to persuade him by trying to get stuck.

"Why not? At least with my horse and horseback riding skills and magic, it's not hard to escape. Plus with Stella, you'd notice faster than your enemies. I don't think it's that risky."

"Sure, but you're less than an amateur at turning off signs. If it's just Stella, I still can't allow you to go on reconnaissance. Stella's in danger, too."

For him to know his own faults, if he is told that he would put his people at risk, he has to shut his mouth. Still starts talking "but......" to solicit something, but Hamish stood up to block his words.

"I'm going to go to the battalion captain now and get permission to scout. The situation is getting worse this far, you'll get permission. So wait."

(With so little information, I'd like to go on reconnaissance myself. But we're more certain Al will be in command of the reconnaissance. Leave it to him, at least he won't get ambushed...)

With that in mind, Hamish visited Arwell and asked for permission to scout,

"You mercenaries just have to shut up and obey my orders. Don't give me opinions greatly about mercenary flair that hasn't even been trained by children like us! I don't think I'll accept any suggestions from now on. If you find out, just get out!

The knights who were around in Arwell's words fight.

It was incredible that the Duke of Braveburn, the kingdom's musketeer, called it by first name, made such ramblings towards the kingdom's best warrior who would go on equal footing with their own superior chief, Count Victor Lockletter.

It can't happen, but if Hamish breaks out, there's no stopping him with the knights around him. So strong is the man in front of us.

To their superiors, who did not realize what had happened after stepping on the tiger's tail, they were more afraid of their lack of imagination than they were of being shuddered.

Nigeth Leland, in particular, was convinced that Hamish was not supposed to erupt, but that his esteemed men, the Mercenary Corps of Marcus (Red Arms), which also had some of the finest users in the kingdom, would not shut up.

(I really can't do this guy. I do not understand how much Lord Markat is admired by the warriors of the kingdom, including the mercenaries and, no, the knights. I don't understand that I was just born into the prestige of the Kilgaroho family and didn't accomplish anything. Not now, but you should have said no to this one. I won't be alive when this mission is over. At least I want to protect the honor of the Leland family...)

Hamish didn't even try to hide his flashy expression, leaving Arwell's room behind.

(In that minute, there is also the possibility of marching without even complaining in a busy manner. It would be a violation of discipline, but would you resort to arbitrary reprimand as head of the proselytizing army? Or ride Ray's suggestion......)

Hamish returns to the tent of the proselytizing army and conveys the words of the captain to his men.

"I was instructed by the Kilgaroho Battalion Commander that scouts were unnecessary. They said they wouldn't listen to us."

Gareth Ayling, captain of the most squadron of the Mercenary Corps of Markat, rises to that word.

"That kid... I'll strangle him"

Alberic rises to the word and puts his hand on his shoulder.

"There's nothing wrong with you here. Hamish, I knew I had to ask you to scold me."

Gareth is not convinced, but soon regains his calm.

Hamish was thinking with his arms around Alberic's words.

"Right. I have no choice. Get the three of us."

The Rays appear immediately and receive instructions from Hamish.

"The Kilgaroho Battalion Commander is not going to issue a scourge. Lord Leland will persuade you to reconsider, but that narrowness won't do it. I'm sorry, but I'd like to ask the three of you to scold me."

Hamish bows his head to them. And as I look at Ray, I whine, "You take command".

He was surprised by the sudden nomination,

"Am I... Ash is better suited?"

"No. You have been entrusted by Lord Victor to an extraordinary platoon leader. Besides... I feel like the three of you would be better off back in command."

Ashley, who was listening beside him, somehow knew what his father wanted to say.

(I guess you're trying to get Ray to think about the safety of me and Stella. If you're in command, you can't just be unscrupulous. You took care to make it responsible for the three of us and be a little more cautious)

Ray still tries to argue with his lack of experience, but Ashley does it on his shoulder that makes me think.

"Okay. Now let's talk about reconnaissance policy…"

Hamish and the other three brave army executives and Rays discuss their scouting policies.

With just three and fewer, Stella, who excels as a scout, is not very good for scouts, either, Ray or Ashley.

It was decided to put Stella ahead and alert only around the street in a way that Ray and Ashley would support behind it.

(It's just the streets... at least we can avoid a complete ambush, but the possibility of being turned around on the sides and rear doesn't disappear, does it? If they attack from the woods or from the hills...... they split where the line has extended. I don't know what the formation is going to be like, but as always, it might be safer for the knights to have an avant-garde and the mercenaries to have a rear guard. Nevertheless, I did not expect to be entrusted with such an important task…)

Ray had anxiety in his chest and felt his stomach ache when his mistakes involved the lives of many.
