Trinitas Mundus

Episode XVI: Ambush: Previous

The investigation team returning to the village of Thysek from the cave investigation was having an uneasy evening.

After midnight it happened when Boris and Aldo's squad were on alert.

Boris and Aldo's squads were outside the private house where they were based, splitting up in two places and hitting the alert.

Boris' squad was on the front side, and Aldo's squad was in charge of the back where the creek was.

Aldo, the beast man, finds multiple glowing eyes at the end of the creek. As he tries to raise the voice of warning, a howl called Wolf Warn echoes through the village.

"Wolf! Thirty meters ahead of the creek. Ginny needs to tell Ashley what's going on."

Whether we had just partied for a long time, they were all beginning to act immediately without hesitation. Sorcerer Ginny rushes into the house, and archer Neil stands and bows to shield the walls of the private house. And Chester, the magician, was moving to a position where he could support Aldo.

Aldo's eyes could see more than ten pairs of glowing eyes of the wolves.

"We have ten heads. About a forest wolf, but don't be alarmed."

Did the words of his warning signal or did the wolves jump one after the other into the backyard illuminated with lighted demonic props?

Neil immediately releases an arrow and pierces the neck of one wolf.

The wolves are not frightened at all and are attacked by the avant-garde Aldo.

"There are many! Make it right! Chester, ask the guy who goes around the side!

Chester shook his spear and said, "Ooh!," he replied, poking his spear at the side of the wolf who turned to Aldo's left.

Boris came to support Aldo when he heard the noise.

"Ellis, Frank! Stiffen up next to Aldo! Milene, take an active aim at the guy in the distance!

With the Boris coming to reinforce them, the first momentum is gone for the wolves, walking left and right in front of them in a vigilant, looking for gaps.

In the meantime, archers Neil and Milene continue to release arrows at the wolves from between the avant-gardes.

When Ashley and the others emerged from the back door, the wolves' will to fight was lost once and for all.

The wolves jump across the creek and disappear into the woods one after the other.

Returning from the raid, at that moment of horror, Stella's screams struck everyone in the ear.

"There's a fire on the roof! There's enemies on the front!

Ashley said, "Shit, you're a Yang Dynamic!," he threw up, "Aldo, I left the back to you!," he said, running to the table.

Ray tried to get out the back door but was running to the front with Stella screaming.

(Yang Moving? "Kick the wolf" into that gap? Fire attack?)

Some questions arise, but a careful peek outside through the front entrance.

There was a wing demon (Lesser Demon) throwing a ball of flame onto the thatched roof.

"Wingman! Watch out for magic!

Hearing Ray's warning, the Wingman throws a ball of flame at him.

He dodges it by shielding the dirt walls of the entrance, but the figure of the wing demon had disappeared into the darkness in that gap.

When he went outside, the roof burned up heavily and the fire had already become impossible to extinguish.

By the time we brought out our own luggage, the roof of the private house had turned into a giant pine light, scorching the night sky.

Ashley understood the disadvantage of being in the building,

"We're gonna use the wall of the next house as a shield to camp! Build a wall with something you might be able to use to cover it up! There's a wing demon out there, so watch out for magic attacks from a distance!

While listening to that instruction, Ray was shaking his head saying he couldn't pay attention.

(The arrows of darkness used by the Wingman are barely visible in the dark. You'll be under attack when you realize it. I know you can handle it if you protect me and Stella, but that's gonna get in the way of tomorrow's, no, it's already today or today's march. Well, what am I supposed to do...)

Ashley was also thinking about how to crack this down.

(The enemy seems to be able to serve demons. It's called a killer hornet during the day, it's called an earlier forest wolf, it's obviously manipulated. Besides, it hurts not knowing how many enemy fighters, especially wing demons. I don't know how many of them I can't even strike out in a situation... I'll have to be more vigilant until dawn to get as much rest as possible)

In about twenty minutes, the shielding using the waste material nearby will be completed.

"Keep the lights demon props on! Don't jump out without darkness even if you find the enemy..."

Ashley gives instructions one after the other.

The village just hears private houses burning and collapsing, with no sign of enemies.

When I thought there would be no more night raids, a pitch-black arrow of darkness would be shot in from within the darkness.

The arrow plunders Neil's cheek, the archer of Boris' squad, who was on alert.

"Enemy attack! Magic! On the front!"

The Ashleys, who were about to rest in his voice, are slapped up.

Ray searches for his enemies, but he is lost in the darkness and cannot find them at all.

Stella next to me said, "Do you know where the enemy is?," but she also just shook her neck to the side.

He was then shot in with a single shot of magic several times, and the investigation team could barely take a break.

And we had the morning of November 12th.

Still, the sky is stained with deep blue, but gradually brightness increases.

The faces of the investigation team all looked tired from the lack of sleep caused by the night raid.

Relatively energetic were Ashley and three others alone, three of whom prepared meals and exercised perimeter vigilance.

When Aldo groaned to Ray, "You're well," Ray replied with a smile as he prepared his meal, "compared to Millis Valley, it's not as big a deal as this," he said.

(It doesn't look like a mercenary at all, but this guy is also a Marcut Mercenary Corps (Red Arms). I can laugh in this situation, so I wonder what kind of hell it was called Millis Valley)

When the sky began to whiten, we were ready to leave.

Stella and Aldo, who start out as scouts, leave.

At a time when their appearance disappears into the woods, Ashley gives instructions to everyone.

"The line is the same as it was yesterday. Me and Ray lead the way, followed by Aldo's squad, Hazel's squad, and Lord Boris' squad. Boris, it's pretty dangerous this time, but I asked for it."

When everyone nods, the precautions are more thorough.

"Yesterday's night raid was just harassment. I mean, this is the real deal! Surprise, trap, sniper. Think of it as anything. Pay constant attention to your surroundings! Don't leave the scene until you have an order! Okay, we're leaving!

Stella was in the woods with Aldo.

Not as good as Stella's, but Aldo's movements also move agile, lowering himself and moving through the woods utilizing a shade.

(So far, I don't feel any sign of an enemy. Nothing like a trap... but the woods are still looking strange today...)

It's been going on for about an hour, and we'll rendezvous with the main unit.

I will report the results of Stella's reconnaissance to Ashley.

"I don't feel any sign of an enemy at the moment. There are no traps, but I'm concerned about the state of the forest"

"Something wrong? What exactly does that mean?

"I don't know what to say...... you say the forest is lurking your breath or the whole forest is nervous...... sorry"

"No, fine," Ashley puts her hand on Stella's shoulder.

(Can we keep going along the road like this? Do you want to talk to Ray)

Ashley is concerned about ambushes and traps and takes the consultation to Ray.

"Stella says something's wrong with the forest. Would it be okay to keep going along the road?

Ray looked around in the woods,

"Right. You might want to take a detour, but the shortest distance is this way... either head northwest or southwest through the woods ready for the night or force through the shortest distance..."

He meditated his eyes for a few seconds and thought,

"... it would be more unfavourable to fight the Demons at night. I'm going down the road."

Did Ashley also have a stepping stone,

"Right. Walking in a forest with no way in this tired situation is dangerous. I have no choice but to go more vigilantly now."

"But the enemy knows our power. If you're going to ambush me, you must have quite a bit of combat power in place. I forcibly broke through and said, but you should also think about detouring. And..."

As Ray makes it hard to say, Ashley keeps saying the words to his change.

"You want us to be shields and tell them to let the others get away? Especially Ginny with information on the magic team."

Ray grabs her arm, says, "It won't happen, and I won't let you," then kisses her cheek gently.

Ashley turns bright red, but he replied, "Oh, I'm going to do that too".

After a brief pause, Ashley ordered him to leave.

At that time, Stella was already out in scouts again with Milene, the elf archer in Boris' squad.

He had proceeded smoothly through the woods for about four hours, digesting about half of the entire itinerary.

He was going on several breaks, checking for information from the scouts, but there were no signs of demons, and in the woods, it was creepy quiet.

After a small pause, Stella, who was out in scourge with Aldo, suddenly stops and lays down.

When Aldo, who was with him, panicked and lay down in the same way, he asked softly, "Is something wrong?"

She pointed forward,

"There is something. It's on a thick tree."

At the tip of her finger, there was a gray chunk of fur on the branch of the tree about 100 m away.

"That's a gray monkey. They're on top of that... one, two, three... six of them."

"Please report to Master Ashley...... please wait. There's something down there, too. No, there are three rock pigs."

Aldo said, "That's awkward. What do we do?" he mutters.

"Let's get back to the main unit. There may be others, and I think if we bypass a kilometer or so, we can avoid it."

Aldo also nodded, and the two turned back from the spot to contact the main unit.

Ashley, having heard from Stella and the others, decides to bypass.

"There's an ambush ahead. At least six grey monkeys (Gray Apes) have three rock pigs (Rockboa). Stella's eyes say there's a good chance there's still a hidden enemy. It is imperative that even the enemies we know now will struggle considerably. Once we make a detour north, we'll continue west."

Everyone snorts at the words, but Boris asks me, "Do we go straight through the woods?"

"It depends on the situation. I don't know what's going on in the woods. If it's gonna take a while to get around, we're gonna get back on the road."

After Stella and Hazel's squad fans go into the woods to chase after them.

The woods will flourish with trees and sedimentary grass, and rays walking ahead will proceed as they cut open with spears. For this reason, it took nearly twice as long as going down the road.

Ashley was bitter about this situation, albeit as expected.

(Again, don't take too long. If it were to be a battle on this occasion, it would certainly be a rather unfavourable battle. What should we do......)

Meanwhile, Varma, a lunar demon who was awaiting an investigation team with the gray monkeys, hears reports of wing demons who were watching from above. And he was frustrated that the ambush attack ended in underdevelopment.

(It's because of that Beastman's daughter. I'm really blind. If it weren't for that girl, I could have let the Wingman stick out...)

Wingman's report definitely said he was off the road, but because he went into the woods, he didn't know where he was going.

(Can't you just chase a reconnaissance from above? There are only two wing demons available. If this were the case, I would have brought the little devil Imp...)

She dispatched two wing demons to each of the North and South. It would commit the risks found in the investigation team, but it also allowed for close reconnaissance from the low altitude.

And I also decided to move them west about the demons I was going to use to ambush them.

(If we don't finish them off in this forest at all... the plan will go wild... at all costs...)

In a hurry she had slightly distorted that beautiful face.

The investigation team was traveling west, blocked many times by the grass, trees, and even fallen trees, small valleys, etc.

We can only proceed for about a km in an hour, and at this pace the arrival of Thornblow will be late at night, even without enemy attacks.

(More than a dozen km away, but at this pace we can only arrive by the time the date changes. I still have to get back on the road...... and I'm curious that there are no enemy attacks. I thought the ambush would switch to assault when it failed...)

We go through the woods, but that's just the adventurers of Periclitle, and they don't show the color of fatigue that bad. But yesterday's battle, last night's lack of sleep, gradually takes away their health.

Proceed through the woods for about two hours and take a break with lunch.

Stellas scouts were also joining the main unit, taking a break in a discreet place where they could hide behind trees.

Luna was taking a break, thinking about Ashley in command.

(Mr. Ashley is amazing. So was yesterday's decision, but I also foresaw this situation. I've never worked with a leading mercenary before, but you're so awesome even when you're young)

And look up at the sky casually.

Hidden in the shadows of the great trees, the range of sight is narrow, but the sky is blue and white clouds flow with potpounds.

A big birdy shadow passed across the cloud.

For a moment she thought it was harpy, but she felt like the shape of her wings was like a bat and not like a harpy with eagle wings.

(What's that? He looked like a harpy, though?

She reported the matter to Ashley.

"I just saw a chilling bird-like demon in the sky... not wings like harpy, but bat-like..."

Ashley said, "It's a wing demon. Where did you see it," he stuffs all over her.

Luna tends to its power, but points in the direction she sees it and tells it with a trembling voice, "It's around there".

Soon Ashley said, "Everybody, hide yourselves!" and gave instructions to Ray,

"Apparently, the enemy is losing sight of our position. They're using wing demons for reconnaissance. If that's possible, I'd like you to shoot me down."

Ray said, "Copy that. If it's within a hundred meters, I'll try to shoot it off," he grins nicely to reassure her.

And he was looking up at the sky, saying to everyone, "If you find a wing demon, let me know right away".

(I think I'll use a newly thought out arrow of light. But if you shoot down the wing demon you're scouting, will you let them know where we are?

He tells Ashley about the concern,

"I don't mind. If you wander over the sky, you'll find it one day. Better earn some distance in the gap you shot down. But make sure you shoot me down. It'll be awkward to let them get away with it."

As Ray nods, soon Aldo's small but sharp voice hits Ray in the ear.

"Northeast sky! He's headed this way from the east!

I was flying about five hundred meters from them at a critical height in Kozuru, the periphery of Oki.

I can't see them again and again with sticking out tree branches, but I'm flying a course that passes directly over them.

"Everybody, hide! I'll shoot you down right through the top!

Everyone hides themselves in the grass in Ray's words and slowly changes into position as he lowers himself.

Shortly before passing directly over him, Ray released an arrow of light, anticipating the wing demon's flying course.

The Wingman saw an arrow of light flying from directly below and rushed to change direction to the south. But Ray's arrows of emitted light follow his movements.

Ray had released three more arrows in the meantime. And each of them tracks down the wing demon.

And he pierces one after the other from the blind spot of the wing demon desperately avoiding the first arrow. Winged demons shot through their wings stalled and fell as they coned about thirty meters ahead of them.

(From remote guidance, I tried to change my image to autonomous following, but it worked. Now you can combine the continuous firing function with the tracking function…)

The Aldos who saw it had lost their words to its magical alienity. Even Ashley, resistant to his magical anomalies, has a frightening look on his face.

(As always... Ray is a natural enemy of flying demons. If we could be chased by four arrows, the demon with little defense would panic......)

Out of them flailing, Stella jumps out of the shade of a tree to stab a stop at the wing demon.

And he stabbed a stop at the wing demon in a dying state with the arrow of light and the impact of the fall.

Ashley returned to me in Stella's appearance,

"Everybody, we're leaving! Stella! Come out to scout with your fans!

They all rose up and went on through the woods again.
