Lesson 19: Survival

Ashley suddenly couldn't understand that the demon had pulled off.

(Why? We had no more hitters. Ray's magic ran out, and every party was the limit. If we were pushed one more time, we would have been wiped out...)

She shook her head to the side,

(I don't have time to think about that right now. If we don't retreat now......)

"Is there anything you can't move because of an injury! We're leaving in a minute! Beast man, prepare the magic props for the lights, except for the elves!

The grumpy adventurers also return to me in her voice.

Start preparing to leave, but everyone's movements were heavy because of fatigue, and he had managed to move with Ashley's scolding voice.

Stella was retrieving the Demonic Crystal Stone from the demons as the others sat down. In the meantime, I was looking for clues about this demonic attack.

(Demons attacking jointly. If you are a Monster Tamer, there must be some kind of trace...)

In her knowledge, she heard that demons use special magic props - like a collar of slaves - and was looking for anything to hit it.

But I'm going to see all the demons, but I don't have that kind of magic prop.

Tell Ashley and Ray about it,

"I'm not familiar with it at all, is the only way to use demons?

Stella shakes her head at Ray's inquiry.

"No, they also use dark attribute magic for their magicians, so magicians with dark attributes might be able to use it. The story I learned inside was that some of the Demons use those moves."

Ashley will think about what this inexplicable retreat of the enemy has to do with anything, but I can't think of anything.

"So you have a magician of dark attributes behind you. I guess I'll have to check it out in Doctus - the academic city - in conjunction with the magic formation of the cave."

Both Ray and Stella nod that it's useless to think about it any more with less information.

We were ready to leave, but the surroundings were already surrounded by darkness.

"Seven, eight kilometers to go! I can reach the city in three hours at the latest. Don't be too hasty and fail to be vigilant! Then we're leaving!

At her signal, the investigation team set off.

Ray has a horrible look at the forest trees illuminated with lighted demonic props and grips the spear hard.

He was remembering in the woods near the city of Morton, after fighting Hydra.

(When I walked in the woods with Ash on my back, I couldn't afford to think it was horrible or anything, but it's still creepy. I know I have enemies, so maybe I think that's extra...)

And while I was guarding my surroundings, I was wondering why the enemy pulled them off.

(I don't know what caused this, but I think the timing of our total annihilation has changed. It seems most likely that someone attacked a demon magician to help us. In that situation, Stella just won't notice any other signs...)

When I try to conclude so, the question brings me to my head.

(When it comes to magicians of dark attributes in the present situation, magicians of the devil clan stick together the most. If the people who helped us are hostile to the Demons, why don't they show their faces before us? Besides, there was no sign of a battle, and I think the demonic mess soon subsided... did you get an order from above? If there's an order not to kill us... then why do you need to help us?

He goes further in his thinking.

(There are some of us who should not be killed. The sorcerer who attacked it didn't know. So if someone up there... doesn't have to be someone up there, but the magician himself noticed... at least not the three of us. We've fought the Demons many times, and my magic stands out, so it's impossible to suddenly notice in that situation. If so, who...)

He looks at the face of the investigation team as he looks around. All the faces illuminated by the demonic props of the lights are exhausted and look like ghostly, lifeless faces.

(Remember that time. Something must have been different before that... yes! It's Luna! Her helmet was dropping. That impressive brunette was untied, and I should have seen her face firmly...... Luna, dark attributes, demon tribe...... really hooked. Something…)

Ray shook his head once and dismisses the thought.

(No. I really think about it. Now we just have to focus on going home alive......)

Walk for about an hour and make a small pause once.

Due to the lack of a clock, I don't know the exact time, but Ashley thought it was already after 6pm.

(Thornbrough's gate closes at 8 p.m. Two more hours. At the current pace, it's critical, but we can't raise the pace any further. Even I'm close to the limit. Frank - Boris' party-heavily equipped swordsman - Ginny - Aldo's party-magician - Fan - Hazel's party-swordsman - will just be walking with energy...)

Finish your little pause and start walking the rough road in the woods again.

Fearing the darkness, he goes down the road, but with no sign of demons, his vigilance gradually eases.

Stella doesn't feel any sign of a demon, but she also notices the gaze she felt when she went.

(That's the gaze. Also watching from somewhere......)

She'll walk right behind you, to Ashley.

"It's that gaze. I don't know where it is, but be vigilant."

Ashley reacts freakedly to the word and looks around.

And towards everyone,

"They're watching us! Don't neglect perimeter alert! Aldo, Milene! Watch your back, too!

I get a reply that doesn't help her voice.

Ray was beginning to wonder if, when he was attacked by his enemies in this situation, he would be wiped out without fighting back.

(That's awkward. I'm losing everyone's temper. I know the limits are exceeded by us, but if I get attacked here... if I was right earlier, I don't think it would strike me in the dark, but I don't know what the other side thinks...)

Stella explores the surrounding signs to check the position of her gaze.

(I feel pretty far away. Besides, I don't feel any sign of demons...)

She doesn't look tired and continues to watch at the head of the line.

Hazel's party archer Luna watched Ashley take the lead with Stella whenever she became anxious that the demons would not strike.

(I can feel relieved watching Mr. Ashley and the others. How can you be so confident in this situation? Is it still blood?)

And when I lower my gaze slightly back, Ray's hindsight enters my eyes.

(What kind of person is Ray? I also know a super celebrity, the lover of Hamish Marcut's only daughter. A surprising sorcerer is Mr. Ginny, who is out of that Doctus School of Magic. The spear arms are also super first-rate. Yet I can get grounded when Stella rambles... Speaking of which, I've never seen grounded before since I've been here. Well, I've only seen it on TV in Japan... the other thing that bothers me is the eyes that look at me. I don't seem to be using color eyes, but for some reason, I see eye to eye. Have we met before somewhere? Don't you have it? If you're such a good-looking guy, you'll remember...)

An hour and a half after the small pause, I could see Thornbrough's city lights ahead.

Ashley said, "Almost there! But don't get distracted!" and inspire them all to reposition Stella and Elf's Milanese.

"Stella, please turn around. Milaine, replace me with Stella."

The rear vigilance was carried out by Aldo and Milene, the beasts, but in this situation they thought the two would be distracted, turning the calm stellar to the rear.

Stella was also just a little relieved that the gaze we had been monitoring ourselves had disappeared for about thirty minutes. Still, due to the teachings of the "inside” stained body, adequate vigilance continues.

(Master Ashley is right. This timing is the most dangerous. But I can't afford to be more vigilant with these people)

He walked another twenty minutes, finally through the woods and crept through Thornbrough's gate just before 8 p.m., when the door was closed.

As soon as I crept through the gate, everyone but Ashley and Stella sat down to collapse.

Ginny, a mage with no strength in particular, is so tired that her lips turn purple that she has no eye focus.

A gatekeeper who saw it said to Aldo nearby, "What happened?" but he could not even open his mouth because of his fatigue.

Ashley instead,

"We were investigating around the village of Thysek, but we were attacked by a fairly powerful demon. Well, he wasn't anywhere near the city, so I don't think you need to be so vigilant, but you better be."

I didn't think of the gatekeeper in that word, and I looked at him at the gate. At the end of his gaze there was only a closed gate, but I felt like I could see a demonic shadow.

Ashley assembles each of Aldo, Boris and Hazel's leaders and tells them what he plans to do tomorrow.

"I'm leaving for Periclitle tomorrow morning. Get some rest today."

Boris objects to the word.

"You can't move tomorrow because of this fatigue. Can you at least guess the rest of the day tomorrow?"

Aldo and Hazel snort at the word too.

"Okay. We leave alone. Boris, you take command and leave the day after tomorrow."

The three leaders nod in a hoarse face, but Ray objects from the side.

"No. If we don't all move around, the enemy will attack us. If we can't all leave tomorrow, we should change the day after tomorrow."

Ashley doesn't know what Ray's words are intended to say,

"You should tell Lord Randall this information right away, though. Especially the information on the magic team."

Ray nods to agree with her, but suddenly changes the subject.

"Ash, do you have any idea why we didn't all die?

She wonders that the story has suddenly changed,

"No, I think there was something wrong with the enemy... you have an idea?

He nods loudly, but says, "I'll talk to you later because it's not what I'm talking about here," he says.

Ashley wasn't convinced,

"... ok. If that's what you say, I'm sure there's a good reason. Then I'll hit rest one day tomorrow. We'll check our plans again tomorrow night."

The leaders nod and try to break up, but Ray stops the three of them and says, "Please don't leave the city tomorrow. Please," he bows his head.

Aldo said, "It's okay. Tomorrow we'll all be asleep. It's about you guys who are fine," he laughs. Each party then headed to their respective inns to pull their legs together.

The Rays also head to the inn where they keep their horses.

Along the way, Ashley listened to me earlier.

"What does that mean? I thought it was the enemy's whim that we survived?

Ray goes on to explain the hypothesis he thought about.

"Those demons didn't have magic props like a collar of slaves. That means the magician who can use dark attribute magic is the mastermind. Speaking of dark attributes..."

Ashley mouths "demon tribe".

"Correct. Not sure, but if this is the place at this time, the keyword Demonic comes most sickly. The next thing I know is why you stopped attacking, but I'm not sure about this. But there are a few things that I can think of… I'm not sure at all because I've put my reasoning behind me."

Ray cuts his words once and scratches his cheek.

"The first was the appearance of enemy enemies. Second, the enemy's boss or colleague went into a stop for some reason. The third is that the enemy noticed something about us and stopped attacking."

Ashley nods small and prompts ahead.

"The first is hard to think about. If there were enemies of the enemy, it would be unnatural for the demonic mess to arrive in an instant. And that third party won't come into contact with us for one reason. [M] I honestly don't know the second and third. Either way, there must have been a reason not to destroy us all."

Ashley said, "Why shouldn't we destroy them all? I have no idea," he tilts his neck.

"All I could think about was someone important. For example, an enemy informant, someone with important information… or someone who wanted us to work with him in the future…"

Ashley said, "You think you're an inside man?" and turn back to Ray.

He laughed, waved,

"Maybe not. If there was an insider, you could wipe them out, except for that person. If the insider himself stood around well, there would be no confusion. I'm not sure I have a second piece of information. I think it's most likely that I've found someone I'd like to ask you to cooperate with in the future."

"What do you mean?

"Suppose the enemy sorcerer has launched an attack without knowing who he wants us to work with. At that time, if you suddenly find out you're the person, make them stop attacking you first. And you can't attack after that. Even if you don't attack that person. That's..."

As Ashley finds out, he continues, "If he kills anyone other than that person, does that person refuse to cooperate?"

"Exactly. It's not normal to snort" yes ”when someone kills a party member who's had a hard time working with him and tells him to cooperate. Then it would be more constructive to let this place get away and make contact later."

"Right. If that's all you've thought about, do you have any idea who that person is?

Ray nodded small,

"Luna's helmet was off then. That distinctive brunette was untied, and I should have seen her face firmly. I don't know when my helmet came off."

Stella called out, "Um," and came into the conversation.

"Luna's helmet came off just before the Grey Ape attack stopped."

As Ashley looked at Ray, she said, "Is that settled?" I hear.

"Right. It's called timing, because I'm as concerned about the demon invasion as I am about the demon invasion, so I think it's pretty likely. Besides, you said she was the only survivor of the village of Thysek, right? The fact that the Orcs have been attacking us in an organized manner… is likely to involve the Demons last time"

"Sure. Eighteen years ago, eight years ago. Twice there are orcs and orgasms involved. Thinking about Chulock, it's not surprising to think that the Demons manipulated the orcs and attacked the village where she is"

Ray nods at it and adds, "I'm concerned that he wiped out the village eight years ago," he says. And we'll go further.

"Then there's the possibility of grabbing her in the streets"

"But I don't think Luna herself can grab it if she refuses?

"I don't know what to say, but it would be quite a crisis if only the gray monkeys and harpies who survived without us attacked us. And if there's an extra wing demon..." If you want to save your people's lives, listen to what you have to say. "

Did Ashley finally get good at it,

"I see, the more we are, the more we need a lot of fighting power. So we just stopped getting ahead of ourselves. That's why."

"That's the thing," Ray nods with a smile.

Ashley looked at his face,

(Sure seems to be the best thing Ray has to say, but is that really all? I can't help but be anxious to relate to Luna. I have a feeling something bad is going to happen...)

Stella looked at him with a look of respect as she listened to Ray's hypothesis.

(It's really amazing. I hardly think I thought about it in my head. That's more of an apology on my knees for me. I guess I deserve it......)
