Trinitas Mundus

Episode XXIV: The Purpose of Phototheism

Accompanied by Raspade's experiment - the activation of the magic formation - Ray, who consumed his magic, returned to the inn once he felt a little tired.

Back in the room, Ray started talking to Ashley and Stella with a slightly more complicated grin.

"I'm talking about Dr. Raspade, if my soul was summoned in the magic formation of the summons, I can't use the magic formation to go home. That doesn't mean someone's going to have to send you back. Honestly, I'm relieved."

"I was wondering if you might be discouraged... well, this one's better"

Stella is also nodding loudly when Ashley says so with a slightly happier face.

"Of course. There's Ash and Stella. It's better this way."

He changed the subject after that with a laugh.

"I'm going to change the story, what do you think of the story of Light God being in this city?

Ashley hears about phototheism and looks disgusted for a moment.

"Right...... best not to meet, but just in case, you should leave your armor off. Fortunately, this city is safe, and so am I."

"Hopefully, you'll never want to see me. Someone might know Stella. Perhaps you should have stopped talking to Dr. Raspade around here."

After discussion between the three of us, we came to the conclusion that we should try not to walk as far as we could until a group of light gods left Doctus.

But their thoughts were wasted in just a few hours.

That evening, Chas, the master of the “Sage's Away” pavilion where the Rays stay, tells the Rays that a guest has arrived. As Ray and Ashley went down to the dining room, there awaited a clergyman wearing a knight in white armor and a luxurious white robe.

The knight was around forty years old, an arrogant looking man characterized by a beard that was nicely groomed. The slightly obese body looks like a plate armor.

The clergyman was about thirty years old and seemed to be a soft-eyed, personable man. But its fingers are embedded with colorful rings, and it doesn't feel like a priest of pure poverty at all.

The knight spoke nothing with an arrogant look on his face, and the clergyman spoke more to the Rays.

"Are you the adventurers who fought the Demons? I am Maggioni Gastaldi, bishop of the Divinity of Light. This is Lord Maximilian Paredes, captain of the Lukes Saints."

"It's Ray," Ray said, slightly bowing his head with only minimal words.

(What are you doing here? Still, the Light gods seem to have a great attitude...)

Ashley only needs a name the same way, because Ray recommended the dining room chair "because standing talkin 'is nothing". Then Paredes didn't even try to hide his disgruntled face,

"I guess I can't help it because I'm a country adventurer, but I didn't expect to lead Sacred Knight Tatsuno to a place like this... I don't even know if I'm going out here and doing it, but I don't even want to say thank you"

Ray shudders at the word and loses the word.

Ashley remembers Bishop Azaro - the bishop of the Morton branch of the Light Divinity, who weighed in to assassinate the Rays - and exposes his anger.

"We're not followers or anything of the Light God religion! He pushed me on his own, and I can't talk about it. Ray, we're going back to your room!

Bishop Gastaldi rushes to the appearance of Ashley, who returns the words and heels, despising Paredes.

"Lord Paredes, give me the place. This is not the Holy City. Do you understand that arrogance is against the teachings of the God of Light (Lucidus) in the first place?"

Paredes is sitting in a chair on his own, without any particular colour of reflection.

I looked at him with the look on Gastaldi's face saying, "Ashley, it was you and Ray. If you disgust me, let's apologize," he bows his head gently to the Rays.

Ray and Ashley were surprised by the fact that they had apologized, and accidentally accepted the apology.

Gastaldi started talking to them, trying to get things done before Paredes said anything.

"I heard at the Tilia School of Magic that you guys brought into the Academy a diagram of the magic formations that the Demons supposedly used, is that true?

Ray chose the words carefully,

"It's a magical formation that seems to have been used by demonic beings to be precise. We haven't seen the Demons."

Gastaldi nodded at the words,

"Why did you think I looked like a demon? There's a demon clan. You think?

"An unfamiliar demon has attacked me, so I thought it might be the Demons. I just can't say anything because I haven't seen the Demons themselves."

Gastaldi smiles at Ray's cautious remarks.

"Apparently you're wary of us, but we're not trying to tell you what to do. If there's a demon tribe around Periclitle, we're thinking we should head there."

I thought Ray would still be.

(From now on, it is possible that the battle is over even if we go around Turok. Besides, I guess I don't feel comfortable heading around Chulock in the middle of winter either. Luckily we got sightings of the Demons elsewhere, so you're just here to confirm it...)

Ray answers Gastaldi's words with a smile.

"It is with my information that I fear that all the priests of the Holy Knights and the Light Divinity, who are precious forces of war, will be directed to the wrong place. Shouldn't we be headed to Lax, where there are demons for sure, over the information of those like me?

Ray knew Periclitle would be attacked by demons, but he thought it would be more dangerous for a selfish group like Phototheistic to be involved in Periclitle's defense.

(I don't know how much power you have, but I can't believe you're moving troops on your own. It just gets in the way of Mr. Randall - PericLittle Defense Chief Randall Ogburn. Bishop Azaro or Priest Bassani - Priest of the Light Divinity of Morton. I magically attacked Ray to assassinate him, but then I revamped him - if he's a class light attribute magic user, he'll be somewhat helpful...)

"I see. From what I hear, you guys are mercenaries of that Marcut mercenary regiment, too, aren't you? I don't think you can go wrong if you're the best at fighting demons in Millis Valley."

(Are you looking into us? I didn't know you were going to take it out one by one... that sounds nasty. Well, maybe this is what I think because I hate light theism...)

"That's when we just fought the Orcs and the Medium Ghosts. At least we haven't seen the Middle-Ghost near here."

Paredes is irritated by Ray and Gastaldi's questioning.

"I don't know if he's a demon or not. Isn't that good? It's a waste of time. I'm going home."

That's what I say and take a seat. Gastaldi released his voice on the back of Paredes in a cold voice.

"Lord Paredes seems to be mistaken for something. Remember that only the command of direct combat is under the control of the Holy Knights, or your lord, but everything else is under the authority of the Order's headquarters, my authority? Commanders who fail to understand the importance of information cannot complain if they are replaced. You'll be seated with that in mind."

Paredes returns to his seat, looking remorseful for the words.

"I showed you the ugly part. So, is it possible to get us to the place where we found that magic formation? I'm going to play the reward."

Ray had a dangerous smell for a bishop named Gastaldi.

(This bishop seems quite powerful. If you act badly together, you're interested in me and Stella. That must never be avoided......)

"I'm sorry, but I'm not going to move from Doctus right now,"

"Well, I didn't know you'd say no without asking for a reward... apparently, you're really on guard about us. Was there any trouble with our church?

Ray gets even more alert.

(Maybe he also knows he got into trouble with Bishop Azaro in Morton. Instead of feeling dangerous disappearing, it becomes extra strong......)

"No, light divinity and trouble, etc... is that a common story? You don't normally get into trouble with a temple, do you?

Ray flinches in a slightly more relaxed tone.

Gastaldi narrowed his eyes for a moment and stared at Ray with a sharp glance, but quickly recreated his smile,

"So can you give me the map of where that magic formation was? We'll do our own research."

Ray does what he thinks, buys time.

(I'm just going to be asked to dig for roots and leaves when I teach... let's pretend I'm a sticky mercenary here. Hopefully, a single-celled Holy Knight, solidified in this sense of privilege, will say something......)

Ray laughed and deliberately turned his gaze to Paredes,

"This is the information we got from being cornered to the point of total annihilation. How much can you give me for this life-threatening information?

In that word, Paredes said, "Well, there are mercenaries dirty on the money. We don't have the money to pay for mercenary flair," he says in disdain.

As if Ray had been waiting for that word, "Then we won't be talking about it. Then," he said, standing up.

Gastaldi called out to Ray, "I want you to wait," he turned to Paredes,

"I have to report that attitude to the Sacred Capital. When you take the battle against the Demons lightly..."

Ray ignored Gastaldi's story,

"I am proud of my profession as a mercenary. I'm not going to talk to anyone who doesn't approve of that."

That's all I said, "Ash, let's go" and walked away from the spot.

The remaining gastardi are:

(Looks like someone reported it from Lux headquarters (...) after all. Definitely for our purpose this time (...). Nevertheless, if we don't do something about Paredes (this fool), we're going to be compassionate. Even though our followers continue to dwindle in the North. Even though this expedition is said to be part of that countermeasure... reports from Fonce - the king's capital of the Kingdom of Lax - say that the popularity of the Mercenary Corps of Markat outweighs the king. To those, this fool...)

"Lord Paredes. The purpose of this expedition is not only the Demonic Crusade. There is also a restoration of the Order's credibility. Have you forgotten about that? This time, I'll have the Knights officially sent a document of protest from the Order headquarters."

Object as Paredes summons to the word.

"What is the word against the fifth staircase, Non! I don't have the privilege of being your bishop!

There is a staircase in Phototheistic Church that represents the rank within the Church, with the Archbishop as the chief minister of the Church as the eighth staircase, the Cardinal as the seventh, the Archbishop as the sixth, the executive bishop as the fifth, the bishop as the fourth, the priest as the third, the auxiliary as the second, and the monk as the first staircase.

Meanwhile, the Saint Knights of the Holy Kingdom of Luke have the same staircase because they are under the command of the Holy King, which is secular, but are also incorporated into the organization of the Light Divinity.

The highest-ranking “Holy Gentlemen” of the Holy Knights have become priests of the Seventh Staircase, with the “General” of the four-member Regiment Leader class being the Sixth, the Great Captain class being the Fifth, the Squadron Leader class being the Fourth, the Platoon Leader class being the Third, the Ping Knights being the Second, and the Subordinate Knights being the First Staircase.

Paredes, the captain of the Fifth Staircase, does not like the very fact that he is instructed by Bishop Gastaldi, the fourth staircase below.

"I have connections. From the Archbishop's point of view, I (...) have been given all powers other than combat over this sacred service (Demonic Crusade). I didn't forget about it anymore. I won't stop you from challenging your decision."

Paredes roars "Ugh" and loses his words.

"If you want to continue that attitude, I will dismiss you. This is not a threat. We can't leave the purpose of our church to the grave task of those who don't think about our interests."

With that said, Gastaldi was remembering a story told to him by his boss, the Cardinal, before he left.

(The Cardinal's story was that God's revelation came down. And the purpose of this expedition was to find the appearance (depression) of the God of Light (Lucidus), who freely manipulates God's cause (light attribute magic), rather than to crusade the Demon Nation, and to wish the Holy City the same way. He also told me never to let the Dark Families come into contact with him. A young man named Ray earlier. The more I look into it, the more I think the Lucidus manifestation we look for......)

And I remember Ray's attitude,

(Again, trouble with fanatics in Morton seems to be pulling its tail. I saw the colour of stubborn "kakaku" rejection in my soft expression. And this fool oiled it. We haven't decided what we want yet, but we have to do something about it. Information from Fonce showed no interest in power or gold. It is normal if God's manifestation, but how should I take the story......)

The Bishops of Gastaldi returned to the luxury Inn in the new town.

Meanwhile, Maximilian Paredes, captain of the Saint Knights Demonic Crusade, was also dissatisfied.

(I don't like that young man being given command at all. It grows because the Cardinal likes it. Without the words below...... okay. Crusade the Demon Nation to achieve results and you will be in the hands of Nong.)

Captain Paredes had ordered his men to prepare to leave, but Bishop Gastaldi appears and tells him "the departure will be postponed".

"Why? Whether you're on your way to Lax or Periclitle, you must march as soon as possible. Even an amateur would know that much."

I can throw words at you like I despised you,

"It's your fault. If I hadn't gotten in my way trying to get information about the Demons, I could have left right away. Even I, the amateur, understand the importance of information."

The painful words of the bishop strike the paredes. The Holy Knights standing behind him stared at the two without changing their faces.

Bishop Gastaldi saw how it was,

(Again, Paredes is the problem? The upper echelons of the Knights must have heard about this one too. Despite this, why did you choose such an incompetent person? Or did someone put a cross spear in it? Either way, this man is in the way. I want to get rid of it early, but the Sacred Capital is far away. What's the matter......)

Paredes is still calling for something, but the bishop ignored him and headed back to the old town.
