Lesson 33: Bishop Gastaldi

Ray, who entered the upscale Inn of the Northern District, a commercial district, applied to see Bishop Gastaldi. Then, immediately, the innkeepers ran, and the young clergyman, who seemed to be an Easter, came with the momentum to fly.

He was guided to the largest room on the corner of the third floor, the so-called suite.

As soon as the Feast knocks on the door, it is put through and Bishop Gastaldi greets him with a grinning smile.

"You've come a lot. Lord Arklight. Let's just say we enjoy the vanilla tea we promised."

Ray nodded quietly, sinking himself into a stunning reception sofa, as recommended by the bishop. Some of the rooms were priestly young men and escort saints, plus young female clergy dressed like nuns.

Gastaldi starts to talk in a good mood while the nuns prepare vanilla tea.

"Have you done your errands at Doctus? Well, that's fine. So, about leading us to the cave where the Demons were using us, have you changed your mind?

Ray reaches for the vanilla tea served before, worried about how to answer.

(How should I answer? If we take the Saints to the village of Thysek, we can pull them away from Periclitle for at least ten days. If it's just guidance, it doesn't have to be me, Mr. Aldo or Mr. Boris. But I feel like I have a different purpose. You feel like you're setting something up with me...)

Ray puts his mouth on vanilla tea, but he was thinking and didn't feel the flavor in his bustle, but praises the tea to buy time.

"It's delicious tea. It's certainly worth a drink."

"It would be. It's the finest vanilla tea. It's hard for a bishop like me to get this."

Gastaldi brags about his chest. I'll brag about the tea even more, but Ray wasn't busy listening.

(Do you want to attack me first? Let's hear why you put it on surveillance. If you want to fall in love, you can leave on that grounds...)

I was just finishing my tea, and Ray opened his mouth.

"Since you all left Doctus, I have surveillance attached to me, but does the bishop know anything about it?

Gastaldi concedes softly that he arranged it, in the kind of tone that assumed the question or even said it wasn't a big deal.

"Oh, if they are, they are the escorts I have attached. I apologize if I offended you.

Ray said in an unexpected answer, "Are you an escort?" He was asking again.

"Yes, it's an escort. Lord Arklight is an important figure in the information of the Demon Clan. He was the one who fought the Demons in two places: the Millis Valley, the village of Thysek. Not necessarily will the Dark Families take the means to assassinate that brave man."

"But why didn't there be any explanation? If you'd just told me you put on an escort, I wouldn't have had to be on guard in vain."

Gastaldi puts in an apology meaning and bows his head gently.

"Our escorts are meant to prevent demonic assassins. I have ordered Lord Arklight to escort you unnoticed."

Ray dared to make a grumpy look, "So it was“ bait ”to hunt demonic assassins, am I?" and intensify the discourse.

Gastaldi shook his head to the side in a panic,

"Lord Arklight has a hands-on" Who "escort called Lord Stella. You are also a famous spear artist yourself, and Lord Ashley Markat is a brilliant swordsman. I foolishly thought you'd be offended if I told you that we had escorted you."

(Were the answers prepared? Well, that's good. Well, what shall we do? I just want to know why you're so interested in me first, but I guess you honestly won't talk to me...)

"I understand that story. But we don't need any more escorts. There's nothing wrong with wasting all that secrecy on a guard like me. Or is that also why you have to protect me?

Gastaldi made a serious look and started talking correctly about his inability to stay.

"Our Light Divinity is looking for an excellent user of Light Attribute Magic (Divine Cause) to challenge the coming Jihad, that is, the battle to annihilate the Dark Family. I heard Lord Arklight used an unparalleled magic of light around Turok. Furthermore, we have heard that we have defeated our Order with the magic of light that we have never seen as many users of your business as Azaro. Furthermore, in the Valley of Millis, we defeated the orcs with divine wisdom, and we have heard of the treatment of the severely wounded, who are said to be incurable..."

Ray was listening to Gastaldi, thinking his skin was poppy.

(How far are we looking? I didn't know you even knew about solar focusing magic (solar systems)... it's more information-gathering than I thought. Thinking it's just a bunch of fanatics is going to get you at your feet...)

"... it is the decision of the small office that priority should be given to the safety of Lord Arklight in preparation for a full-scale counter-attack, not a skirmish like this one. Sooner or later, our Order will attack the land of the Demons (Kwaedam Tenebre) and eradicate the Dark Families. In that jihad, as the sword of the God of Light (Lucidus), Lord Archrite will lead the army."

Ray said in unexpected words, "Lead the army? Me, sir?" The voice flips.

"Yes. A general as good as Lord Arklight would soon be an army general on the sixth staircase, that is, a general who would lead thousands of soldiers. When it comes to the Sixth Staircase, it is the same staircase as the Archbishop, who is sent to various countries. I was wondering if it was natural to put an escort on such a person."

(Archbishop class? I'm not even twenty. Me? That's it. Just like Jeanne Dulk. Flag me, say something about an abominable enemy that holds back jihad, and make me fight the Caerm Empire. And I guess you're going to let them fight to some extent and tailor them to martyrs if they get in the way. In the first place, it is physically impossible for the Holy King of Lukes on the western edge to attack Kwaedam Tenebre in the east...)

Ray became more alert to the size of the suspended bait and vice versa.

And then, calmly judging the current state of Luke's Holy Kingdom, he thought he would be made a tool to raise the morale of the soldiers, the people. And where it was used to some extent, he wondered if he would get into a political conflict and end up as a martyr.

But Bishop Gastaldi had a different idea.

(If you become the manifestation of the God of Light (Lucidus) (depression), even His Holiness the Holiness must kneel under the Archbishop. But even if you say that, you won't believe this one... this one is astute. It should be easier to understand to be told that he would have the same power as the Archbishop than to be told that his majesty would kneel. It would be more credible and more acceptable to arrive in the Holy Capital and be told that it would take on a higher status than I had heard. All you have to do is keep my heart certificate good...)

Gastaldi was a very good person within the framework of light theism. But since he will be hung by a few filters called Phototheism, the thought, outside Luke's country, will really cause deviations.

Even though we knew Ray was wary of light theism this time around, we thought that the organization called light theism was absolute and unfounded that it would sooner or later befall us.

Gastaldi has rarely left the Holy Kingdom, and only merchants with dealings with denominations have contact with non-believers. For this reason, Gastaldi believed that without questioning the doctrine of light divinity, Ray was also bound to submit.

(The rest is how to get this guy to the Holy Capital. As long as we go to the Sacred Capital, this one will change his mind. A beautiful and noble cathedral full of silence and light. Therefore, if you give the words of the saint and the famous Archbishop, you will soon forget about the madman like Azaro...)

When Gastaldi was putting his thoughts on him, Ray was thinking about what to do with the Saints.

(In the meantime, I know why you've been hanging on to me. Aside from whether the reason is true or not, you definitely want to take me to Luke's. Now there's something more important than that. What to do with the defense of the city. My plan is clearly gambling. [M] That's pretty bad stuff too. The Holy Knights circle over it a factor that makes minutes worse. How should we reduce the risk of the Holy Knight......)

"What do you think about this fight?

Gastaldi returned from the bottom of his thoughts to Ray's inquiry.

"... From what I've heard, it seems that Periclitle here will turn to ashes. Even when we're in the middle of a battle, it's probably best to buy some time."

(For once, you know this guy. If you don't know, it's that big captain)

"We are now thinking of a measure in our Defense Command. This is a measure that requires very delicate movements, which are nullified simply by the Porcupine knights"

Gastaldi gets a slightly bitter look,

"I understand what you're saying, but for the battle, it's in the hands of the Holy Knight, Lord Maximilian Paredes. I'm really sorry, but I have no authority to intervene."

It was the answer I expected, but Ray is a little discouraged.

(Can the Holy Knight still be out of control? I have a hand in making it a separate task force and moving it somewhere irrelevant, but I want a little power... that's troubling... yes, let's borrow those soldiers...)

"Is it possible to borrow an infantry? I think there were about two hundred of them."

Gastaldi didn't immediately realize that Ray's infantry was about a peasant militia that was a trap.

"Are you talking about peasant militias? If that's the case, I think it would be possible if we negotiated well...... what can I say, those guys are like shields brought in a few pairs. I don't think it'll help."

Ray frowns at the word shield, but manages to mislead.

"We are losing in numbers to our enemies. Now I want a little power. So I'd like to ask the infantry to help us in the defense."

Ray goes on to talk even more as Gastaldi snorts at the words.

"How do the priests plan to be?

"We are trained as healers, so we plan to refrain from backwards and hit the wounded with treatment. From Lord Paredes, if you give an order like the withdrawal of all armies, of course you will obey, but basically you are under my command. What's that?

Gastaldi couldn't understand one thing Ray thought right now.

Ray was looking to strengthen his defense by separating the Holy Knight from the Infantry, and the clergy.

(Looks like you can separate the Saint Knight from the Infantry and the clergy from this. Anyone who seems to be dawning in this kind of power struggle should be easier to understand to smell than to put it straight. This may be my bias...)

Ray tried to convince Gastaldi to use a slightly euphemistic expression to help convince the Paredes Battalion captain.

"Adventurers in this city don't specialize in combat on horseback. This time, there are about a hundred elite, holy knights. We intend to prepare a special (...) place of activity for the Holy Knights"

Gastaldi understands Ray's thoughts.

(This person seems to want to separate the Saints from the defensive battle. Trying to make me understand that...... it would be better for me to take my skin off here......)

"I see. Let me also speak to Lord Paredes. With a word from Commander Ogburn, I think things will go smoothly."

Ray was remembering that pitiful peasant militia, though his chest was down in his heart when it seemed to work.

(Bring it on your own and shield it. It's a really bad country. I don't want to talk to people any more, but I'm gonna have to come here with Mr. Randall later. Talk to Mr. Randall about how to use the Holy Knight... you should hit your hand so the watchman doesn't get in the way later)

"I have another favor to ask. I was wondering if you'd let me meet someone who was doing my“ escort. "

Gastaldi becomes a sinister face and asks, "Why not?"

"I will be at the forefront in my battle with the Demons. I don't want you in my way then. I'd like to have a meeting in advance for that. This doesn't have to be right now. If you could just give me some time tomorrow..."

Gastaldi said, "Are you going to be on the front line!" Raise your voice.

"It's dangerous. It's like putting your life in jeopardy in a fight close to such a skirmish..."

Ray blocked Gastaldi's words, intensified his narrative and began speaking.

"I don't resent the Demons, but I don't want to destroy them. But I hate unreasonable wars. This invasion is a battle for nothing. What do we defend from such unreasonable battles without protecting the people of the city? I spare my life, too. I lost a lot of my people in Millis Valley, and I don't like people dying. But I can't forgive the devil's way this time. So we fight!

Gastaldi was pushed by the force of Ray, "But don't you need to be on the front line? ♪ and argue as if to whine ♪

"At least you're going to implement the measures I've thought of. Who will stand without me on the front line? Besides, I'm more certain of what I'm ordering."

(If we're going to adopt that measure, I or Mr. Randall have to be on the front line. Because the timing of the avant-garde and the rear guard is important. Mr. Randall is commander-in-chief, so we can't let him stand on the front line... probably more dangerous than Millis Valley. But I could do something with magic...)

Gastaldi was impressed by Ray's words.

(Again, this one is definitely the manifestation of God. I've never seen anyone more noble. It is the very God of Light (Lucidus) who leads the army of Light in mythology…)

"Dear Arklight (...), I understand your readiness. But the escorts are the slaves of the Beast Man. You just have to order me not to have a meeting. I don't need to see you. I'm gonna be your shield. I'll include you."

Ray gets angry at the word again, but with Gastaldi's tone becoming more polite, he decided to use it.

"Even though they are slaves, one life given more than God. I won't let you die in vain. If you put me under my command, I'll make it work enough to show you. Of course, only during this battle will you come under my command. I will not issue an order against the denomination, and you may order me to reject that. What do you say?

Gastaldi had a slight hesitation in lending Ray the slave troops of the Beast Man.

(I can lend it to you. This one would definitely be even more useful. But it's hard to ignore the order to protect this man's life. Well, what's the matter......)

Ray had an accurate insight into the causes of Gastaldi's patrol.

"How about this? Always place two people around me, and those people give the highest priority to protecting me. I don't know how many others there are, but the others move on my orders. How about this?

Even listening to Ray, Gastaldi was still lost.

(Sure, this could prevent the worst... but just in case. What am I supposed to do? If I reject this person's suggestion here, my heart goes bad for the Church and for me. I am oblivious to war. I can't tell how dangerous it is......)

Ray saw Gastaldi get lost and decided to make his last push.

"Okay. Let's just say we didn't have anything to talk about right now. However, there is no need for a“ escort ”that could get in my way. My measures should look very dangerous if someone doesn't know what they're doing. Because if the guards intervene there, not only will they get in the way, but they will also put my life at risk."

So cut the words and stab a stop at the troubled Gastaldi.

"If I feel any sign of an escort, I will never trust Light God again, and you (...). There's no reason or need for me to trust anything that doesn't trust me. Make them do something without trusting you. I'm just trying to take advantage of this. I don't want to be used by anyone."

And Ray gets up off the couch.

"Now please tell the captain of the Paredes battalion about the infantry. Later with Commander Ogburn..."

Gastaldi blocks Ray's words, says "OK" and bows his head.

"The matter of the escort follows Master Arklight's thoughts. Later, I'm going to ask the slave leader, Ozasa, Uno."

"So you think you can put me under my command?

"There are ten beasts I have brought. The two will serve as our escorts and liaison officers, so please use the eight as the hands and feet of Lord Arklight, including the chief Uno."

Ray takes his hand and bows his head, "Thank you, Bishop Gastaldi," he said.

Gastaldi looked less than full, saying, "Please don't wear it."

(This should have made this guy's heart certificate pretty good. When the battle here is over, he will also admit to accompanying us to the Holy Capital...)

Ray's heart, on the other hand, was pretty cold.

(You're an animal slave... I don't want Stella to see you, but you can't keep me from seeing you, can you?)

Ray later announced that he would revisit with Randall and left the inn.
