Trinitas Mundus

Episode 44: Psychological Warfare

Finishing his conversation with Randall, Ray left the room he was using for questioning. Outside, Luna, who had left the room earlier, stood with a crying look, and her fellow party, Hazel, was speaking to her.

Ray approached Luna and said, "I need to talk to you later. If possible, just the two of us," he said.

Before Luna answers, Ryan, who favors her, interrupts and gets grabbed by Ray.

"Why are you so fucked up! What happened! Hey!"

Ray stared him straight in the eye and said in a pale tone, "I shouldn't have said it. I think she should speak for herself," he said.

Ryan's anger explodes into the words.

"Oh no! I'm not saying that with a clear face! How much do you think Luna is suffering!

Ryan shook up his arm trying to get Ray to hit him.

But at some point Stella, who was turning behind him, takes that arm and, conversely, assembles it on the floor. And Stella was rarely absurd to her voice.

"You know nothing! I don't know how much Ray was suffering... this one tried to put his life on the line to protect you! Take that..."

Ryan finds himself easily held back by a stellar far smaller than himself. Ryan, whose pride had been hurt, from remorse, remained held back, eating and hanging by her.

"Deadly? Didn't you just stay here! Make it look great..."

Stella twisted her arm up further into the words, and Ryan didn't think, and groaned. She turns her murderous eyes to Ryan.

"You're not even in doubt that you've been safely returned? How did you get back safely when you were a smaller number than you were supposed to be, and even more of a puppet... don't let someone who doesn't even realize that sound great!

Ray placed his hand on Stella's shoulder and said, "Enough. Thank you," he said, shaking his neck small and sideways.

When Stella let go of Ryan's arm, Ray spoke to Luna again.

"I was just telling you, there's something I need to talk to you two alone. It's very important to you. Mr. Lunar Palace (...)"

At the end he told her in a small voice that only she could hear, and he walked away from the spot.

To Ray's last words, Luna had forgotten her agony until then, and had followed his hindsight with a glimpse.

(I just said “Mr. Tsukiya" in Japanese. Who is he? Why...)

As she tries to go after Ray, Ryan grabs her arm.

"You don't have to talk to him like that. Let's just get out of here."

Still, Luna tried to go after Ray, but stops at the word of Hazel.

"I want you to tell me what you heard first. This is a favor as a companion to the same party"

Luna stared at Hazel's face and replied with a small voice whispering "OK".

Time goes back a while.

Varma, the Moon Demon, was lurking in the suburban woods of the city to infiltrate Periclitle that night.

Suddenly, a strong shock hit her, thinking about infiltration procedures and more.

The pain struck me with a nausea that made me spin my head, and it lasted for about twenty seconds before suddenly disappearing as if nothing had happened.

(Hey, what happened? What's the pain now? I've never seen anything like this......)

She shakes her head and thinks about what happened. And I realized that my connection to Billy in the preaching was broken.

(The connection with the puppet disappeared... but it's not what it felt like when the puppet died. When you die and interrupt, you just disappear all the time. But not this time. Maybe they forcibly unlocked the puppet's magic...)

A figure of one man floats on her head.

(He's the only one who can do this. That (...) "White Mage” only...... but I wonder if it was really disarmed......)

The shock could not escape, and she was confused, shaking her head, and sat down on the spot.

(It's not that hard to get rid of puppet tricks, but it's not something that people who know nothing can do easily... well fine. Even if it's disarmed, the puppet doesn't have any memories in between. I didn't leak any information, so you don't have to worry...)

She regained her confidence again and began to prepare for infiltration.

And that night, when the date changed, under the thin three-day moonlight like a bow, a creature with three large wings was flying over Periclitle.

And when he landed flutteringly in the lonely corner west of the city without making a sound like an owl, he went into a liquor store.

Ashley was acting differently from the Rays that day.

She was bought a career as a mercenary and tasked with training the adventurers.

Pericritle is a city in the meadows, a few km to the forest. Between the forests it had become a gentle hilly area and was used as a grazing area.

After the Orga herd was discovered, the cattle and sheep that had been released had been transferred to a village in the west. Dozens of men were mowing the dead pasture to feed it.

Ashley was training a young adventurer opponent in the meadow around the North Gate.

On the face of it is to be able to work together at all, but Ray had asked me to do something else.

(Do you want me to be as alert as I can so the Demons can attack me from the east... if I do train in the outskirts of the city, I can see at a glance that the adventurers are not good at mass warfare...)

Ray was trying to make the Demons recognize that the adventurers were less proficient and not suitable for a mass battle on the flat ground.

(Especially since we're bringing in the younger guys, we're barely able to work together. If I saw these people, I might insult them. But I'm not sure how that connects with coming from the east...)

All the adventurers who encouraged training were young, gathered around the late teens to a degree beyond twenty.

There were about two hundred assembled adventurers, lined up in twenty, running back and forth, left and right, by Ashley's decree. However, that line disturbs as soon as it starts to move, and even if the amateur sees it, it doesn't seem like an army-like move.

Ray was trying to show the Demons the low smell of the adventurers and make them think they could easily crush them from the front.

Instructions were also issued to install traps by backwoods, "Sakagi" and rope around the city's walls.

(Reinforced defenses with backwoods won't work for the org. Well, a rope that just makes you fall, that should do you little good. And those sorcerers. What are they doing?

Ahead of Ashley's gaze, a magician-like stand-up wrapped around thirty or so robes was working in the grass bushes.

Ashley, looking from afar, had no idea what they were doing.

She returns consciousness to the adventurers and drives them out loud with mercenary regiments planted.

"You can't even stop a goblin with a move like that! Right wing! What are you guzzling about! The center's too forward! ……

We will continue our training in the morning and continue through the evening.

During the training, the adventurers send Ashley a hateful gaze, but she continued to curse without worrying.

"What are you doing! Even fifteen children can move more if they're mercenaries! Oh, my God, that hips! ……

He moaned at the adventurers' low level of basic health and smell as he shouted.

(In about ten days, it'll be hard to make these guys available. At the very least, if the Mercenary Corps (of us) will be at the core, we can figure it out...)

After finishing his training, Ashley returned to Alliance headquarters and joined the Rays.

He seemed a little sloppy, but she first reported the results of the training.

"In just a few days, it's gonna be hard to get them to work."

"You can just run away," Ray mutters.

"Well, you might be able to do something if you just run away, but if you panic, that's even at stake. Are you sure you're going to use them?

"Yeah. I guess I said I'd use it or I'd have to. Maybe, but we need Luke's peasant militia to be on the front line, too."

Ashley is stunned, "Is it so harsh?"

Ray passed on to her the information he got from Billy,

"... it's twice as many as a simple number, and five times less than a battle power difference. Even if my strategy works, I'm not sure I can turn that difference in power upside down..."

"So you're not feeling a little better… I certainly don't know if that difference in power will depress you."

Ashley mistakenly assumed that Ray was depressed because the enemy's power was greater than he thought.

Ray shook his head small, but Stella started talking in his place.

"What Master Ray cares about is Mr. Luna. I was returned from Riccadale earlier, but after interrogation of the demonic puppets..."

Stella will explain what happened after the interrogation.

As Ashley listened to the story, her anger gradually swept in.

"Why should Ray be cursed! Ray tried to help even though he knew he was being targeted. And yet... that man, if you strangle Ryan, it won't fit!

Stella was nodding at Ashley's anger, but Ray put his hand on Ashley's shoulder,

"Ryan (he) thinks about Luna all the way. I have no choice. More than that, I have to talk to Luna now. But I don't have much time."

Ashley said, "Don't you have time? What's this all about?" and raise a voice of doubt.

"I think you saw it, too, but today, the magicians were doing something. That's what we're gonna do now."

Ashley had no idea and asked for an explanation "tell me more".

"Those magicians... they didn't actually do anything. I'm just setting up something magical, like I'm creating some kind of trap."

Ashley accidentally said, "You didn't do anything?" and ask back.

"Yes, nothing useful," Ray smiled just a little.

And the grin replaced a naughty little boy's expression.

"If the Demons came from afar, think of it as seeing that. What do they think?

Ashley answers with a serious look, although he cares about his expression.

"You're putting up a trap, or you'll look like you're building a defensive facility with magic, paired with backwoods. That's what I thought."

"That's right. If so, wouldn't you like to see what the facility looks like?"

Ashley speaks up to Ray's words.

"Is that what you're saying! When the darkness descends, the scourge of the demons will come to confirm it. If it goes well, the Commander Class may confirm. If we capture him or defeat him, it will be in our favor. Is that what you're saying?"

"I don't expect it to go that well," said Ray, nodding loudly.

"What do you think if this one defeats the demonic scourge as it comes? Perhaps there's a secret weapon we'd like to hide until then. If that happens..."

Ashley took over Ray's words,

"That makes it harder to attack from that direction. And deliberately keep the east side open and let them attack you from there. Is that what you're saying?

Ray grinned and laughed,

"That's a shame. If it was only open on the east side, I'd suspect the trap on the contrary. So magicians set up" traps ”in all places"

Ashley makes a difficult face when she doesn't know again.

"I don't know any more. Doesn't that make much sense? Why would the Demons attack from the east?

"There are dangerous traps around the city. In this situation, this one will be placed in the eastern suburbs. The city's defenses are stiff, but if they still attack us, we'll have trouble, so it's like challenging a showdown. In that case, the enemy should first attack the main unit in formation to the east in order to sharpen this battle force. This one is overwhelmingly unfavourable on the battlefield, so if the battle starts, we'll soon escape into the city. Naturally, from the nearest East Gate."

Ashley hit Pong and his hand,

"You say that... so you want the skill to just get away with it... as always, I'm amazed at what you think"
