Episode 77: The Results of the Battle

3025 years of experience in Tria, December 26th at 6pm.

Hamish Markat was in the dark, commanding the sweep of the remaining enemies, remembering the death fight Ray had waged with the enemy general.

Initially upon arrival on the battlefield, we did not know where Ray was, but we broke through the Little Ghost tribe unit and rendezvous, by Periclitle Defense Corps Commander Randal Ogburn, we were told that enemy general Orvo Kronvar had left the front for Ray.

"Until earlier I could see him... probably went to kill Ray"

Hamish said in that word, "Is that true!" and ask back.

Because I couldn't imagine the enemy general picking up the young Ray himself.

"Ray said before the war.“ The enemy general is after me, not Mr. Randall. "

Hearing the words, Hamish moved out immediately. In order to escape the shortest distance, a normal human being would have decided to break through the walls of the orga in front of him in an unexpected way.

But even a warrior like him, it wasn't easy to break through the walls of the giant orgasms.

Even Hamish, second only to Hamish, and the Mercenary Corps of Markat (Red Arms), took fingerfolding warriors, first captain Gareth Ayling and second captain Zenga Ormiga left and right, and even gained the support of his ally Alberic Auger's strong bow, extreme difficulty.

Nearly twenty Orga, a powerful demon of the third degree, and several more dangerous Grand Ghost warriors were holding them back.

In common sense, it's nothing but suicide for just four of us to go in there. But they forced the wall open.

When he defeated the orgasms and opened his sight in front of them, there Ray, a magician, threw down his spear and was about to fight with a long sword.

(Why? You got hit in the arm!

Hamish saw Ray dripping his left arm loose and realized he was injured in the arm or shoulder. Hamish just walked in silently to Ray by himself.

Hamish runs through the midst of the little ghost tribe like a deserted field.

Some little ghost warriors noticed him and tried to block him. But he is also slashed down without being given while waving his sword up.

His running speed had outstripped that of the constant, and he had reached Ray a few dozen meters away before Alberic went through the walls of the Auga and tried to release an arrow.

Hamish arrived a few meters away shortly after Ray put a long sword in Orvo. Hamish is relieved by Ray's victory, but at the next moment he realizes that the dying Orvo is about to squeeze his last force and snap Ray's neck.

Hamish reached behind Orvo as he slashed down a small ghost warrior still standing up under one sword.

And with that rigid sword, he slashed off Orvo's marutai-like left arm.

But he was only a few seconds late, but at that time Ray was already unconscious and lost his support, he slowly fell.

(Didn't you make it?! I don't have time to check now. We must defeat the enemy...)

Hamish dances into the Little Ghost Warriors without checking Ray's safety.

The little ghosts who have lost Orvo, commanders of all armies, are discouraged by the fact that as many warriors as Orvo have been defeated. Hamish like a storm danced in there, so they were defeated, without the art of becoming.

More after Hamish, a group of elite, markat mercenaries slash and tear apart demonic armies one after the other in an attempt to cover their beloved captain. The commander of the surviving Little Ghost tribe ordered him to withdraw, saying that neither should he resist the momentum.

Hamish ordered Gareth and his captains to pursue the Little Ghost Clan and sweep the Great Ghost Clan, which still continues to resist. When I glanced at Ray, my beloved daughter Ashley was holding him back. Hamish thought the Ashleys could take care of Ray, and ordered his men to rescue the wounded on Periclitle's side.

And the Great Ghost Clan and Auga, who resisted stubbornly, will also be completely silent in about an hour. By that time the book of the night had completely descended, and in the human eye, the magic props and bonfires of the lights alone had made it difficult to act. The pursuit of the Little Ghost Troops had already been halted, and only dying orgasms and goblin groans were creepily obsessed around.

By the end of the sweep operation, Randall and guild chief Reginald Warbeck had restored a troubled chain of command, also helping support from the city of Periclitle, and rescuing the wounded was almost complete.

December 26th, around 8pm

The city of Periclitle was so quiet that it didn't seem like it would be after the great victory.

The wounded had been brought in one after the other since around 6 p.m. when the battle was over.

The healers continued their healing magic until they ran out of magic, but the wounded never interrupted. Relatively minor injuries were handled by women who remained in the city, and first aid was provided by bandages and escorts. In previous battles of demonic opponents, demons used by ghosts, such as oaks and goblins, dominated the battle, with many bruises and fractures caused by sticks, but many ghost warriors were involved in the battle in this battle, and many wounds caused by blades were seen. Because of this, there were many who were losing arms and feet, and they heard many pessimistic and sobbing voices about their own future.

In the meantime, Ray was hitting the healing of the seriously injured with only critical magic. Not as many healers as him were among the priests of the Light Divinity, and he kept whipping and hanging his magic on his tired body to reduce even one of the dead.

Ashley couldn't stop looking at him like that worried.

(Now, if you stop Ray, he'll break. So all I can do is watch it not run out of magic...)

Ashley was the earliest to receive support from the Mercenary Corps of Markat (Red Arms), as he was struggling on the left wing of the Periclitle Army. For that reason, after lowering his men backwards, he followed his father Hamish to help Ray immediately.

And Hamish's superhuman activism makes him lucky enough to help Ray out.

When I think of that time, I still can't stop sweating cold.

(It was dangerous then. If Father was ten seconds behind, Ray's neck would have been broken... if he hadn't made it, what would I have done...)

Ray's expression was dark, even as he triumphed with a single hit against the enemy general. Ashley quickly understood what Ray was thinking.

(Ray looked sad when he saw the battlefield. Perhaps you're wondering how dead he is. And you must be feeling responsible for yourself. He said he should have done better...)

Ashley remembers what happened on the battlefield right after the battle was over. There were numerous bodies lying there. A weak voice was flowing in the wind asking for the help of the wounded.

Around the time of being engulfed in darkness, the priests of the Light Divinity appear to rescue the wounded from the city, but initially excited by the great victory over the Demonic Nation, they also lost their word when they saw the battlefield lit by the magic props of the lights. The young monks were vomiting repeatedly at that tragic sight.

Luke's peasant militia counted two hundred at the start of the war, but only thirty stood when the battle on the plains was over. He was in such a fierce fight.

Of the two hundred peasant militiamen, half had been killed in battle and seventy had been seriously injured. Of the seriously wounded, at least ten were difficult to pick up tomorrow morning, and many lost limbs. For peasants returning to poor rural areas, losing limbs is tantamount to losing the art of living. They thought about what lay ahead and were in mourning.

Hazel, the healer who directed them, managed to survive even as he fought a bad melee. But I could only stand up to the magnitude of the damage done by the peasant militias I led myself.

Before the battle on the plains, the Holy Knight of the Light Divinity had sixteen others, of whom only five survived. But that included Fortunato, who was thought to be dead.

He had consumed more than his limits of magic and unleashed a blow that risked death because he stabbed Orvo differently than the enemy general. But the blow was unluckily held back by Orvo's axe. As a result, the magic wrapped around the sword was interrupted along the way, and he had gained his whole life in nine deaths.

Another person who was thought to be dead lived.

It was Uno, the head of the Beast Troop.

He also launched a decisive attack to stop Orvo from legging, but he was struck by Orvo's fist, which was divinely suspended. As a result, he was blown away among the little ghosts, unconscious, but the little ghosts who were panicking could not stab a stop at Uno.

Though Uno lost five of his men, he fulfilled the orders of the bishop of the Light Divinity, Gastaldi, and the order to keep Ray.

Ashley remembers what Ray looked like when they heard those two were alive.

(He looked really happy. I guess it's because I thought I drove myself to death. But soon I got back to my dark face. other than them, because I heard they didn't help......)

And I look at Ray again. There was a sweat on his forehead, a figure of him treating the seriously wounded, and a figure of Stella helping beside him.

Stella was waving a double sword at the end of the battle, near the rear center of the Demonic Army.

Initially, there was a backward stir with the scouts, but this was due to a small group of boiled soldiers hitting the reserves.

The scouts tried to move quickly and continue the agitation, as they operated, but the enemy Little Ghost Warriors are also agile and eventually surrounded by several times more power.

The scouts also give up retreating and start responding, but lightly equipped they were overwhelmed by a number of violence and lost their lives one after the other.

Fifty scouts were reduced to about half, and the survivors were prepared to go so far. Stella was also prepared to die, thinking about Ray.

(To that one, I missed Ray...... but I can't seem to do it in this situation anymore. All you have to do is reduce your enemies for that one a little later!

When she regained her temper, she heard horseshoes coming from the north.

For a moment Stella wondered if Ray had come to rescue her, but that was Marcut Mercenary Regiment IV, led by Elias Nifer.

Elias and the others kick the little ghosts and goblins with their horseshoes and rescue the scouts. They kept running through the rear of the Little Ghost tribe like a disease, and Stella didn't even have time to speak up.

(Thanks... that was Squad Four. I wonder if the Hamish are here to help... then this battle should be over soon. My place is that one. But......)

Ladis, the cat beast man who was beside Stella, puts his hand on her shoulder.

He grinned at his red-dyed face with returning blood,

"Leave this place to me. And it looks like reinforcements are here again. You go to him."

That's what I said and pound her back.

Stella is bewildered for a moment, but as Ladis put it, the mercenaries appear as if they were the Marcut Mercenaries. Stella bowed her head small, shouting, "Please," and tried to jump out. That's when the white light spreads near the center of the battlefield.

(Is that light magic of light?... Then there must be that one over there!

Stella runs on the battlefield marked by a white light. You will be pushing through the midst of the Little Ghost tribe unit, but there is confusion being created by Squad Four, and you will reach your destination location without a battle-like battle. But what I saw there was a giant warrior, Orvo, grabbing Ray's neck.

When Stella tries to jump out, from behind Orvo, a black chunk pops out. When I realized that was Hamish, Ray slowly fell.

Stella said, "Master Ray!," he exclaimed, running to him. When she got to him, Ashley was already holding him back.

Then I didn't leave him so Ray wouldn't force me.

(This person is unable to do so. I have to rest now......)

Stella was feeling happy while taking care of Ray.

(I could survive. This one, Master Ashley... that's all I'm satisfied with... I don't care what happens to the others. This is something I can't tell this one...)

The damage on Periclitle's side caused by fighting in the second half of the Periclitle offensive, in the meadows, was more than 80%. Of the thousand five hundred and fifty who participated, about five hundred were killed and seven hundred and fifty were seriously wounded. At the end of the battle, all but the Mage Squad suffered some kind of wound and were in exactly the state of full creation.

Meanwhile, the damage on the part of the Demonic Army was less than a quarter of the total, less than three hundred, that the Great Haunted Troops, which were one hundred and sixty, were wiped out, and the Little Haunted Troops, which were one thousand and four hundred, were also able to escape the battlefield. The Middle-Ghost warriors, who were around twenty, were always in the rear, so most of them were successful in escaping. Still, it was a huge defeat that 80% of all armies would die in battle.

The Periclitle offensive was a battle of 3025 years in Tria and only eight hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on December 26. But the number of casualties on Pericritle's side is one thousand, eight hundred and fifty. It extends to three-quarters of all armies. In addition, the number of war fatalities reached as many as eight hundred, and a third of all armies were unable to welcome the next morning.

Meanwhile, the damage on the part of Sochius, but the number of those fortunate enough to escape the battlefield, was twenty medium ghost warriors, two hundred small ghost warriors and one hundred goblins. And Varma Niska of the Moon Demon and Luna the son of the Moon, fifteen of the Great Ghost and thirty of the Auga, were added, but indeed more than ninety percent of all the armies exposed the wreckage to the battlefield.

As a major battle in the early 3000s of the Tria calendar, the Battle of Acree Chain in the Kingdom of Kaum in 3007 is famous, but even that battle has not caused so much damage to both sides. Even in record-breaking combat, intense battles were rare with as high a wear rate as the Pericritle offensive.

Later, Sinclair's historical researchers praised the battle, the Periclitle offensive, and Ray.

"This Periclittle offensive was also a battle that made the world aware of the name of one young man named Ray Arklight. He continued to flirt with the Sochius Western contingent in its outpost, the intelligence battle, and showed his talent as a brilliant military man and strategist. The ability to plan an operation is noteworthy, having devised and implemented a bold measure of using a quarter of the city of Periclitle, overshadowing a battle ratio that is said to be triple or fivefold… At the end of the battle, the battle in the northern plains led just over a dozen cavalry soldiers, stirring up dozens of enemies and also showing excellence as cavalry. He also played a single ride with his enemy warlord Orvo Kronvar and made himself known to the world for his excellence as a magician..."

Sinclair was questioning Ray's behavior in the battle on the plains.

"... If he continued to assist Reginas Warbeck, the commander-in-chief, instead of rushing around the battlefield as a cavalry or magician, he would most likely have won without waiting for reinforcements by Hamish Markat and other mercenaries. Warbeck was excellent as Adventurer Guild Manager, but because he had no experience as a soldier and could not have played more than a symbol without excellent staff... in that Ray Arklight's limitation was that he did not understand that tactics were to kill his allies efficiently. To see the evolution of the battle, a tactician like him would have masterfully partitioned the Sochius army, which could only push the force, making the most of the powerful magician force led by Lionel Raspade, and crushing the enemy main force, the Great Haunted Tribe. Moreover, if he had been beside the commander, he would have been able to burn out the enemy general by dedicating his measures. Combined with the magic of the Mage Squad, it was also possible to take over the enemy generals. In other words, it is presumed that he could have won without such a critical situation… he renounced his role at the most important time, when he was most needed as a military teacher…"

Sinclair's assessment was unacceptable to those who knew the battle at the time.

Later, having learned of that assessment, Raspade has left the following comments:

"I'm an amateur about war, but that's all I can say. If, Arklight, you were in command, it would have been difficult to separate the enemy. If he hadn't led the Holy Knights himself to provide right-wing support, we magicians would have been wiped out without unleashing magic. By then the situation on the right-wing side had been critical...... there were no military experts, no militants in the true sense, including you, Arklight, on that occasion. The only person responsible for defense, Randall Ogburn, was a military expert, but even he was hard to say a militant...... at that time, there was no one in Periclitle who could mask the situation with tactics. As far as I can tell, there is only one person who could overshadow the situation, but he wasn't there..."

Raspade spoke this way and defended Ray Arklight.

Alberic Auger, deputy secretary of the Mercenary Corps of Markat, also said:

"I just went to help, so I don't know the first one, but in the end, even if we don't make it, Ray, I think you could do something about it. Besides, I say the battle is a result, but the flow changes easily with pretty little things... What do you mean, people who haven't even seen it don't want us to say it anyway... If we hadn't made it, something else would have happened. Because she's lucky... this is somehow, I just think so..."

As for Ray Arklight, Sinclair, who gave him a rather harrowing rating, has let go of praise for his struggle on the part of Periclittle in the Periclittle offensive.

"At the time of the war, the forces of the Sochius Western Dispatching Army, or Demonic Army, were made up of five thousand and five hundred warriors and manipulators (Tamer) of the Great Ghost Tribe 200, the Middle Ghost Tribe 800, and the Little Ghost Tribe 500; and the number of demons in further service numbered Auga 500, Oak 2,000, and Goblin 900 and 3,400, with a total strength of four thousand and nine hundred. On the other hand, the Periclitle side was only a total of two thousand and five hundred for the avant-garde forces such as swordsmen, magicians, about four hundred archers and about two thousand magicians, one hundred Saint Knights of Luke's Holy Kingdom, two hundred prostitutes by retired adventurers and citizens, and two hundred peasant militias of Luke's... According to the researchers' calculation method, the power ratio was greatly outweighed by three to five times by the Sochius side, and given the poor defensive facilities in the city of Periclitle, it is commendable that all that was left at the start of the war. Randall Ogburn, head of defense in particular, has recruited young Ray Arklight and has had success. Though he has a proven track record in Millis Valley, the measure of accepting his measures without hesitation by the young is commendable. Hidden in the shadow of Arklight and often overlooked, the fact that he was on defense as a general was more than a surprise to Periclitle's side. One of the winning factors would also be the good relationship between Warbeck, the chief administrative officer, and Ogburn, the military chief. It is undoubtedly the merit of these two that Archrite's measures in this battle could have been done as he intended…"

Sinclair also mentions the struggle of the unnamed adventurers.

"... the adventurers' struggle in this battle is also commendable. An adventurer, who was said to be individualistic and unfamiliar with the military organization, followed the commander's orders to the end in this battle, who did not abandon the battlefield. It is no exaggeration to say that this produced a miracle. If only one person had appeared to leave the battlefield, the battle for extermination in the city and the fierce battle on the plains would have ended with a victory on the part of Sochius... it is precisely they who are the true heroes in this battle..."

No one objected to this assessment. In fact, the mercenary of war, Hamish Markat, has left the following words:

"... the adventurers' struggle can be seen from the battlefield. All the dead were falling towards their enemies. And no one had let go of their weapons… I could only offer silent prayers to them who tried to fight even if they fell…"

And here's how Sinclair sums up about this fight.

"... If we had believed in Arklight's warning and abandoned the city of Periclitle early, the Sochius side would have gotten Periclitle and the major surrounding cities. In that case, it is believed that even if tens of thousands of troops were thrown, they could not easily be retrieved. The power of the ghost tribe is characterised by the speed of replenishment of the family, which is the main power, and the small amount of supplies required. In other words, once you have a strong base, it is easy to maintain it… There are three fortified cities around the city of Periclitle. Cardobeck in the north, Thornbrough in the south, and Orton in the west hit it, but they are all standard castle cities of the Caerm Empire, and the offense will require a full-scale siege weapon or a powerful magician's unit... Although the abilities of a haunted manipulator (Tamer) vary greatly from person to person, they can generally serve more than a hundred dependants on their own. In other words, there are about fifty Tamers against five thousand troops..."

And we will also mention the Periclitle offensive on the part of Sochius.

"... If the findings of the Mage Guild are correct, the summoned family does not need food. Therefore, when the ghosts join their families in the castle, they need to supply a dozen of their troops. In other words, neither in the siege battle, nor by means such as a soldier attack, would it have cost much to recapture the city… Assuming that the Periclitle side opted for full withdrawal, the duration of the attack would be more than a few months and the damage on the offensive side would be estimated to be between 10,000 and 50,000 for the war dead alone. This is a condition that the invasion operation is only around Pericritle, and if Sokius initiates an invasion of Fort Toa, the damage will increase further. That is, it can be said that this Pericritle offensive, with only a few (...) 800 damages, prevented the damage to tens of thousands of people… the economic losses are even greater, and it can be readily expected that the logistical stagnation caused by the inability to use Aurelia, Fonce and Ars streets directly hit the economic activity of the countries and caused serious events…"

None of the parties commented on this summary. I didn't find it worthwhile to comment on irresponsible reviews.
