Trinitas Mundus

Episode 80: Decisions

Tria Calendar 325, December 27, 1 p.m.

At Alliance headquarters, Alliance Director Reginald Warbeck looked sinister. He is preceded in death by Hamish Markat and Randall Ogburn, the head of defense, who seems to be discussing something.

"... but this is all the sacrifice I've made. Even if it's a celebration..."

Warbeck says so and shakes his head small.

"No, this is the time, so the celebration should take place. It also means mourning the dead. If we don't do something here, it's gonna hurt everyone."

Warbeck added to Hamish's words, "But a lot of people have lost someone they know. It would be careless......" Randall came pinching his mouth as he continued.

"No, you have more to say about Hamish. Hey, Reginald. Why don't you listen to Hamish the Red Arm here? Whatever I am, you're new to war. Why don't you listen to the mercenaries who are accustomed to the war?"

Warbeck still seems unconvinced, but decided to believe the words of the professional mercenaries.

"Be good! This time, I'm not making a big deal out of it. Instruct them to start preparing now."

Randall nodded at Warbeck's words and immediately left the room to gather the staff.

2 pm.

Ray returned from his Light Divine quarters to Guild General Headquarters.

Just then, he joins Hamish and the others who finished the meeting about the celebration.

"What happened at headquarters?

Hamish exhales a soothing breath in his heart to Ray, who talks to him as usual.

(Apparently you're back on your feet. Valeria is the best at this kind of thing. I can't think of anything about using Hal...)

Hamish didn't even come up with that idea for a bite.

"Oh, a little bit about the celebration. More than that, where have you been?

That's what Hamish asked when he spotted the unos following him around behind Ray.

"Hey, I'll talk to you later in the Light Divinity quarters...... I need to talk to you..."

Hamish makes his expression slightly stiffer when he says, "Ash told me.

It wasn't even a stand-up conversation, so he headed to the inn where those who were the lords of the Marcut Mercenaries stayed.

When he arrived at the inn, Hamish gathered his deputy Alberic and Gareth Ayring and the other captains into the dining room.

Ashley was on the spot too, but the look was cloudy.

Hamish began to tell Xu "Omoro" when he sat in his chair.

"First, the pursuit of Ash's remnants of the demon clan, but we're in."

Ray leaned back and said, "Why! If we miss it now, we're in big trouble!," he said.

Hamish controlled it with his eyes, while

"We're mercenaries. I'm risking my life for money. Besides, we're tied to a contract. Not this time. There was a request from the state. But we don't need to fight any more than we've defended this city."

"Well, you can't! If I miss now..."

Ignoring Ray's cry, Hamish continues his words with no expression.

"What you're saying is a personal request. If that's the case, you need to hire us. 10,000 C (Krona) per day without expenses (= about 10 million yen). Plus I need a penalty. You don't have that kind of money, do you?

Ray couldn't believe Hamish's words. Because when the Demons invaded the eastern part of Lax, they assumed command of the Crusaders and understood the dangers of the Demons more than anyone else.

(I thought Mr. Hamish would understand me properly... were you complacent...)

"Mr. Hamish went to save Fort Chulock, didn't he? Even then, we didn't know the enemy's power, and it must have been more dangerous than this one. But why?"

With that said, Ray points out the time of Fort Chulock rescue on the eastern border of Lax, replacing Hamish and Valeria starts talking.

"Things were different then. There was a formal request from the Knights then, and first, if Fort Chulock falls, the eastern part of Lax will be ravaged by demons. Only we could have prevented that. But not this time. You don't have to go after an escaping enemy. With all this great victory, you don't have to take any more risks. And even at the foot of a dangerous Aquila, it's too risky to cross with a ghost warrior, even though the rest of the party"

"But if we miss now, the Demons will gain great power! If Luna... the Moon Son enters the Moon Demon Capital, it's going to be a big deal!

That's what Ray said as he screamed.

"But is that a sure thing? Do you have proof?

Hamish narrows his eyes slightly and stares at Ray as he shoots through. And I kept talking in a slow tone.

"I guess the little ghost warrior you took prisoner didn't know anything big, either, did he? I don't doubt what you're saying, but that's it, I can't move. If you really need our help, get a penalty and our per diem. If that's not possible, have Periclitle's great guy admit permission to pursue the Demons. That way, we can move."

Demonic crusades are carried out on the basis of agreements concluded by major countries, and countries that have not engaged in direct combat are also to pay their share. If the city of Periclitle, affiliated with the Union of Urban States, accepts the need for pursuit, the costs will be shared by each country. Disclaimers can also be applied to contracts entered into by mercenaries, thus eliminating the need to pay liquidated damages arising from contract default. Hamish told Ray about it.

Alberic spoke in a floating way as usual.

"Ray, I'm not saying Hamish is mean, either. The Mercenaries don't have many families, but they don't have any. Fight it, and you'll get the injured and the dead. Plus, it costs money for gear. No matter how much Hamish you are, you can't be so unscrupulous."

Ray puts his lips strongly on his lack of thought.

"... and. Mercenaries are more important than anything else. If Hamish moves on his own here, he will be removed from the mercenary guild. Yeah, that's not all. By deliberately breaking your contract, you could be the target of a crusade."

Alberic explained that the most important part of the mercenary guild's terms was the relationship of trust with customers, and that breaking a contract without good reason can be subject to severe penalties.

At a time when mercenaries were said to be synonymous with "rogues," some mercenaries betrayed their customers after entering into escort contracts, forcing the bandits to attack them. In that case, all the merchants, the customers, were killed, little evidence was found that the mercenaries had betrayed them, and they were rarely punished.

In the meantime, mercenaries who tried to break the situation created a mercenary guild. And the wrong-working mercenaries were relentlessly eliminated by the Alliance. As a result, the mercenaries' credibility increased and the merchants also began to deposit their lives.

"But you can't remove as many people as Mr. Hamish. How much did you rebuff the contract..."

"Surely Hamish might not be removed. That's why I can't do anything extra casual. Hamish's influence can't be foolish. If you think about the effects on other mercenaries, you have to discipline yourself. It's a hassle."

Ray is still uncomfortable, "But......" he mutters. Alberic, so as to block Ray's words,

"I may not be convinced, but it means I can't help you, Ray, unless there's a good reason. Yes, there must be a reason (...)"

Alberic laughs niggly, nodding small.

Without realizing it, Ray embarrassed himself about the sweetness of his thoughts and began to think about what more to do.

(Well... I do think they said the same thing when I met Ash. So if you don't move the Adventurer Alliance, it won't be obvious... but it might be difficult to get a direct verdict from the Alliance Commander. Mr. Randall might understand, but rebuilding the city is a top priority now, and the city's budget should be drastically reduced because of my trap. But I can't even persuade countries to go around now... I don't know what to do... even if you say you have a reason, you won't believe me...)

As he moved his gaze, by chance, Hal Rankle's appearance came into his eyes.

(I wish I could talk like Hal... for whatever reason, I'm pretty sure the crisis hasn't left...)

It flashed to be there.

(Right! Hopefully, special provisions for the Demonic Crusade could be used! All you have to do is get people to think that there are other benefits besides Periclitle. The timing of the celebration would be good......)

Ray spoke to Hal.

Hal even had a bad feeling, "You're not up to something weird again, are you?" and approached with vigilance.

"I need a favor. I can't do this without Hal."

Ray grinned and told him so. Ashley felt that he had come up with something.

(Looks like Ray came up with something. Then we might even leave tomorrow. You should be ready)

Hamish and the others also have a relieved look at Ray's changing expression.

"Hal! Commander's orders. Do what Ray says."

Hal said to the words, "Eh! I haven't heard anything yet, but I only have a bad feeling..." he drops his shoulder.

"It's not just Hal. I need Mr. Hamish to take one skin off, too. I'm going to tell you what I think..."

Ray tells the Hamish what he thinks.

Hamish and Hull drop their shoulders in the roles assigned to them, but the others went to tell their men that they might even leave tomorrow that they could go with this.

5pm.

Food and liquor prepared by the citizens begin to line the square in front of the Alliance headquarters.

The healers are still treating the minor wounded, but Ray, who regained some energy, once again treated the seriously wounded, leaving few with serious symptoms.

Many injured adventurers also gave a bright look to the story of the Alliance's announced victory.

"Guys, you did a great job yesterday! You protected the city with our hands! Some of them are dead. But we defended the city with this hand! I need you to make a scene for them today!

Warbeck gave a brief greeting in front of Alliance headquarters, signaling the words that the adventurers said, "Wow!" Responding with cheer, the feast began.

As soon as the feast begins, the remaining bards in the city play their instruments and start singing poems. Many mourned the war victims, but still, as cheerful songs began to play, the place gradually became brighter.

The Rays were in that celebration as well, but many adventurers and citizens gather around him, who have served as enemy generals in one stroke.

They slap him on the shoulder by saying "you did well" mouth-wateringly.

Ray replied, "Thank you very much. Thanks to all of you," he bows his head.

Next to Ray being voiced by the people of the city, there was a group of Marcut mercenaries. And Hal stood on the stage at Valeria's nomination, talking about the thoughts of the mercenaries this time.

"... It was in the city of Bridgens that we heard about Periclitle (here). Yes, it's a small city about 500 km from here. We, the Red Arms, were escorting convoys to the Demonic Crusaders..."

Hamish and the others heard information about the Augs' footprints around Periclitle about ten days ago on December 14th in Bridgand, a city in the eastern part of the Kingdom of Lax. They soon returned to Fonce, king's capital of the Kingdom of Lax.

But at that time, we still didn't know the size of the Demonic Army, nor did we talk about sending out reinforcements.

Hamish recalled the "Arclight Report” written by Ray and wondered if the periphery of Periclitle was the real aim of the Demons. And tell the Duke of Braveburn about it, the musketeer of the Kingdom of Lax.

Lord Braveburn was thinking the same thing, but at that time Fonce had no satisfactory force. If the information is correct, the Kingdom of Lax took the choice of concentrating its forces, believing that only a few hundred troops would drain without causing damage to the enemy.

Hamish, turned down by Lord Braveburn, has no choice but to take one hundred of his men - who are replenishing them after the Battle of Millice Valley - and leave Fonce on December 22nd.

"... we didn't care either. This is a difficult city to protect. Even a mercenary on paper like me can tell. I don't know how many" white warriors ”have prevented ten times as many enemies in Millis Valley, but if they surround the city, they won't last a day..."

The audience were all snorting at the words.

"Of course, our captain, Red Arm Hamish, knew about that!... I've never seen that before. In Millis Valley, the captain who was laughing at 3,000 enemies in front of him didn't even have to be Nicole this time. That's all I knew I was in a bad situation..."

The audience around him was gradually drawn to his words.

The Mercenary Corps of Mercenaries is rushing three hundred kilometers from Fonce to Periclitle in five days. Not so much a phenomenal speed, though at a fairly fast speed, because everyone rides and travels. But the two hundred and fifty km from Cardobec to Fonce, north of Periclitle, were filled with refugees travelling in carriages loaded with household goods, unable to travel as they wished.

"... even our captains were so frustrated. But our captain calmed us down with just one word. You know what I said?

The audience all shake their heads sideways, silently urging ahead.

"This is what the captain said.“ PericLittle has Ray ”. That was just the word...... but that was enough for us at Red Arms. That would be so. There's no way a white warrior in Millis Valley can beat a demon like that so easily... I guess I heard that story. There were plenty of guys in the middle of town who would tell us they were coming with us..."

This time, there were two hundred mercenaries rushing as reinforcements against one hundred of the Mercenary Corps of Markat. They were the ones who rendezvoused on Fonce Street - the street that connects Periclitle to Fonce. In fact, more than a hundred people wanted to accompany them, but Hamish says no, not to reduce the escort of the merchants and evacuees.

"By the time we got to Cardobec, it hadn't even started. But you were in a lot of a hurry after lunch when you missed your early horse. I wonder if it's already started. Then it was the forcible army. Foot delayed Heavy Squad left him at Cardobeck and ran through the momentum to crush the horse... and made it in critical time..."

The audience are all nodding at Hal's words. By then, the audience, which was dozens, will be over a hundred, and the circle of people will be even bigger.

"I was lucky this time. No, the captain had a military teacher. More than that, the people in this city did their best to win!

So I said, "Yes!" The voice goes up.

Hal slightly clouds his expression there, silencing. The audience looked at each other wondering what the “while” was and waited for Hal's next word.

"But. Are you sure this is it?

One guy in the front row said, "What do you mean?" Ask.

"We fought demons in Millis Valley, in Fort Chulock, and here in Periclitle. But isn't this weird? Soldiers are gathering in Periclitle and Lax right now. Can you really tell me this isn't a trap?

The audience also thinks into the words.

"This is it. That's what our military teacher there, Mr. Ray, thought, isn't that what they're after? This time the city guys worked harder than expected. But the main enemy, the Great Ghost Clan, doesn't fit. The story I heard about a guy named Moon Demon who used the puppet Kutsu technique before he was attacked, right? There's no such thing. And the Wingman. Don't you think that's strange..."

When Hal cut the words there, Ray came up on the stage.

"I think. I don't know if the Demons are after us."

The audience doesn't even whisper into the words of the white military master.

"I'm about fifty short of the Great Ghost Clan. If the battle of the plains had had that power... we might have lost. Besides, the dark attribute magic user, the Moon Demon Clan, suddenly disappeared. There must be a reason for this too..."

Ray cuts words there and calms himself down so that his voice passes well.

"I think. The Demons must have had a different purpose. It is also the purpose that is more important than the purpose of occupying Pericritle here…"

From the audience, he said, "What is that!" The voice goes up.

"I don't know what that is. But it's something so important that you need to accomplish it even if you lose five thousand troops! Now, if we let them get away with it, they might not be able to take it back!

So Hal started talking again.

"We need your help with the Mercenaries, Red Arms!

So I bow my head big.

The audience didn't know what it was about and started bothering.

"We can't move! As it is, we have to pull ourselves off to Lax! Please! Tell the great people of the city we need a demonic pursuit! And why don't you spread this story to everyone! We're helping Mr. Ray with the White Master..."

And Ray was bowing his head just as deeply.

About thirty minutes after that, many people were gathered around Hamish as well.

Originally named as a first-degree mercenary, many citizens surrounded him as heroes who saved the city this time.

Some of the citizens are already drunk, and Hamish shows up to give a speech.

"Mr. Hamish! Could you say something to us!

Hamish said no, "Because I'm a loud mouth," but the adventurers make me want his speech louder too.

Hamish felt like he had no choice, standing on a prepared crate,

"This time it's not about us mercenaries! You adventurers, you defended the city with the power of the people of Periclitle! No, my daughter, and you saved my successor's life."

That's where the audience cheers. Hamish continued the conversation with a serious look after controlling it with his hands.

"But don't worry! There are those who escaped. Those guys found out about this city's weaknesses! Plus, there's an insulting number of Big Ghosts on the run!

Citizens who were expecting a bright story lean their necks at Hamish's pessimistic words.

"We drove the Demons back! Isn't that enough!

"No, my military mentor says this battle is going to be just an outpost. Don't you think there was something wrong with their movements this time? He moved cursorily and attacked the city as expected..."

Citizens were also nodding at the words.

"Was this where you were meant to be? Isn't there another fate?

So I cut the words and slowly looked around at the audience.

"Where are our forces now? It's the North Lax and here in Periclitle! Fortis mercenaries, too, mostly pay. If we're going for this plane, where is it?

So Hamish cut the words.

"I guess I can only think of one. They're after Fort Toa. And then drop the thinned caucus from it. If this is the real aim, then some of the people who are fleeing now are a few elite separate teams. Think about it! If there are fifty Great Ghost Warriors, they will be a separate task force of terrible warfare. In fact, we don't have the right number of Big Ghosts and Orgasms."

Citizens remembered the horrors of the Great Haunted Troops and the drunkenness cooled rapidly.

Participating in the battle of the northern plains were only the wounded Great Ghost Warrior Sixty and the Auga Hundred. That Great Ghost tribe unit was invincible in the battle of the plains. Only a few high-level adventurers led by Randall managed to cross.

"There's a main unit in the front of Toa, and he's a big ghost warrior behind him. There was a wing demon this time, but he's not in the fight. Why?"

All the listening citizens are tilting their necks.

"They're here to see how much we can fight. Which means the fight's not over yet."

The story was heard by Adventurer Guild Chief Reginald Warbeck and Defense Chief Randal Ogburn.

"It's certainly a possible story. Reginald, what do we do?

Reginald shakes his head small to Randall's question.

"I don't have any proof. Sure, if Ray the White Army Master and Hamish say so, I'm pretty sure. I should tell Kaum the story of a separate team, but I can't declare that Toa is my next target. Which means we can't go under the agreement."

Randall nodded with a smile on his face, somewhat unwillingly.

"Oh, but can we just leave it like this? If Ray is right, Luna the Moon Demon has captured, and the Moon Son is the key..."

Reginald shakes a small shake.

"I know that. I know, but I don't have any money. There is more money to move the army than that. Just rebuilding the city hurts my head."

Talking about that, people from the city gathered around me.

And I'm pressed to leave the demons alone with their mouths.

"I know what Ray and Hamish are saying! But I don't have any proof! It's okay for us to make a request for a demonic crusade. But if the Demons are just going to run away, then all the crusaders' expenses have to be held by PericLittle. I don't have that kind of money. You know what I mean."

One person who was around disproves the word.

"But! The white warrior told you that Periclitle was a jerk before he found the enemy. Then why not this time too!

On behalf of Reginald, Randall responds to it.

"Sure enough, Ray's guy had been warning us before we found the Demons. When he thought we were just a bunch of orgasms and orcs, he affirmed that the Devil's purpose was Pericritle."

The people of the city nod at the words, and one man, like an adventurer, speaks up.

"You did bring Doctus' great scholar teacher. Hey, guys! We owe Ray! He didn't believe his word, he helped us! Now it's our turn to believe him!

From around the perimeter to that word: "Yes!" The voice goes up. Then, opinions fly over pressing the guild chief to give instructions on the demonic pursuit.

Reginald gets a look like he chewed up a bitter bug.

(When I get here, I have no choice. Sure, we owe Ray. If you say you need him, I should take off my skin... brace my belly...)

"Okay! I declare you as Adventurer Guild Leader! The Devil Clan crisis hasn't left yet! Markat Mercenary Corps (Red Arms) as head of the city of Periclitle in pursuit of the remnants of the Demon Clan

Ask! Hamish! You're listening!

Hamish said, "Whoa! I'm listening!," he replied.

"The Mercenaries will hunt them down first thing tomorrow morning! Oh, my God, our military master is holding on to where they're going. Nothing to worry about."

That word says, "I asked you!," "Take me too!" The voice sprang up, and at once the celebration venue was engulfed in an exalted atmosphere.

This time Ray thought about letting Hull lift the “White Master” with a good story and complaining that the Master, or Ray, was in danger of the situation now. Dragged in by Hal's story, the tall audience should feel they need a pursuit operation Ray complains about. Hamish then complains of danger in the same way. There should be a guild chief Reginald or Defense chief Randall near Hamish, and it was that with the addition of a hot audience there on Hull's story, the field would lean toward demonic pursuit at once.

But Ray regretted that what he did was right.

(Sure, I should have asked Mr. Hamish and the others to come, but was it really good? I haven't lied to you, but you seem to be fooling the people of the city... if I go out to the Kaum kingdom and persuade you not to bother the people of the city or Mr. Hamish... no, this is still critical in time. If Luna is taken to the land of the Demons, what is that (...) in this world... "that”? I was about to remember something right now...)

Ray shakes his head slightly at something he can't seem to remember.

(I have to brace my stomach! I've ruined many parts of this city. Plus, I drove a lot of people to death. Reconstruction costs money, and the lives of the survivors. But I need to make sure this doesn't happen any more! So whatever you do, you have to stop the Demons from doing it!

Ashley, who was next door, gave a small grin at Ray's blowout.

(Looks like you blew it off. Starting tomorrow, it's a forcible army. If Ray's expecting you, you have to go to Fort Toa without hanging for ten days. Then we enter Aquila in the middle of winter. You have to be ready, but don't loosen your cheeks when you're looking at this guy's face)

Ashley puts her hand on Ray's shoulder and calls out, "We're going to have a meeting tomorrow with the fathers," he said.

"Right. But let's keep it a little more English. And Stella."

That's what Ray said, and he spoke to Stella, who refrained behind him.

The look was bright, and the earlier grief completely lurked in the shadows.

Stella nods "yes," and sits beside him.

"Tomorrow, you're with the three of us again."

Ray and Ashley were also smiling and nodding in her bright voice.
